Hallmark like but not Hallmark quality. Solid story but the detail showing the cookery and violin playing were awful. When would a small child know rehearsal pieces so well? And not have a music stand and music. Close ups of violin were unrealistic.
Also working as a chef - who would let a top Chef be in a kitchen with long hair flowing akimbo? Come on try a bit harder for us dedicated viewers.
Chemistry was really disappointing between the 2 main characters - he was like a plank. Some of supporting actors were completely unbelievable. Though young actress playing Ava was delightful.
But I stuck with it until the end.

But the worst on screen instrument playing in the history of cinema. So many ways to deal with non musician actors but director didn't choose any of them.
Acting is pedestrian, adequate. Lighting fair. Sound just passable.
Bowing and fingering are almost offensive in their misuse.
Every piece played has a concert hall resonance in spite of being on a sidewalk, living room or school room.
Child actor shows promise.
It's not that the script was a standout but at least the concept wasn't the usual trope filled collection one gets used to with Hallmark romcoms.
Kid has the best lines.
Costumes and hair above average.

The story line was good which is why I gave it 3 stars. The actors did a good job with the script. However, the whole film was seriously let down by the music. Otherwise it would have been a solid 6. What were they thinking using studio recorded violin? It was cringe worthy for music played outside and for the practising. There were so many lost opportunities for making it more believable. For example, someone of that quality rehearsing for an important audition would never practice sitting down. It's about time these movies consulted musicians. If you are not a musician you will probably enjoy this movie.
