Before stepping into Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth, Timothy Olyphant had already explored the sci-fi cyborg territory, voicing a Terminator in Netflix’s Terminator Zero. Released in 2024, the anime miniseries follows Professor Malcolm Lee, who builds an AI defense network to protect humanity, but standing in his way is a ruthless new model of Terminator.
Unlike the human characters Olyphant is popularly known for, like Dick in Fargo and Raylan in Justified, his portrayal of a robot brought uniqueness and depth to his versatility. As a Terminator, his voice carried mechanical menace, which he now infuses into Kirsh in Alien: Earth.

There is a reason that music plays a starring role in The Summer I Turned Pretty. It is not just background mood; it is a heartbeat. From Taylor Swift’s re-recorded anthems to Vampire Weekend, each track feels meticulously chosen. Jenny Han, the show’s creator, even penned a handwritten note to Taylor Swift to secure The Way I Loved You (Taylor’s Version) for the finale, underscoring how central it is to the narrative’s soul (via People).
Apart from licensed songs, the official score also features brilliant pieces composed by Zachary Dawes. So, given below, you will find all the licensed and original songs featured in The Summer I Turned Pretty...

Hollywood loves nothing so much as self-satire — except maybe getting somebody else to help pay for it.
Yes, “The Studio” is returning for a second season, this time with $13 million in support from the state of California.
The Apple TV+ show was one of 22 productions awarded a total of $256 million in state tax credits on Wednesday. This is the first allocation since the state expanded its filming incentive to $750 million overall in June — triggering a surge of interest from the studios.
According to the California Film Commission, applications leaped nearly 400% compared to the prior round for TV shows. Perhaps more noteworthy, no qualified projects were turned away.
“The Studio” is among the first to qualify under new eligibility rules that allow credits to go to half-hour shows. In the past, TV shows had to have episodes of at least 40 minutes to qualify — with exceptions for shows like “Veep” that were relocating from other states.

In the last few years, Marc Maron has not shied away from criticizing comedians whose main schtick is being "anti-woke" or from pointing out where such an embrace of right-wing ideology in the comedy sphere has left society. Most recently, the comedian criticized streaming giant Netflix for backing comedian Dave Chappelle after a string of transphobic jokes across multiple specials.
Per Variety, during an appearance on the Pod Save America podcast, Maron, who recently released a comedy special on HBO and stars in the Apple TV series Stick, explored his perspective on the direction of the comedy scene, as well as its ties to politics. He started with continued criticism...

Apple TV+ is steadily diversifying its portfolio. Known at one point for star-driven limited series and sci-fi epics, the platform is carving out space for itself in the comedy space. Platonic and The Studio are among the well-liked comedies of the year. The platform is already fortifying the ranks of its returning dramas, with The Morning Show, Slow Horses, and Presumed Innocent.
But despite the early positive buzz around new comedies like Owen Wilson's Stick and Vince Vaughn's Bad Monkey, it's hard to deny Apple's specific focus on sci-fi. Between originals like Severance and Silo, to Dark Matter and For All Mankind, there is variance within the genre itself.

The Yellowstone franchise is undoubtedly one of the most lucrative Western sagas in recent memory, so it comes as no surprise that Paramount is in no hurry to let go of a good thing. There are already several spin-offs in the works, and now it appears as if another secret Yellowstone project is on the horizon from Taylor Sheridan, or is it?
According to a report from the San-Antonio Express News, Sheridan has selected Ferris, Texas as the shooting location of his new Yellowstone spin-off, which is being called at this time Rio Palo (Spanish for "Stick River"), but that may just be a placeholder and not the show's actual title. The small town sits 20 miles south of downtown Dallas and is home to just 5,000 people.
"Ferris helped build Texas and the nation," said City Manager Brooks Williams in a statement, adding: "Paramount's decision to film here is one more chapter in that story.

Reboots, remakes, and reimaginings have dominated the big and small screens lately, making some decry a lack of originality in Hollywood. However, at least one person with some reboot experience isn't bothered: actor Timothy Olyphant. The Deadwoodstar is currently starring in Alien: Earth, the long-running science fiction franchise's first foray into television.
In a new interview, Olyphant likens Hollywood's franchise fixation to stage revivals: "...everybody goes to Broadway to see the same couple plays every few years. It’s such a dumb, shallow argument to say Hollywood has no new ideas just because they’re rebooting things." Olyphant notes that the times he returned to past roles for new productions were thoroughly enjoyable: "Every experience I’ve had revisiting characters or working with the same people again, I’m batting a thousand in terms of it being really gratifying. I highly recommend it." Olyphant certainly has experience returning to his greatest hits.

