Hear Me: Our Summer

I watched this on a long flight where I was tired and needed to sleep. But the story was so interesting and charming that I watched it intently from start to finish. I am neither Korean nor hearing-impaired but I was able to follow the story easily.

This movie works because the three main actors are all excellent and believable. The male lead is like most love sick guys in his mid-20's. The girl he pursues he refers to as Smile, and with good reason. Her smile is electric and she has a great natural beauty. She is a star in the making. And her sister has a fascinating story as well.

Give this movie a chance. It is a real charmer.

'Hear Me: Our Summer' is the embodiment of summer. The story of youth. Color, setting, and music are all summery. Actors, acting, and costumes are fresh and cool.

The movie takes me back to my late 20s when I, too, did not know what to do with my life. Always somewhat nervous but full of life, hope, and dreams. It's so pleasant to see that young and fresh love as it is again.

Actors bring that freshness into the screen so adorably and realistically. I'm not even that much a fan of the romance genre, but Hong, Roh, and Kim, three main actors, make me believe and be absorbed into the story. New faces achieve so much in this movie.

The whole movie is placid, mild, and quiet. Not much drama. Even though there are a few dramatic events, the range of emotions stays calm. The funny thing is it is still absorbing without kicks or spices.
