I'm so glad the decided to bring Dexter back for Dexter: Resurrection because the way the ended New Blood was just awful. The original Dexter was absolutely, without a doubt, one of the best shows ever created. It's a thrilling, one of a kind TV show that will keep you at the edge of your seat throughout the entire series. Michael C. Hall is perfect as Dexter and the rest of the supporting cast is just as fantastic. Yes, the ending was terrible but like Game of Thrones, Lost (or any other show with a bad final episode), a few bad episodes at the end doesn't spoil what an overall great show it was and that's what Dexter is...a GREAT show! The ending was so bad they brought back Dexter: New Blood to give it a better ending. Problem is the ending to that was even worse. Now, we're back with Dexter: Resurrection and I love it. I can't get enough of Dexter. I've loved having Dexter back on my tv and this show is really good overall. It's definitely worth watching.
Dexter: Resurrection marks the third revival of the iconic Showtime series, and surprisingly, it's the most satisfying since the Trinity Killer arc. Picking up weeks after New Blood, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) awakens from a coma in a New York hospital, having miraculously survived being shot by his son, Harrison. From there, the show dives into familiar territory - but with a fresh setting, sharper writing, and a darker emotional core.
Michael C. Hall is magnetic as ever. This isn't the Dexter of Miami Metro or Iron Lake - he's older, more haunted, and emotionally raw. Hall brings a tempered intensity to the role, balancing sardonic wit with genuine pathos. His internal monologues are back, but they're more reflective, less performative. The show leans into Dexter's weariness, making his return feel earned rather than forced.
The New York setting is a smart move. The city's anonymity and chaos offer Dexter both cover and temptation. He takes up work as a rideshare driver, blending into the urban sprawl while quietly hunting predators. The cinematography captures the grit and pulse of the city, and the soundtrack - featuring moody tracks like Nick Cave's "Red Right Hand" - adds to the show's eerie atmosphere.
The supporting cast is stacked. Peter Dinklage plays Leon Prater, a billionaire with a twisted obsession for serial killers. Uma Thurman is his enigmatic enforcer, Charley - cool, lethal, and captivating. Guest stars like Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian play members of a secret society of killers, each bringing a unique flavor to the chaos. Their scenes are some of the most entertaining and disturbing in the series.
Jack Alcott returns as Harrison, now working as a bellhop in Midtown. His arc is quietly heartbreaking - a young man trying to outrun his father's legacy while slowly succumbing to the same darkness. His scenes are filled with tension and emotional weight, especially as he begins to show signs of inherited trauma and compulsive behavior.
Angel Batista (David Zayas) also returns, adding a nostalgic yet foreboding presence. His pursuit of Dexter adds a layer of suspense that longtime fans will appreciate. The tension between old friends turned adversaries is palpable, and it's clear Batista won't let go easily.
Showrunner Clyde Phillips, who helmed the best seasons of the original series, brings a steady hand to Resurrection. The writing is tighter, the pacing more deliberate. The show doesn't shy away from its past - it embraces it, flaws and all. It's self-aware, occasionally pulpy, and often emotionally resonant.
Yes, there are plot conveniences and moments that stretch believability. But Dexter has always thrived in that space between logic and lunacy. What matters is that the story feels alive again - messy, macabre, and meaningful.
Final Verdict: 10/10 Dexter: Resurrection is a bold, bloody, and brilliantly executed revival. It honors the original while carving out something new. Whether you're a longtime fan or just diving in, this season is a must-watch. Dexter's back - and he's never been sharper.

Dexter: Resurrection brings our favorite serial killer back and I'm here for it! I missed Dexter so much and was so excited to hear that it was getting revived for this series, especially with the way New Blood ended. Dexter is easily one of my favorite shows of all-time and one of the few shows I can watch all the way through several times over without getting bored. Dexter: New Blood was actually a pretty good show right up until the ending and Dexter: Original Sin was terrific from beginning to end. Now we have Dexter: Resurrection. So far it's the Dexter we've all come to love. I'd absolutely recommend this to any Dexter fans just to see Michael C. Hall back as Dexter. That's worth watching alone and again, the show itself is really good. Let's just all pray they don't botch the ending like they did with Dexter and New Blood.

Dexter: Resurrection is a thrilling return to form. The writing is sharper than ever, the atmosphere is intense, and Michael C. Hall delivers a flawless performance. The story honors the original while bringing fresh twists that keep you hooked. A must-watch for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
The series has the potential to be the best season ever, the cast is incredible, and the quality compared to the previous seasons is insane.
The pacing is spot on, the tension builds with every episode, and every detail feels carefully crafted. Finally, a series that manages to reinvent itself without betraying its roots.

