I really enjoyed this series. Some aspects of repetition worked well but on the whole I felt there was too much repetition. Too much going back to their school days and reliving the exact same thing over and over.
The love story was very nice, their chemistry was good. But family life was not portrayed in a good light at all. No forgiveness, no real understanding of each other.
One scene annoyed me and didn't seem necessary - when on the same day he was being checked in hospital for a wound and he'd had 8 stitches in his hand - she asked him to carry her and he did so without a problem ... that seemed a bit odd.
On the good side - it was about the possibility of healing and sharing the truth with people around you for support.

In most modern day c-dramas, the FL looks like a middle schooler and acts stupid and helpless. There are very few exceptions, and First Frost is one of them.
The story explores how abandonment and abuse childhood caused Wen YiFan to be cold and defensive most of her life and didn't take a chance at love. The episodes are exciting to look forward to, now that I am caught up. ML is so charming and expressive. FL is very beautiful with big eyes and plays the part perfectly.
Good acting, script, characters, settings, make it an excellent watch. Finally c-dramas MAY be starting to catch up with k-drama.

Actually i never comment or give reviews on any drama. But this drama is exceptional. It has compelled me to give a review as it was too good. Honestly speaking i think i have almost seen all the standard modern cdrama. 'The first frost ' is definitely the best among them. I m really surprised by the writer Zhu yi. She knows what we want. She depicts that a love story can be this beautiful also. The character Sang Yan is undoubtedly every girls ideal type. This drama was so excellent with every emotions. The actors were perfect for this drama. I don't think anybody could play these roles better other than them. So it's highly recommended. Thank you so much for this great experience after a long while. Sang Yan the man you are.

Review The First Fros
Adapted from the highly popular novel "The First Frost" this drama is a beautifully produced masterpiece with stunning cinematography and top-notch performances from the two leads, Bai Jing Ting and Zhang Ruo Nan. The atmospheric and emotional OST perfectly complements the mood of the story, enhancing every scene.
Bai Jing Ting and Zhang Ruo Nan truly embody the roles of SangYan and Wen Yi Fan, delivering such natural chemistry that it honestly gives you goosebumps. Their strong CP dynamic brings out the joy, humor and deep emotions of first love, heartbreak and longing. Most importantly, they make you fall in love all over again.
Sure, some people are fussing about the changes from the original novel but honestly? I personally think those adjustments were acceptable to make the storyline flow more smoothly on screen.
Plus, I really loved how they showed Sang Yan and Wen Yi Fan's school days in the beginning. It gives you such a clear picture of why these two can't seem to let go of each other, even years later.
And the epilogue at the end of each episode-told from Sang Yan's point of view is one of my favorite parts. Getting a glimpse into his thoughts makes me love his character even more Haha!
If you're a fan of light romance, this is definitely a must-watch!

I have all praises for this incredible adaptation of the renowned novel. The leads chemistry is electrifying. This story is not your sugary rosy cliche kisses and hugs romantic story. It covers some serious topics like workplace abuse, domestic violence, toxic parenting and S. A. Its story of courage healing confidence and trust. Its slow burn romance.
Veteran award winning Director, awesome screenplay, adaptation is peak true to the novel, cinematography is classy.
OST theme is true to the intense mature understand relationship of the ML & FL. Songs sung by popular artists.
Casting is epic, picture perfect from drawing and Manga. Both the artists are true to their skills, professional and talented. They got the depth of the character. Overall I'm highly impressed.

Lead is well chosen, both are respected for their great acting. Their on-screen chemistry is already talk of the town.
Cinematography is epic, OST matches the theme. Leads got into the skin of character and delivered. Their intense romance and chemistry is firey. It's not nonsense cringe romance but mature intense meaningful one. I'm thrilled how beautifully it's adapted. As novel reader I give a Thumps Up :) Story is sensible and talks about current social issues. Cronic problem like Sleepwalking is very delicately handled.

I watched this with high hopes because I haven't seen Jing Ting Bai in a long time. The story concerns a teenage romance between Sang Yang and Yi Fan which is pretty much one sided on Sang Yan's (Jing Ting Bai) part for a long while but eventually they get together and then part for a stupid reason and many years pass before they see each other again. When they do eventually meet he is cold and unforgiving towards her but of course they end up living together. The plot is peopled by other friends and side relationships which only serve to thicken out a very thin storyline. Jing Ting Bai is the only person that kept me watching - but he really needs to choose his scripts more wisely. This one had the usual horrendous Asian parents which really were pretty much over the top and pretty badly acted to boot. The ending? There wasn't one. It may be fashionable to do this - it may be in the hope of being commissioned to do another series - whatever the reason all it resulted in for me was a snort of disgust.
This drama is like a melody of the violin. It is strucking all the right strings in my heart. The FL and ML have such amazing chemistry and there screen presence is literally something that I even forget to read the subtitles sometimes, it's a perfect balance of heart flutter and emotions and brings out how it is difficult for person with past trauma to deal with life and people around them. I like the fact that there is nothing too fancy and unrealistic in this drama. This drama literally flows and at every point there is in depth longing and love between two leads
Highly recommended everyone to watch this drama. In my opinion it could be one the best drama of 2025.

