"Cinderella's Castle" was such a fun watch. It has that signature Starkid energy-chaotic, clever, and packed with some genuinely catchy songs. Facade and Castle on a Hill were personal favourites; they had amazing vocals and choreography that really stuck with me.
The story gets a little gory at times, but not in a slasher-movie kind of way. It's more stylised and silly, kind of like Nerdy Prudes Must Die. It keeps things light, even when the plot goes off the rails in the best way.
The casting is great across the board. Angela Giarratana as the Stepmother was a standout-she brought the comedic energy, but also made for a solid antagonist. There are definitely some weird or questionable moments, but they're balanced out by how strong the music, movement, and jokes are overall.
Also-puppets. Did not expect them, not entirely sure how I feel about them, but some were surprisingly funny, and the way they were used on stage was actually pretty cool.
If you're a theatre kid at heart (or just love musicals that are a bit unhinged), you'll probably enjoy this one. Giving it a solid 8 stars.