Most mornings, Marc Maron wakes up spiraling. Each turn of the globe brings a fresh catastrophe, a crisis, real or imagined, that sends the comedian back into battle with his tenacious anxiety. This isn’t great for mental health, but it does make for good material. And today, his psyche is playing the hits.
“I got cat problems,” Maron sighs, a Zyn pouch migrating from the inside of his left cheek to the right. “I’ve got one that’s just beating the shit out of another one, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it. You want your home to be a place where you can relax.”
Photographed by Guy Aroch
Maybe the nicotine is helping with that. At least for the moment, Maron seems to surrender to the discord between two of his three roommates, though stand-up’s most famous cat guy is never not a little on edge.

After years of waiting and build-up, “Fargo” creator Noah Hawley’s ambitious new entry in the “Alien” franchise, FX’s “Alien: Earth,” has finally arrived. The series, which is set in the same universe as the other “Alien” films, drops viewers right into a dystopian future where Earth is controlled by a handful of all-powerful corporations and the humans who find themselves at their mercy are repeatedly subjected to reckless biological experimentation and unnecessary danger.
At the center of the series are characters with opposing interests, perspectives and goals. There are a lot of them, and they are played by actors you may or may not have ever seen before. With that in mind, here is your guide to who’s who in the new, long-awaited FX series.

Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson have both led divisive careers, and they were in a movie together relatively recently. Lopez is known for starring in some notoriously terrible films, countless which hold rotten Tomatometer scores on Rotten Tomatoes, including Gigli, which is often regarded as one of the worst movies of all time.
At the same time, Lopez has been in several titles that have proved her critics wrong, legitimizing her as an actress. This was witnessed in the 2019 movie Hustlers, which really shows off Lopez's dramatic chops. Wilson has had a similarly divided career. For every hit like The Royal Tenenbaums, he has also made something like Are You Here or Marmaduke.
This has created a highly inconsistent reputation for the Midnight in Paris actor. Likewise, the recent romantic comedy collaboration between Lopez and Wilson split many critics. Now, a few years later, the movie is finding renewed success on streaming.

It did not take long for Apple TV+, after its inception in 2019, to slowly but surely prove itself to be the home of high-quality prestige television, competing with the likes of HBO and FX. Among its latest offerings is the new sports comedy Stick, which took streaming by storm for a few weeks after its debut. The comedy premiered on June 4, wrapping up its debut season run towards the end of the following month, on July 22. Sports comedies are great, mixing the intense passion and competitiveness of elite sport with humorous comedy, delivering an excellent cocktail. However, while it might have dethroned it for a time, the Og sports comedy Ted Lassois making a comeback as it has overtaken Stick in the latest Apple TV+ rankings.

A couple new hits just cracked the list — here’s what made the cut.
When Apple TV+ first launched, I was more curious than confident. How was a tech giant going to compete in the prestige TV world? But a few years in, it’s clear: they’ve absolutely figured it out. The approach is obvious now… fewer shows, bigger bets, and major talent behind (and in front of) the camera. Whether it’s a smaller character study or a massive sci-fi epic, Apple’s not afraid to swing for the fences. And it’s working. I don’t churn Apple TV+. And the best part about a top 10 list for a newer streamer with a relatively lean catalog? A great new show can immediately shake things up, and that’s exactly what happened here. The show premiered on June 4 and wrapped up its first season on July 22. Since then, it’s only picked up more attention, helped by strong word of mouth and a solid 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Into every generation a Slayer is born, and now the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has given her a name.
Per Deadline, Ryan Kiera Armstrong's new Slayer will be called Nova, describing her as "an introverted high-school student" who becomes the latest Chosen One to battle supernatural forces of evil. Additionally, the article confirmed actor Kingston Vernes will join the show as Nova's potential love interest Carson, a fellow student at New Sunnydale Academy who "starts noticing her after a life-changing event."
Prior to Buffy, Armstrong made appearances in shows like Anne with an E and American Horror Story: Red Tide, most recently playing At Atin resident Fern in the Star Wars pirate adventure Skeleton Crew. The actress' involvement was confirmed in May, with Sarah Michelle Gellar -- who'll reprise her role as fellow Slayer Buffy Summers -- revealing Armstrong got the part via an Instagram recording of their conversation.

