Hridayapoorvam - A Charming, Feel-Good Watch with an Adorable Lal

Director Satyan Anthikad returns with Hridayapoorvam, bringing along his signature touch of warmth, simplicity, and emotional depth. Known for his relaxed narratives and tension-free storytelling, Anthikad succeeds this time in delivering a film that largely stays true to his familiar, comforting style - a quality some of his recent works had slightly lost.

At the heart of the film is Mohanlal, in fine form, exuding charm and likability. His performance is effortlessly endearing. The chemistry he shares with Sangeeth Prathap adds a humorous and refreshing layer to the film. Malavika Mohanan plays her part well, bringing just the right amount of grace and poise the role demands. Sangeetha too leaves a pleasant impression in her screen time.

Most of the time, the film feels real and natural, but there are a few scenes where the situations and characters don't feel very realistic. Still, these moments are fun and don't spoil the mood of the movie. In the end, the story comes together nicely with a warm and satisfying finish.

Hridayapoorvam is a breezy, feel-good film that makes for a pleasant family watch. It may not break new ground, but it does what it sets out to do - warm your heart, make you smile, and leave you with a sense of comfort.

A very light hearted movie!!

A total light hearted movie! Story revolves around a man who gets heart transplant making him obliged to go n attend donor's daughter's engagement n circumstances thereafter. A very simple movie that doesn't have any elements of suspense, thriller, excitement but yet keeps one engaged for a while. Also gets one bored here n there. Originally a Malayalam movie dubbed in all South Indian languages including Hindi. Available in JioHotstar, my ratings 6/10!

A light hearted comedy drama

Sathyan Anthikad's Hridayapoorvam is a light-hearted comedy drama made for a family audience. The film has a really good screenplay in the first half but becomes a little repetitive in the second half. The cinematography is commendable, and so is the music. Although the film is predictable, that isn't much of an issue, as the comic elements keep you engaged. Mohanlal delivers yet another performance. It's his charm that brings a smile to your face. Meanwhile, Sangeeth Pratap is simply brilliant with his expressions. Their on-screen chemistry is delightful. Malavika does a decent job, but her character feels written at a very surface level. Siddique and Sangeeta provide solid support.

A few characters from the supporting cast stand out, while others feel just okay. It's in the second half where the film tries to become an emotional journey, but it doesn't quite succeed in generating the emotions it intends to, mainly because the love angle feels a little awkward. Otherwise, with brilliant comedy in the first half and an average second half, Hridayapoorvam becomes a heartwarming watch that could have been even better if the emotions had worked. Nonetheless, it's worth watching if you're in the mood for a light film.

OVERALL 6/10.

A low-stakes, feel-good crowd-pleaser by the evergreen combo! [+62%]

A simple, feel-good film is all we ask from the Lalettan-Sathyan Anthikad combo, and that's exactly what we get in Hridayapoorvam. There are no big dramatic highs or lows, but the presence of a solid ensemble anchored by a sweet Lalettan performance makes this ride enjoyable for the most part. Justin Prabhakaran's music is refreshing; Venmathi is just beautiful to listen to. Malavika Mohanan is also good in a role that gets a more meaningful arc in the second half. But the standout here is Sangeeth Prathap -- good humour is based on "reactions" -- and Sangeeth's scenes with Mohanlal frequently elevate the film, even when it shows signs of sinking. Siddique, Janardhanan, and Lalu Alex make Hridayapoorvam more palatable overall.

Some specific sections could've made the film descend into 'cringe' territory, but the writing thankfully remains steady in the hands of Sonu TP (watch his short film already, if you haven't). Sangita is also a neat presence here, but I wish someone else had dubbed for her. For Sathyan Anthikkad, while this is nowhere close to his iconic works, it's a worthwhile comeback after the absolutely forgettable Makal. DoP Anu Moothedath makes the cast, and especially Pune, look magnificent. To summarize, this is quite the 'crowd-pleaser' -- for anyone looking to bring their friends and families to the cinemas.

P. S. Loved the styling/costumes for Malavika Mohanan -- she was an absolute stunner!

P. P. S. I'm not sure if either of the "cameos" hit the mark. But I'll give marks for trying!

Sathyan Anthikad & Mohanlal Strike Again

Hridayapoorvam is a feel-good Malayalam movie that leaves you with a warm heart. The story may feel familiar - like old wine in a new bottle - but the way it's told keeps us engaged till the very end.

One of the biggest strengths of the film is the lead character, played by Mohanlal. A role like this feels much safer and more effective in Mohanlal's hands. His natural acting and screen presence make the character very relatable and lovable. Director Sathyan Anthikad clearly knows how to bring out the best in Mohanlal, and their combination once again works beautifully here.

The chemistry between Mohanlal and Sangeeth is also a highlight. Their scenes together feel genuine and add charm to the film. All the other actors have also done a great job, contributing to the overall feel-good mood of the movie.