The story is very boring, even the dialogues seem a lot unimportant. It is much more comfortable when reading the novel or manhwa. The atmosphere is much more pronounced, while this drama seems not Obviously. Okay I don't know what Asian fans think, why this drama is so popular. Maybe because they are waiting for a spin off from the previous story. Only if this is a standalone drama I think this could be considered a failure. With actors like Bai Jing Ting and Zhang Ruo Nan, they are unable to sustain this uninteresting story. Even though they have tried to explore the characters and characteristics of the shop. But the dialogues and script are very bad, I even feel that Wen Yifan here is like a stupid woman who doesn't know how to talk. Please, this makes me restless, a drama that should be good has become like this and no criticism or suggestions are given. The audience is too blind to the trend and high expectations because this is a famous story with Bai Jing ting's very stunning visuals. But honestly this drama is not good.

The best drama I've seen in a long time, I love the whole plot that keeps me captivated in every episode.
Even the second couple is wonderful they also have a lot of chemistry.
The sang have so much love to give and are everything that is right.
I also want to highlight the writer who takes care of all the details especially with the names of the episodes that change from the beginning to the end and I love the little references with hidden love.
I had Hidden Love as my best cdrama, but now I can only say that The First Frost has become my top one.
I don't want to give away too many spoilers, but my most sincere recommendation is that you watch it because every episode is worth it.

After 2023 i kind of lost my interest in kdramas and cdramas but this drama brought back my love for cdramas. The casting, acting, story everything is just top-notch. If you're looking for a Romance drama full of love, pain, emotion then this is high, go and watch the first frost. They made the story even much better than the novel and I'm really sad rn cuz tomorrow they're going to release the last remaining episodes! And at last the main leads of the drama Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan their chemistry is unmatchable. BaiJingting is so hot! So just go and watch the drama and you're not gonna regret it.

Dramas like The First Frost hits different. It creates knots in the stomach while enjoying the slow pace, just how life is. The slow progression of a meaningful relationship while fighting own battles and boundaries is very well potrayed. I usually get restless for a series to end, but with this I have learnt to take life slow and enjoy the details. The beautiful cinematography and OSTs along with the playful details of the leads are sure to make it an enjoyable watch! I haven't seen such a drama in a very long long time.
Bai Jing Ting has become a name I will not forget. The ease with which he played a high schooler as well as an adult, the deep voice and detailed expressions is praiseworthy.
Relationships are seldom a quick paced thing, it is a gradual progression while being interwinded with ones one life and that is beautifully shown. It shows how a love from someone can change the course of your life and make it better.

I rarely give a rating to a drama that I just finished watching. This was my 2nd time rating a drama, the very first drama I rated was "LOVELY RUNNER" because I thought that time that no one could beat that drama from being my #1 spot for a very very veryyy long time, guess I was wrong because this cdrama without a doubt took the #1 spot for me, ignoring the story of the grandpa and the 2nd lead/couple because I find it sooo unnecessary, it is sooo dragging. Sang Yan and Wen Shuangjiang story is the perfect definition of ENDURING LOVE, that love takes time. You can't love someone who don't even love themselves, their love for each other is so patient, respectful and full of understanding, without even forcing anything. They just understand and respect each other well and they give each other time and space whenever they need it. Eventually, after everything that has happened, they will always find their way back to each other, they don't give up with each other and they will always catch each other. THAT'S LOVE FOR ME.

I loved this one man...I never thought a spin off of hidden love can be this better, I initially had my expectations like it might close to hidden love but might not beat it but still it might end us a good watch, these are my initial expectations, but it exceeded my expectations in every single way possible, ngl, I loved it lil more than hidden love, I love hidden love too but this one is better, unlike hidden love this is mature romantic drama that' not fluffy or too sweet like hidden love is, the casting is incredible, the osts are damn good, and acting is so on point, both the lead actors gave excellent performances and the fact zhang miaoyi is side actress in it made me love it even more.... It's melancholic visuals, well written characters and strong direction made it stand apart from many c dramas, this one is highly recommended and this is not at all cringe, that's one of the major highlight.