I didn't even know they were making this show, till I saw it on my tv tonight. I was so hyped and instantly watched both episodes! After only two episodes, all the crap done in New Blood to mess up the story has already been erased and the feel of the original show is BACK!!! The suspense, the music, the dialogue with Harry; and a few great cameo appearances! I can't wait to see how the story(ies) unfold and how (Hopefully) Dexter doesn't mess everything up because the writers don't know how to not mess up a great story! It's midnight here and I want to watch more more more! Sunday can't come soon enough.
I knew it was going to have the best comeback ever.. i have goosebumps, this is my childhood show, my first tv show ever, it's in my blood.. it's so good. I can't say too much even if i feel so much, i feel alive again.. i don't know it's hard to explain in words, you just feel it in your bones, that old emotion, the fire in the soul, the need, it's like you just reunited with your best friend after a long time of not seeing with each other. I'm already used to the writing, the creators of the show are just pure geniuses.. they never disappointed, this show is the best show on television, i love it, we are back, TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT!

When I say dexters back I mean back like we wished they would do. Obviously you know he is back but I mean in all of its glory and more. I have never been so happy for a reboot while so happy about the results of it. There's no way you reading this and don't already know and came here to give it's approval. From the biggest fan boy to the biggest thanks to the team and of course Michael c. Hall. I hope they never play a stupid stunt with his character again. He should be doing this for Another 7-9 seasons. Can't wait to start rewatching this season like I did all my other favorite seasons. The dokes season/ Bay harbor butcher (less the gross debs and old guy thing that makes my skin crawl to this day. Slimy spit filled kisses *barf face). The Lumen season 5.. so on. I can Invision myself now being able to enjoy new blood knowing they were not trying to replace Dexter with a rebellious piss and vinegar hot topic tween dexter wannabee. What a silly mistake those writers had in doing that before Dexter (Michael) and the fans injected the producers with reality and some smelling salts.
I hate waiting for Thursday's midnight to watch Friday's release of new episodes. Let's keep are fingers crossed they do over 12 episodes for this season. Or go even full savage mode and give us summer and winter season releases of seasons like game of thrones did randomly.
I hope producers read our approval of their work. They should consider even doing a side story and a different intersecting show like a multiverse where the come to get her with Lumen who dexter trained and is alive and ready to be written into her own vigilante serial killer show following Dexters Code because once she got the taste for blood she couldn't stay away in the mundane marriage life she went back to. The name of the show could be the blood is calling or something. Convos and winks of Dexter doing work as she trys to one day catch up to him. It could spawn a whole never ending legacy. Crime junkies everywhere who watch serial killer documentaries and know of the not so known or famous female serial killers in history. Would just be a fresh spin where we see the types of killers she stalks the rough they eyes of a female. The writers/ producers of this show could really open up a new world of TV serie creation not yet done.
Guess we'll have to stay tuned.

Huge fan of the original Dexter - New Blood ended poorly. Having toyed around with how they would bring him back and the dynamics left open between his Ex and Baptista - I'm glad they took the approach they did.
Just finished Episode 3 and I must say, we have all the ingredients for something truly epic, I just really hope they don't waste good potential. Let's face it, the writers do have a track record for rubbish endings. If they make the most of this, we could be in for multiple seasons with lots of interesting storylines.
I'm interested in how it'll play out with his son, I really hope it doesn't end the same way as New Blood.

Honestly, I liked the first two episodes of the new Dexter series I won't say anything legendary or mythical, but they brought back the old feeling, the Dexter we know, the calm one who you understand from his looks and silence more than his words. You feel that he's back, but not the same as before, as if he's matured, as if he's tired, as if he's no longer killing just to kill, he's thinking more, calculating, and this made me like his character more. The directing was excellent, the cinematography reflects the tension in the story, everything seems a bit gloomy, dark, cold... exactly the atmosphere we want to see Dexter in. And the music? Simple but it conveys the feeling, it makes you live the atmosphere of the moment. Dexter's relationship with Harrison seems to be the focus, and it's clear that Harrison has a conflict inside him, but it hasn't appeared much yet, but I feel that he will have a big role ahead in the future.

With only 2 episodes in - I am very happy that this level of writing is back. Great pacing, monologues, characters from the original Dexter. Thank you, creators!
Already hooked. Makes me want to go back and rewatch the original again. I don't want to give any spoilers, but if you liked the original, you'll like this one. Multiple story lines, great development, soundtrack has been great so far. Another smart detective, another serial killer, a new city, and a new set of missions for Dexter (no more Jim).
Maybe I didnt have high hopes after the last season - but so far I'm definitely hooked again.

