Contestants make me doubt humanity's future

I've never watched any of Mr Beast's YouTube shows but I was tengentially aware of him and what he does from various news stories over the years. I'll admit, the commercials did pique my interest so I decided to watch.

I thought the setup and structure of the games were very interesting. It's clear they gave the games & rules a lot of thought and then decided how they could 'crank up' the visuals, intensity, or price of the games. So from a game-perspective, I give it a high score (they clearly had a lot of money to spend on the show).

What shocked me most (but shouldn't have) is how utterly unintelligent, shallow, and incredibly immature 99% of the contestants are. There's really no reason for people to be crying (!) when they have to make a decision about something! It's the people, contestants, that ruin this show. I'm very worried for the future of this country based on the immaturity of these people. It doesn't make for a 'good show', it just make me glad I don't know, or work for, any of these people.

Good watch but nauseating

Enjoy watching the eliminations and challenges, despite the apparent necessity for lots of screaming and praying and hilarious declarations of love to fellow competitors. Could have well done without the mawkish virtue signalling and heartrending sob stories throughout - every competitor more tragic than the last - to the accompaniment of sad string sections and musically induced pathos! May go down well in some places, and there was hardly a dry eye in my house either, but for a different reason - we found it totally nauseating. Please just stick to the game, the Korean versions, though less money, are far more entertaining.

Very sad reflection of our current times

I gave this a shot. I am familiar with Mr. Beast's content and kind of know what to expect. And well, it is essentially a big Mr Beast video with the same flaws and strengths as his usual content, but both sides are exaggerated. The production of the show is insane, sets are great, the show looks awesome and of course the prizes and such are exciting. This is what earns the stars I'm giving it. Clearly lots of talented people worked on this show and there's no denying its scale and production value.

However, what takes stars is more extensive. The vast majority of the games are very much luck based or trust based. The show rewards the person who is either most greedy, most selfish and has the least regard for others. That person gets a large sum of money, while good people get left in the dust with their dreams crushed and they can't do anything about it. Imagine spending several days on this show and competing, only to get eliminated because some greedy a-hole on your team decided to take a bribe. Even worse, the greedy ones can even stay in the game but eliminate everyone else. It's not entertainment, it hurts to watch and I don't understand how a human with any empathy can stand this show. It promotes wrong values of greed and selfishness.

The title of my review is that it's a reflection of modern times. More and more people struggle to afford basic needs like rent and food and so many people are willing to do anything for a little bit of money, regardless of how much it hurts others. And instead of addressing that, we are making a game show out of it. People's sad life stories and hopes and dreams that get crushed by a game of chance is entertaining right? Yea not for me.

Respect to the workers of the show for putting this together but in terms of actual substance I would give this a negative score if I could. This is the worst thing to promote in society right now.

Entertaining but...

...too many forced emotional moments and cliché talks about integrity, fairness, conscience, and women's empowerment. In this reality show, those who preach fairness often apply double standards-like in a recent episode where contestants could anonymously take as much money as they wanted from a pile. Many criticized those before them for being greedy, yet they themselves took an bigger share of the remaining balance.

The cast feels bland and lacks diversity. While the games are decent, it's odd to watch a high-stakes competition with only one final winner, yet constantly hear moral lectures instead of smart gameplay discussions. The tone just doesn't fit the nature of the show.

absolute madness

Wonderfully edited and keeps viewers on their toes throughout the show. This show deserves a far higher rating and there is no doubt. People need to understand that game shows and reality tv have existed for a very long time. Just because the editing makes the show so intense, it hardly means these people's lives will be affected in the least. Infact, at the end of the day, they'd be going home with more money than what they had when they entered. Lets not play moral philosophy professor for a game show and enjoy it for what it is.

The show is edited fantastically and the games are so well thought out. Each episode ends in an intense cliffhanger and every scene and plot twist is just mindblowing. Would love to see future seasons!

Not good, but fascinating

As a game show, this is bad on a level that almost seems intentional. None of the games they play are even slightly interesting. Most rounds boil down to voting for someone to be eliminated, electing someone to eliminate people, or self-eliminating for no obvious benefit. The rest of the games are incredibly basic, like pick a briefcase, throw a ball through a hoop, memorize a pattern, stack blocks, sprint a short distance, etc.

These are actual examples of challenges.

Where the show gets interesting, however, is the way people react to these challenges and turn against each other over time. As a social experiment, this show is fascinating.

