Watch Nimitta Matra and thank me later. Trust me !!

After being moved and shocked, it took me 1 full day to bring me back to senses to write this review. This will be long so bear with me. Kannada cinema has a gem in 2025 and that is Nimitta Matra.

A cinema deserving of a theatrical experience but had to watch it on a small screen on SunNXT but nevertheless, the experience was still there.

It's a profound cinematic experience when a film invites you to pause, reflect, and see things from a different lens. At a time when most movies chase commercial nonsense storytelling and formulaic drama, Nimitta Matra stands apart with its a unique story that takes us to origins of terrorism with a take that is unexpected.

The film immediately from minute one, immerses you in its world, encouraging you to ask important questions, keeping you guessing and at a pace which will overwhelm you sometimes.

What makes this film so powerful is its story. The storytelling is powerful and yet subtle, with every scene crafted thoughtfully. The director even for a debut has an incredible command over the screenplay, letting the emotions unfold organically, without forcing them on the viewer. It feels like you're watching a movie done by an experienced captain with 10 films in the bag but no. This is a debut. Now ponder over that fact after you're done watching this film.

The performances are deeply rooted in realism. Poornachandra and Sangeetha bring vulnerability and emotional complexity to the role, embodying both caught between doing and letting go. Aravind brings the raw brash police office effortlessly. There's no unnecessary theatrics-just honest, human storytelling. Supporting actors, too, bring authenticity and richness to the narrative, creating a world that feels lived-in and deeply relatable.

Technically, the colour palette chosen for the film brings the story to life with crisp editing which keeps the viewer on the edge of their seats. The debut director takes the credit again for the edit. The cinematography captures is smooth yet raw and does enough to elevate the film. Scenes linger long enough for you to truly absorb them. The background score is powerful yet moving, subtly guiding your emotional journey without ever overwhelming it.

This is a rare film that respects your intelligence, challenges your thinking, and offers something far more lasting than surface-level entertainment. It's for those who appreciate cinema that touches the soul and asks timeless questions about what and who is around you.

In a world full of commercial rubbish, Nimitta Matra is a voice reminding us yet again that content is king. It's a film that stays with you, long after the screen fades to black.

    Kickass Thriller

If I have to review, I can only say its mindblowing. But since this deserves a lot more explaination, I ll try to remember some of the details that I loved the most about the story

    1. The arc about the kids death - this was super interesting and when there was a reveal about something bigger a little later, that blew my mind

    2. The experimentation arc - this was totally new to me. I didn't even know that this happened. Although i know most of it is fictionalised, this was super fresh and eciting to watch.

    3. The climax - what blew my mind was this. The reveal and the way it was handled was something really amazing. This made the film bigger than what it actually is. I loved this part the most.

So without giving away spoilers, I will view this film again on OTT to notice more of directors nuances.

Over all the BGM was standing out for me which made this an even better watch on the big screen. On a smaller screen I think this might sound like a lot but I totally enjoyed it and it clealry show that it was indeed made for the big screen.

I rate this 8 out of 10. I want to give a 9 but Poorna was not upto the mark for me in this. He does not suit this role. He must go back to his aloof characters that he plays.

    I'm Speechless

I just watched Nimitta Matra... and WOW. I'm honestly still trying to process what I experienced. Why did I miss this in the theatres is the only thing I was thinking. This film completely took me by surprise-it's one of kfi's rare cinematic gems that grabs you from the very first scene and doesn't let go until the final frame. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen!

The storytelling is absolutely next level. Mr Director, take a bow. What a story, what writing. Every scene feels intentional, every dialogue hits the right note, and the way the narrative unfolds-it's like peeling back layers of something much deeper than just a story. I was hooked, emotionally invested, and genuinely moved.

What really blew me away was the narration. It flows so effortlessly, taking you on this incredible emotional journey-sometimes intense, sometimes subtle, but always gripping. I found myself feeling everything the characters were going through. The pacing is brilliant. There's not a single dull moment.

And the cast? Perfectly chosen. Every actor fits their role so naturally, it almost feels like you're watching real people live through real situations. The performances are powerful without being over-the-top, and the chemistry between the characters just makes it all feel even more authentic.

But the REAL knockout punch? That twist at the end. I did not see it coming. It's the kind of twist that gives you chills and makes you rethink the entire film from a new perspective. It's haunting, it's brilliant, and it's done so masterfully that I was left sitting in silence, trying to wrap my head around it. That ending will stay with me for a long, long time.

Nimitta Matra is not a movie-it's an experience. It's philosophical, emotional, suspenseful, and utterly unforgettable. I can't stop thinking about it, and I genuinely can't recommend it enough. If you love films that challenge you, surprise you, and stay with you well after the credits roll-please watch this. You won't regret it.

I'm already planning to watch it again on OTT on a big projector.

    Brilliant Kannada Film 2025

This movie is a treasure to our film industry.

What I liked the most - 1. The name of the film is very unique 2. Story is brilliant 3. Screenplay and edit is very crisp and fast paced.

    4. Drone shots are beautiful 5. Music and songs are beautiful 6. Lead actress Sangeetha Rajeev and cop role Aravind Kuplikar are awesome.

What I didn't like 1. There were very less screens for this masterpiece 2. Needed more marketing because this film has more potential to do great like a Kantara.

Overall brilliant film, the theatrical experience for this film was super. Great story and performances. 2025 is a nice year for kannada industry.

    Best movie

I have been a thriller movie buff from ages. I have watched almost all thrillers and I get into the detective mode every time I watch a thriller film. What caught my attention towards this film was the name and the word parapsychological thriller. I went to watch this film in the theatre with no expectations seeing the quality of films in kannada these days. After watching this film I was compelled to write this review because I saw something that I never even imagined in my darkest of the dreams. The movie took me by huge surprise and I forgot to see my phone till the end. First time I felt the interval also was not required. Very engaging thriller and what happens in the end was something that even I could not expect. Director Roshan has a very brilliant vision and the actress was extraordinary in her performance. Her act in the last scene was unexpected. Kannada industry definitely needs a fresh perspective like this.
