After being pushed back to a January 2026 premiere, Sentenced to Be a Hero is back on the move. Today, the upcoming anime adaptation of the dark fantasy light novel series announced three new additions to its cast. An official website and X (formerly Twitter) account opened today revealed that a TV anime adaptation of Yuhiro Tsujitsugu's Snowball Earth manga is in production at Studio Kai ( Sentenced to Be a Hero ) for a 2026 broadcast. Crunchyroll has announced an exciting Summer 2025 anime season lineup, including the highly anticipated return of My Dress Up Darling with Season 2, alongside seven other big titles.

Via a press release, Crunchyroll announced the acquisition of several new titles at the Industry Panel at Ccxp Mexico, including exclusive streaming of My Dress Up Darling Season 2 and Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4, along with several other highly anticipated series as part of its 2025 Summer lineup. The second season of smash hit My Dress-Up Darling will be simulcast on Crunchyroll when it airs on July 5, 2025, following its initial production announcement in September 2022. The upcoming season will follow the friends-to-lovers story of hina doll-loving Wakana and cosplay fanatic Marin.

The new anime Sentenced to Be a Hero just revealed a fresh visual and its main voice cast, along with the 2025 release date. The anime, produced by Studio Kai, had first teased the project with a trailer back in March 2024.

The anime’s main characters are voiced by Yohei Azakami and Mayu Iizuka. Azakami plays Xylo Forbatz, a former leader of the Holy Knights who becomes a Punishment Hero after killing a “Goddess”.

Despite his rough exterior, he has a compassionate side, always ready to help those in need. Azakami shared his excitement about the role, saying the teaser’s dynamic animation and soundtrack drew him in. He’s eager for fans to experience Xylo’s emotional and intense journey.