The people who concocted this whole thing are idiots. Mr. Beast and his friends have no charisma whatsoever. Apparently Jimmy lost something like ten million dollars making this show, which is hilarious when you realize every aspect of the competition could have been accomplished on a smaller scale for a tiny fraction of the budget.

The prizes are bigger, but the challenges are too basic to be compelling. Poker, or even golf are more entertaining to watch.

Judge for yourself.

Mainstream media's ratings have been low because they judge it through their mainstream media glasses. And social media is whining because that's what they are best at.

Ultimately, no show is perfect. But if you enjoy an intense game show, with HUGE stakes at play, creating AUTHENTIC raw emotions and a very interesting psychological insights, this show is a must watch.

The show is really well done and especially for MrBeast watchers, it feels familiar yet EVER CRAZIER.

Judge for yourself and if you enjoy it, it really doesn't matter what others think or rate it.

I am excited for the next episodes and I can't imagine you won't be either.

Injust, heartbreaking but sadly, entertaining

The show throws you constant dopamine that makes you KEEP watching it, the way he (Mr Beast) casually tells us that some people QUIT their JOB, because Beast Games is such a big opportunity to them & then he just decides that the destiny of this people is up to ONE greedy person deciding to take the money for him or not.

It's utterly heartbreaking seeing their dreams shattered not because they failed to achieve a challenge, but because their destiny was left up to one greedy man.

All this said, I enjoyed watching it, I cannot hide this truth, it's entertaining. I'd wish it was more fair, so you can feel bad for them not having the skills, I wished you get to know more of the characters too.

TLDR; Entertaining but the way Mr. Beast plays with the contestants sanity & future it's horrendous, I feel bad for them losing it all not because of their mistakes but someone else's greediness.

A dreadful version of the superior Korean shows

If your thing is to get a constant headache from listening to childish screaming hosts, overly exaggerating every single event, then this show is for you. Do Americans not know how to speak at normal levels? If you're easily amused, this is for you. This is a extremely bad version of the much better quality Korean shows. I couldn't even watch one full episode. And, as if the hosts aren't bad enough, the obnoxious contenders are just as bad and completely fake. It's as if somebody's daddy had a spare few million and gave it to his boy to play with as he wanted, without any skills whatsoever. Really painful show to watch. And you'll end up with a headache.

Why all the negative reviews?

I feel like people, actually, I know that people reviewed this show without finishing it. Which I mean, I get. But. You should review the episodes and leave the rating for the whole show until it's actually finished. Why? Because beast games gets a lot better after the first two episodes. A lot better. I just finished the finale and what can I say. It was exactly how I wanted it to turn out. Which is deserving of atleast a rating above 6. I get the negative reviews, but I don't get what people thought they were going to watch when it's a game show for a huge amount of price. It's shows like survivor and big brother that have done this to a whole other extent, so I don't actually get all the hate.

In the end: an underrated reality show that gets hate because of how it started.

Hollow and Meanspirited

Lacks the charm, humor, and excitement of his online videos.

The games so far aren't very exciting: stack blocks, throw a ball in a cup, sack race. The other challenges seem to do with getting everyone's hopes up just to make them feel worse when they lose. Mr. Beast's friends don't add anything. There is no stake it in for them and it shows. The man himself talks about records broken and how crazy people are for not accepting bribes and betraying each other.

Do you like seeing people cry? It happens constantly throughout the episodes. Only a handful of people who take the bribes leave happy and most everyone else goes out miserable.

I watched it because I thought it was only 3 episodes long but apparently they're just going to keep going. While watching I couldn't help thinking that it feels like the end of the era of Mr. Beast. What else is there left to do?

Entertaining

Just like a Youtube video from Mr Beast, except on a way larger scale. If you liked mr beast before this, you'll probably enjoy this.

If you hate Mr Beast before this, you won't enjoy this, it's all up to bias really, but reviews like the ones from IGN (2/10) just genuinely feel like they're protest reviews due to the recent controversies.

Keeping the controversies separate from the show, it's definitely not a 2/10, but hey, an IGN 2/10 is a real 8/10, the same way an IGN 7 is a 2/10 elsewhere.

All in all it's entertaining and you might enjoy just giving it a watch. I wouldn't recommend buying Prime Video video for it unless you're a huge fan. (or are bored)

A great social experiment

I find it funny that so many people rate the show very badly because "it promotes the worst in people" and "It's not fair" It's a Mr Beast game show with a lot of money involved, it's not made to be fair, very few game shows are fair, if any. As a social experiment, from what I saw until now, I think it has a lot of value, some crazy scenarios where you can evaluate the behaviour of people both as an individual and as a crowd mentality. I've seen the best and the worst in people and sometimes unexpectedly, it's an entertaining voyage into human behaviour, with the editing and exaggeration of a YouTuber, that might be bad for many people but at least it's more kid-friendly. There's still a lot of episodes to come out, people should give it a chance and not get on the haters' train that think all the people in this world are saints and should never be tested. I've read scientific studies with more unfair situations than this and there are no prizes at the end...