Another week, another new Netflix title atop the Samba TV Wrap report streaming chart. It’s become old hat now: the streaming giant has held the No. 1 spot for eight straight weeks, with six different titles claiming the top spot.
The latest to take the throne is “Happy Gilmore 2,” the sequel to the classic Adam Sandler golf comedy that comes nearly 30 years after the original.
Netflix has bet big on Sandler, signing several deals that have paid his Happy Madison Productions an estimated half a billion dollars to produce films for the streamer. With 4.7 million households watching “Happy Gilmore 2” over the first weekend it was available — the biggest Netflix movie debut of 2025 so far — that is clearly money well spent.

Apple TV+ recently kicked off its third season of Foundation a few weeks ago, but now another upcoming sci-fi series just got an exciting new look. Collider is thrilled to partner with Apple TV+ to exclusively debut a new batch of images from Invasion Season 3, which will begin streaming on August 22. The sweeping sci-fi series hails from Simon Kinberg and David Weil, and it stars Golshifteh Farahani, Shioli Kutsuna, Shamier Anderson, India Brown, Shane Zaza, and Enver Gjokaj. Erika Alexander has also joined the cast of Invasion Season 3 in a regular capacity. Ahead of the new season, Kinberg told Collider:

Apple TV+’s Stick revolves around the life of a former golfer, Pryce “Stick” Cahill, (Owen Wilson), who comes back to the field to mentor a talented amateur player. Disrupting his path of revival is a self-serving villain, whom fans have already drawn parallels with for the classic villain in Ted Lasso. Comparison between the two shows is inevitable considering their sports premise.
The emotional dynamics and the mentor-betrayal arc of the villains in Ted Lasso are mirrored by the presence of Clark Ross (Timothy Olyphant) in Stick. As the audience ponders the show’s wit and warmth, its sharply written antagonist character draws the same kind of tensions that Ted Lasso fans are all too familiar with.
How Stick’s Clark Ross Mirrors Nate Shelley and Rupert Mannion From Ted Lasso
Clark Ross is introduced as a charming, calculated character who makes it difficult for Pryce to redeem his career.

It looks like fans of golf and comedy are in for happy news with Apple TV+’s Stick series!
Apple TV+ is an interesting streamer as it has a lot more A-list talent involved, mostly in comedies. The show has had its hits, like Ted Lasso, even with other series that slip under the radar a bit. Among them is Stick.
Premiering in June 2025, Stick stars Owen Wilson as Pryce Cahill, a former top golfer until a public meltdown after losing a tournament ruined his career and his life. Two decades later, Pryce is working at an Indiana sports store when he spots Santi (Peter Dager), a promising teenage golfer. Pryce takes Santi under his wing to try and make him a star while recapturing his own past glory.
The series got good reviews and a first-season finale that wrapped up the main storyline but paved the way for a possible second season.

Apple TV+’s Stick was highly anticipated. After all, it was about golf, and it starred Owen Wilson as a washed-up golfer mentoring a reluctant teen prodigy. Viewers expected it to be the next Ted Lasso or Happy Gilmore. It turned out to be neither. After watching season 1, viewers have complained of unlikable characters with no redeeming characteristics and a lack of good chemistry between the cast.
These are the things that Jason Sudeikis’s Ted Lasso got right. The soccer-based show has a simple plot that manages to incorporate contrasting characters and their dynamics with each other. Most importantly, none of the core characters are unlikeable even while they grow and change.
The team as a whole has great chemistry, which makes the show always enjoyable to watch, even when the plot itself feels wonky. Stick, by all these yardsticks, fails to create that same emotional glue that would...

On “3x,” a standout track from London-based musician Jim Legxacy’s new mixtape Black British Music, the 2016 UK rap classic “Wanna Know,” by Dave — who is also featured on the song — serves as a thematic core. Legxacy’s vocals, sparkling and ethereal, suffused with emotion but never saccharine, give Dave’s iconic hook a new depth. It’s one of multiple references to the track on the tape — on “d.b.a.b.” Jim coos: “I don’t wanna know like the old Dave,” an easter egg of sorts pointing to a specific cultural lineage.

Apple TV+ has renewed Wilson’s golf comedy Stick for a second season. Stick, created by Jason Keller, stars and is executive produced by Wilson. The series also stars Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño and Lilli Kay, all of whom are returning for a second season.
The renewal coincides with the Stick season one finale, which released on Wednesday.
“I am inspired and humbled by the audience reaction to Stick, and I’m thrilled to be making a second season with this magical cast, led by the incomparable Owen Wilson, and the wonderful creative team at Apple TV+,” Keller said in a statement. “It’s a joy to be able to continue this story. Most importantly, however, this season two order will provide me with an undeniable excuse to play even more golf.