I'm giving this a 7, soley because as long as you have MCH playing Dexter & keeping the character in tune, I'd probably watch him watch paint dry.
However, I watched Dexter as it was airing back in the day and will never say no to more Dexter, but this nor new blood really holds a candle to OG Dexter, & even with how bad season 8 was I'm unsure I can say these last two series have been much better..
I really feel like I'm watching a teen drama at some points with MCH as Dexter in the centre.
The way they write everything to be so conveniently wrapped in a bow just to move onto the next thing is really infuriating, new blood had this same issue, it screams of teen drama writing.
If you're an OG Dexter fan and think this is amazing by any means, you may just be wearing rose colored glasses because you're glad he's back.
Also tiktokers are literally no different than bots coming in and rating things a 10..
call me red is the same rating as the getaway? Are you serious? Sadly the loud noise of tiktokers have drowned out all the viewer's from back in the day and it's hard to find people to actually discuss this show that truly understand what made Dexter work.
"PEAK" "PEAK DEXTER"
please stop.

I know it's still too soon to tell, but by god of this wasn't a strong opening. I will of course adjust my rating in accordance to the following episodes. But Damn, if it isn't good to see our dark passenger ride once more. Previous go around, I wasn't a fan of Harrison, but in the space of one episode they managed to bring me around, they also managed to tap into something the last season had seemed to forget and of course...suprise mother fu@ker. They remember what made Dexter so great to begin with. I don't want to go into much as we're still so early on, but any Dexter fan should be pleasantly satiated by this serving of our favourite serial killer. Moving forward, well I guess we will see.

The show is very great it shows alot about dexter and also gives plot to new characters which I love. I've also seen alot of Dexter's old habits of having a big appetite, seen in dexter new blood. The plot line isn't confusing and actually makes sense and it follows up straight from the go and we got to see alot of characters from the original dexter show which is nostalgic and at the same time amazing to see that they are giving what the fans want. Overall the show is great and imo better then dexter new blood. I really hope to see another season of this masterpiece, even though I think there will be 2 more seasons it's just great to see another amazing show giving what the fans need and at the same time following the plot and story line.
Oh my god, I absolutely love it-this sequel, Dexter: New Blood, has evolved into such a rich, gripping, and emotionally layered masterpiece. What began as a long-awaited revival turned into something far beyond expectations. The storytelling is more mature, the character development-especially Dexter's complex inner conflict-is deeper, and the darker, more introspective tone gives it a refined edge. It's not just a sequel-it's a resurrection in every sense. They didn't just bring Dexter back-they gave his story new weight, emotional stakes, and a powerful legacy. It's beautiful, haunting, and everything a continuation should be. I'm genuinely blown away.

Going into Dexter: Resurrection, I didn't have high hopes. After the way the original show ended - and the mixed feelings I had about New Blood - I assumed this would just be another attempt to squeeze more life out of a character who already had his goodbye. But I gave it a shot, and honestly? I'm really glad I did.
Only three episodes in, and it already feels more focused and better put together than I expected. The pacing is tight, the story is intriguing, and most importantly, it actually feels like Dexter again. There's that classic internal monologue, the tension in everyday moments, the feeling that something is always just about to go wrong - and I mean that in the best way.
Michael C. Hall completely slips back into the role. He is Dexter. It's crazy how natural it feels seeing him again. His presence alone gives the show credibility. Even though it's been years, he hasn't lost the edge that made this character so fascinating in the first place. You can tell he's enjoying playing Dexter again, but with a slightly different energy - calmer, maybe, but still dangerous.
The setting also works really well. Without spoiling anything, the atmosphere is colder, more isolated - which gives it this eerie, almost quiet tension. It's a nice contrast to Miami from the original seasons, but it still holds that same sense of danger lurking beneath the surface.
So far, the plot is just getting started, but it's got a solid hook. It's not trying too hard to shock you right away - instead, it slowly builds the tension. And that's something I really appreciate. It feels like the writers learned from past mistakes and are taking their time to craft something smarter, more grounded.
The new characters haven't had a ton of screen time yet, so I won't say much about them. Some seem promising, others haven't stood out yet. But I'm okay with that - we're only three episodes in, and it looks like the show is setting things up carefully instead of rushing through everything.
One thing I do have to mention is the tone. It just feels right. There's that classic dark humor, the little awkward social interactions, the fake smiles hiding real thoughts. All the stuff that made Dexter unique is here - but it's presented in a slightly updated way. It's modern, but not overly flashy or forced.
Of course, it's still too early to judge the whole show. There's always a risk it could fall apart halfway through, or lean too hard into fan service. But based on what I've seen so far, I'm honestly impressed. It's better than I expected - by a lot.
If you were ever a fan of Dexter, I'd definitely recommend giving Resurrection a try. Even if you were disappointed by how things ended before, this feels like a fresh start done the right way. Not perfect, not mind-blowing (yet), but absolutely worth watching.
It's also nice to see that the show isn't relying too heavily on nostalgia. Sure, there are a few callbacks and familiar elements, but it's not trying to copy what came before. Resurrection seems to understand that Dexter's world has changed - and so has he. There's a bit more restraint, more reflection. The writing respects the audience's intelligence without spoon-feeding every detail.
Cinematography-wise, it looks great. Clean shots, moody lighting, and a subtle cold color palette that fits the new environment perfectly. It's not over-stylized, but it definitely has that "premium" feel - the kind that makes you feel like you're watching something carefully crafted.
Also, I have to say - the tension builds in such a satisfying way. There's no over-the-top action (at least not yet), but every scene feels like it matters. You're constantly wondering what's going on under the surface, and that slow-burn approach is exactly what made the original seasons so addicting.
The only real concern I have right now is whether they can keep this momentum. Three great episodes are awesome, but we've seen shows start strong before and lose direction halfway through. I'm hoping that's not the case here, because they've really set the stage for something special.
If they manage to keep the writing sharp, develop the new characters more, and stick the landing, Dexter: Resurrection might actually become the sequel we didn't know we needed. For now, it's off to a fantastic start.

