Lalola

Man turns into a woman is a tired cliche. But "Lalola" is still interesting and funny ... for now.

Generally, I avoid this type of shows or movies because it is overdone to the point of being boring and all too predictable.

This series can't escape that, but it does have some different takes and possibilities for something more interesting and fun.

For one, our titular Lola has a mother and daughter, which can lead to new situations if the writers are brave and clever enough to pull it off. And so far in Season 1 things seem to be heading that way.

But they need to really avoid the hackneyed plots such as falling in love with that one good friend or co-worker. Please be more creative than that!

My God, how boring, I was hoping to see a fresh story, something different from the Argentine version, (which is quite good and interesting to date, being already 15 years old). But it's a copy/paste. The performances are absurd, I want to think that the comic tone is exaggerated, but ¨lalola¨ is not funny at all, like the characters of ¨Gastón¨ and ¨¨Facundo¨, the jokes are forced. I think they could have a better adaptation to the current era, in terms of characters and diversity. I don't recommend it, I don't think it brings anything new except on the comic side, and that's what the original version and its 9 or 10 previous adaptations are for.

I loved this series and cannot wait for the second season.

The story takes on tough gender equality issues in Mexican society that are vital to fix in a broken society where the value of a woman is reduced to being a housekeeper. Nothing wrong with that, until every woman is expected to conform to those roles and nothing else.

Barbara de Regil is hilarious, fresh, an incredible actress, so believable! You can see an actual man trapped inside a beautiful woman. The rest of the cast is very good too. I loved her best friend Alexa's character. She is so cool and sweet!

It's a comedy and drama with many plot twist. I like how they highlight many issues and themes that women have to deal with. I can binge watch this with my partner for sure. It manages to be light hearted while tackling series subjects like sexual harassment, pregnancy, domestic violence and gender pay gap, parenting, mixed family dynamics and homosexuality.

I recommend if you want to watch a Latino comedy and drama. I can't wait for the new season!

The actors are really amazing. Some of the things that happen are unrealistic but I can look past them because the rest of the story line is solid.