Do not watch this extended YouTube version

This show delves into the darker realities of society, offering a stark and unflinching portrayal of its flaws. While it aims to reflect the truth, its relentlessly bleak tone can feel overwhelming and devoid of hope. It's a reminder of the struggles humanity faces, but it lacks balance by failing to showcase the resilience and goodness that exist in people.

The task are basically take money eliminate others, or eliminate yourselves and some random luck. Basically there is no task or emotion. The host is always cringe watching during sad times of contestant. Seems the host is inspired by characters like hostel or saw.

If you value uplifting stories or believe in the potential for positivity amidst challenges, this show may not align with your perspective. Ultimately, it leaves little room for optimism, making it a tough watch for those who cherish hope and love for humanity.

Decent

While I understand some of these reviews, and I'm not a huge fan of reality TV, this show is entertaining. There are individuals who help each other and it is not a complete preview of humanity. We are now a society dictated by globalization and visual technology domination. As with everything else embrace it or move on. It doesn't mean it owns you. Have fun, watch the show.

My gripes are more about the prizes and locations. Seriously, how easy would it be to sell a private island in Panama? I imagine difficult. If you have no assets and no liquid cash how can you afford to fly to the private island if you win?

My son and I enjoyed the show. Our favorite part was in the very first episode when the losing contestants fell into holes as they lost seemingly plummeting to their deaths. Yes, we are a bit dark, what do you expect? Not really impressed with the stolen details from Squid Game and I'm hoping season 2 will be more interesting/creative. Monster trucks bad ass!

Same kind of challenges

Just watched 2 episodes and beast always says the biggest prize in the history so many times. He keeps repeating this always. His friends who set up the challenges in YouTube videos, are hardly seen contributing in these challenges. They just roam around with silly questions. The self sacrifice challenge for the team is already played multiple times in 2 episodes. The challenges of a player getting entire team eliminated for self money is also played multiple times in 2 episodes. It's becoming boring and repetitive. Looks like these kind of challenges will continue in rest of the episodes. The 4 floor challenge in episode 2 , could have been done in 1 floor itself as the team's plays one after the other and 1 team didn't even needed the floor to play. Youtuber should stick to making YouTube videos.

Edit: watched episode 3 and 4. Both the episodes included self sacrifice challenge and also people selecting someone who can stay safe. There are very few good challenges. It's becoming repetitive now.

The rating 5.2 doesn't match the real ratings

Check the episode ratings, they are averaging about 7 which I think reflects the real rating much better, so I'm voting ten for my part of bringing the average rating up.

My real rating for the show would be 8.

The psychological games and factors when playing for the BIGGEST amounts of money ever are very interesting.

The show also has more physical games mixed in which are alright but I think they could be improved.

This show is for those who loved Squid Game and are crawing for more.

I hope we will see a second season of this show and I hope that they work on making it even more exciting!

The Good and The Bad

Show is good. Production is amazing. Cinematics are awesome. The thing about show is some parts are emotionally hard and you genuinely feel bad for people that are competing in this show and loosing after all the effort they have put so far. But you have to see isn't that the point of every realty show or competition. That people win. They lose.

I see people hating on Mr. Beast and whole concept of people suffering for money. But wasn't it the whole reason of people liking the Mr. Beast in first place. The challenges, the thrill. Point being that this isn't that big of a deal as some people are describing it as "Exploiting the financially down people"

The bad and biggest problem people being eliminated without any fault at all and due to greed of others I mean a few is ok but hundreds and hundreds just because someone was greedy enough to let their whole team down. Which makes it less of a competition and more of trust game mostly depending on others for your fate in game which I don't like

ill quit yapping now.

Nothing special

Greetings from the other side. After watching the first two episodes that dropped, I found this show kinda boring.

Yes, he gives away a ton of cash, which is cool, but too many people get eliminated through no fault of their own. Some are asked to sacrifice themselves, while others are booted because someone in their row is greedy and hits a button.

It's not a "game" if you can get booted because of something that someone else has done. Imagine going through a bunch of stuff, and you get sent home because someone in your row hit a button that gives them 100k? That would tick me off.

