Riepilogo
Reviewers say 'Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage' garners mixed reactions. Praised for its character chemistry and strong performances, it continues beloved elements from 'Young Sheldon'. However, criticisms arise over the laugh track, unoriginal writing, reliance on sitcom tropes, and the lack of new, interesting characters. Despite these issues, there is optimism for improvement and appreciation for its potential.

This review is solely based on the first episode. I'll update the review after the season finale. First of all, it's great that we're still getting content for the Big Bang Theory "universe". I enjoyed most of BBT, and really enjoyed Young Sheldon even more in many ways. With Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage (G&MFM), we get the same wonderful characters from Young Sheldon from Mandy's side, with thankfully cameos from Georgie's family, such as his mom and MeeMaw (who I wish were also regulars or at least frequent recurring cast). The story so far is just ok, it's basically about the couple trying to survive while raising a daughter, while also dealing with Mandy's parents. All of that is decent so far. Here's some things that desperately need to change though: (1) As most of the other reviews mention - The laugh track/audience NEEDS to go, it's both annoying and dated. One of the biggest changes from BBT to Young Sheldon was the removal of the laugh track, and that made the series much more enjoyable so we the viewers can focus on the characters/story. I really hope they reconsider and remove it. (2) Mandy's mom for some reason seems different in character compared to her character on Young Sheldon. It's not just her hairstyle, but it almost feels like she forgot how to act like the character. I actually enjoyed her character on Young Sheldon, so I think the director needs to do a better job at directing the cast to be consistent with their characters. But I'll give that a pass for now since it's just the first episode. (3) The music choice throughout the episode is really unfitting. Using it in the opening credits actually fits because they're dancing (and I actually like it), but using it throughout the episodes feels so random because none of them are Argentinean nor is there any tango dancing theme throughout the show, especially with it being so loud too. I would expect softer, pop-rock background music like in Young Sheldon, or at least music you'd hear in Texas or Mandy's family, in that specific time frame. Hopefully they fix that as well, or at least turn it down a bit because both the laugh track/audience and random tango music is loud and distracting. That's my feedback for now. I'll update again once the season ends.
Young Sheldon was one of my favorite, if not my favorite show. So I looked forward to this as a continuation of that series, not a complete refresh.
While I liked the first episode and will continue to watch it, the one thing I found really annoying and distracting was the laugh track. The first time it occurred, within the first 15 seconds or so of the episode, I looked over at my wife and said "it's like they're trying way too hard to be funny." That's when it hit me that they were using a laugh track.
To me, the writing for this show seems to be designed to be much more of a comedy than Young Sheldon was, but most of moments when the laugh track chided in weren't really that funny. The first occurrence was just a one-liner from Georgie, and as the episode wore on, it got even more annoying, laughing at every verbal exchange.
The beauty of Young Sheldon was its being funny without trying - especially Sheldon and his naivete and lack of self awareness. All the characters played a role in adding to that, especially Georgie who has his own naivete.
I gave it a rating of 7/10 and hope the show will last since I've looked forward to it for a long time, but I'm skeptical that the laugh track will kill it if it continues.

It's a great show, so far. The characters are great, and the actors are still amazing. The laugh track will definitely take some getting used to since these characters don't have a history of having one in the background. There didn't seem to be very much actual show time. There seemed to be a ton of commercials. My biggest issue, at this point, has to be the music. The credit/opening sequence, with the dancing and the horrible music, might be fine in other shows, but it doesn't come close to working put for this show. To make matters worse, we have to here it over and over. It's terribly difficult, but I'll do my best to ignore it......for now.
I think this could be a really cute show. But to be honest I have some annoyances. Firstly I can't stand the music. I tolerated the theme show song because of the dance, but the music is the same throughout the show in every episode. It's terrible. It doesn't match the show. I feel like it's going to be the death of the show. It's a cute funny show but the music is more for a murder mystery show. It's a turn off. Also, the closed caption is sometimes displayed right in the middle of the top of the screen. It covers the actor's faces and annoying. And I do not like the mother in general and I don't care for the way Mandy treats her brother. But I hate the music most of all. Just sayin.
It is annoying, distracting, and completely pointless. Either bring in a studio audience like The Big Bang Theory, or do without completely it like Young Sheldon. Seriously, it is even worse than the one used on How I Met Your Mother (which is saying something).
Other than that, this show has promise. The pilot episode is a bit clunky, but that is true for most shows. Given enough time, this could be a pretty good spinoff (of a spinoff).
Seriously get rid of that horrendous laugh track. Even if it cured cancer, ended racism, stopped hunger, and brought about world peace... it still wouldn't be worth it.

- QuizThe truck Georgie is shown driving is the same one his dad, George Sr, drove in Young Sheldon. You can recognize the stickers in the rear window.
- BlooperIn the episode that aired on 4/24, when Mandy alerts Georgia and her father about her paycheck from the news station; you can see that the beer bottle Georgie puts down, there is nothing in it. Usually when actors do scenes and they want to keep continuity, they do not fill cups or bottles or have actors drink for fear that the actors will become too full or that the beverage inside them will have to be adjusted after every take.