He's back..and it works. Dexter: Resurrection captures the chaos, darkness, and tension of Seasons 1-4. Michael C. Hall is still magnetic as Dexter, and from the moment he wakes up, you feel the pull of the code returning.
Even without a kill yet (two episodes in), it's already bloodier, messier, and more intense than New Blood. The emotional drama is gone replaced by sharp pacing, eerie voiceovers, and a creeping sense of doom.
It also feels more modern and visually refined, which somehow makes it even better. NYC brings fresh energy, Harrison's arc is gripping, and Batista's return is a nostalgic thrill. The cast is stacked, and so far, the writing holds up.
Dexter is hunting again mentally, emotionally, maybe soon physically...and I'm all in.

Dexter: Resurrection is not just a return it's a reinvention. After years of divided opinions about the original finale, this new chapter silences the doubts with masterful storytelling, emotional weight, and a gripping evolution of its central character. Michael C. Hall delivers one of his most compelling performances to date, blending the cold calculation of the killer we knew with a deeper internal struggle. The show explores redemption, identity, legacy, and whether a monster can ever truly change.
The cinematography is sharp, the atmosphere is intense, and the writing is some of the best the series has ever had. It honors the legacy of the original while correcting its missteps this feels earned, not forced. Supporting characters are complex and grounded, and the antagonist matches Dexter in intelligence and moral ambiguity, making every scene a tension-filled chess match.
Every episode leaves you questioning: is Dexter finally facing the consequences-or finding new purpose? Dexter: Resurrection proves that even a monster can rise again, and in doing so, it gives us one of the most satisfying revivals in TV history. A must-watch for fans and newcomers alike. Flawless. 10/10.

It feels exactly like old Dexter did but somehow even better! The suspense moments and surprise reveals had me SCREAMING. Not even kidding, this show had me GAGGED multiple times. I have not had a show excite me like this in years! I even had to pause it during extra suspenseful scenes because I couldn't take the tension lol. Masterful writing, acting, directing. This cast!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 This may be my favorite iteration of Dexter yet. Yes, he is older but if you've been watching since Dexter S1, you can't help but relate to him and despite everything, root for him and his growth into a better person and father. It's SO well done, season 1 isn't even over and I'm dying for season 2!!!

At first I was exited at this series premise, but man it's really poorly written: the smart, cynical and funny inner dialogues of Dexter in the first series, are replaced with incredibly dull conversations with ghost from the past, the carefully planned and executed kills are replaced with some of the most stupid situations that are almost cartoonish, and the rest of the cast talked and acted almost like they were written for a 90s sitcom (and not a good one), the prime example is Blessing: I mean, an Uber Driver becomes your best friend after a ride and offers you an apartment, dinner at home and send his daughter to do some "magical healing" acupuncture? Did that really happened?

YESSSSSSS EVERYONES FAV SERIAL KILLER IS BACK AND I CLULDNT BE HAPPIER. A BILLION TIMES BETTER THEN NEW BLOOD.
Both dexter resurrection and dexter original sin are great in so happy.
2 episodes in and im counting the HOURS till the next episode.
I PRAYYYYY they do actually make this into a long series because ive needed my dexter back.
Everything is just perfect. So many old characters brought back. I'm so thrilled with everything. The vibe is exactly like the first dexter, not like new blood. It's great.
Please bring my girl deb back and quinn!!!
I'm so happy right now. I love dexter. Yes.