The games are nothing special, like don't let a ball hit the floor.

Anyways, the only thing I liked was the amount of money he gives gives away. I was getting tired of him saying Five Million Dollars! Oh, I also see no use for his 5 friends either. The one dude was annoying as hell. Fake laughing, and saying "No way!" Or "What's happening!".

Faith lost in humanity

I get it, game shows should to be exciting, and without some interesting, morally ambigous characters everything would fall flat.

This show has some excellent drama and storylines, I simply could not stop watching.

At the same time it hurt to watch, and made me lose ever-so-slightly more faith in humanity.

Some of the challenges were so cruel they made me cringe. Like the trolley challenge... I did not like at ALL how some of the contestants used social dynamics to gang up and single out others. It brings out the worst in humans, and for the one being singled out it can scar them for a looong time afterwards.

This contest was a masterclass in manipulating others, and I'm pretty sure the remaining one was a ruthless sociopath.

It's mostly an advertisement ....

1) Steal the concept of a popular show, but you can't copy the games.. so create different, uninteresting, repetitive games. Trivia.... throw a ball .... trust someone you met 2 days ago... give up your game so your competitors (who you met 2 days ago) can continue... repeat....

2) Exploit the economy so people who may be less financially solvent fall for the hype.

3) Get your annoying "frat bro" buddies to host with you. (Seriously comes across as "hazing" at times.)

Frankly, I had no clue who "Mr Beast" was prior to this show, but I don't follow YourTube much at all. I now know he's annoying and rather full of himself. So perhaps one needs to be a YT follower to even "get" this annoying guy. I guess "Mr Beast" sounds better than "Jimmy". I, personally, find his speech inflections rather "salesman-like" and unsavory. I would never buy a used car from Jimmy.

As a show, it's a less intriguing copy of Squid games with advertisements. "Advertainment" essentially, done to promote a service/product in a more subtle manner than direct commercials.

As a game, it's not very interesting. I gave it a pass initially, understanding that for 1000-500 contestants the games needed to be a bit broad in nature - Although I can't help but point out trivia questions with 500 contestants was just a horrible choice. That was a pretty good precursor to understand just how much thought was put into the "games".

As the series progresses the nature of the games are just OVERLY repetitive. There's not really any "competition". Most games are "get someone to sacrifice themselves" or.... "trust someone to NOT sacrifice you".. those are the games. Occasionally there's a "pure chance" game. There are practically no "be better than your rival" games, there are a couple, but only a couple.

The odd thing, really, are the contestants.. they are all there to win money.. to do that, they need to eliminate their competition (other players). But few seems to actually grasp that concept. Someone needed to explain to them that the game is "kill, before you're killed" in nature - not "we just met, lets all be a happy family". They don't seem to be aware there will only be one winner.

The dumbest thing I've ever seen on any game show ever was probably the first couple minutes of Episode 3. Guess no one ever explained the colloquialism of "a bird in the hand" to the contestants either.

I'm watching.. but it is far more of a "hate watch" to see just how stupid the choices the contestant make are.

An experience to behold

Only two episodes in... and i am hyped! This show... ever since it's announcement, is everything i ever wanted it to be. A competition show with high stakes, challenges, funny moments, beautiful visual and more. But... i'll lie if i say that i expected the visual beauty it is. The amount seen on screen, is more than a simple America competition rehash, it's honest competition, sincere teamwork, true loss, and... an honest look into this world.

Yes, you heard me correctly, this show makes you ponder the world and money as a whole. From the first episode alone, that message is shown clear to you and i won't give anything, but let's just say, it's a: "how much do you wanna go to achieve a once in a lifetime opportunity and how much... are you willing to sacrifice?" Honestly, the fact that if you look at deep, it makes you think such a thing is beautiful and yes, i teared up quite a bit.

I'd say more, but i'd ruin the experience. Just, watch it, please. Even if like me, you're not a big Mr Beast watcher, you WILL love this! Trust me, there will never ever, be something like this again.

Reviewing the tv show not the participants

Reading the negative reviews here, most negative reviews seem to like the show but not the participants? This makes little sense to me. We are reviewing the tv show here not how much we liked the participants. Weird way of looking at tv shows.

The show is very well designed imo. It puts the people in tough situations. I keep thinking what would I do in this situation or critique participants' decisions. In a tv show, I see this as a complete positive. It makes you think and want to put yourself in others shoes. I am glad not all of the competition are physical based.

I also like the pace of it. Overall a positive show and I get back to every new episode release.