In short, Hridayapoorvam might not be a very new story, but it's told in a way that keeps us interested. With good performances, solid direction, and emotional moments, it's a movie worth watching.

Hridayapoorvam - A decent entertainer from Satyam Anthikkad and sons

Rating - 3.5/5

A light hearted feel good movie exploring relationship dynamics.

The story moves through the life of a heart transplant recipient in his late 40's, who gets stationed at Pune due to some unforeseen circumstances, develops a bonding with the donor's family and how it changes his attitude towards life forms the base of the story.

Good story by Akhil Satyan given life through subtle humourous dialogues and moments by Sonu. Satyan Anthikkad has given the natural feel of his movies through the opening shot itself thereby progressing into a heart warm storytelling by jelling with the new gen audience pulse and vibe into the narration. The filmmakers has also brushed upon the traumas within a family and how it gets healed over time.

Subtle performance by Mohanlal. Impressive performance by Malavika Mohanan upholding the character shades and managed to deliver the accent of a Mumbaikar Malayali brilliantly on screen. 👌🏻Sangeeth Prathap is the real show stealer of the movie managed to perform head on head with the Masterclass with his poised performances, attitude and timely humour. Good performances from Sangita, Sidhique, Lalu Alex & the guy who played Bibin Babu.

Good work by Anu Moothedan effectively capturing the beauty of Kerala & the pace of Pune city chopped into a warm entertainer by Rajagopal. Good Background scores by Justin Prabhakaran, sound design/mixing by Anil - Sinoy duo added with impressive costume design by Sameera Saneesh and kudos to the colourist Nitin Minz giving a vibrant and colourful frames.

A good watchable story for family by Satyan and sons promising a relaxed enjoyable experience.

A pleasant watch

A buoyant movie that smoothly travels through your mind and heart. As always, Mohanlal delivers his best with his humour and screen presence. Malavika does well to complement the story's journey. Sangeet also does his part well, even when sharing the screen with a complete actor. Overall, a relaxing experience that you can spend watching.

Movie lacks a solid plot

Unlike any Sathyan Anthikad film I have watched, this move lacks a solid story line and is built up on small made up unnecessary events and cringe jokes that might make a small portion of audience laugh. The movie as a whole feels like an amateurs effort to write a story and as if forgot to think about how the story would conclude. Mohanlal being Mohanlal has put his 100% to the role and there is nothing much he can do to make the movie better. You are not missing anything if you skipped this one.

Mohanlal Shines in a Heartfelt, Low-Key Drama

Hridayapoorvam is a refreshing step back from the violent, action-heavy films of the past. The story centers on a heart transplant, with Mohanlal delivering a brilliant, emotional performance. There's a fight scene, but it's simple hand-to-hand-much more grounded than over-the-top action. That said, it's a bit hard to believe his character, as a recent heart recipient with a back injury, can still fight.

Sathyan Anthikad blends gentle humor and family emotions effectively, and even minor roles-like the tea guy-add charm. The songs are okay, but Mohanlal's presence makes this a one-time watchable film worth remembering.

My honest review

Hridayapoorvam is a slow-paced, emotional drama with a simple storyline. The plot revolves around a heart transplant connected to Mohanlal's character, bringing out family emotions and a few light moments.

The biggest highlight is undoubtedly Mohanlal - his performance is extraordinary and keeps the film engaging throughout. Sathyan Anthikad stays in his familiar filmmaking style, mixing light comedy with emotions. The songs are okay, but not very memorable.

Overall, Hridayapoorvam is a one-time watchable film, carried almost entirely by Mohanlal's brilliance.

A Heartfelt Drama

Honestly, Hridayapoorvam is a simple film. But the long runtime makes it feel a bit slow.

The music by Justin Prabhakaran is good - it's nice and soulful.

Everyone in the cast has done well and fit into their roles. No over the top acting.

For me, the film worked only in parts. Some scenes connect, some don't.

Cinematography is clean and neat. Movie looks calm.

Overall : (2/5 ⭐)

A Simple Feel-Good Ride

The movie Hridayapoorvam starts off strong, with Siddique stealing the show in the first 20 minutes. After that, Sangeeth takes over and carries the film quite well. The placement of characters is perfect, especially Malavika and Sangeeth, who fit their roles beautifully.

The first half moves with a nice flow and keeps us completely engaged in the story. We feel like we are traveling along with the characters. But the second half slows down a little, and the story does not hold the same energy as the beginning.

Mohanlal, as always, simply lived his character and made it look effortless. By the time the movie reached the climax, the emotions were injected well, giving the audience a heartfelt connection.

Overall, Hridayapoorvam is exactly what we expect from a director like Sathyan Anthikkadu - a proper feel-good movie. It's not about twists or surprises but about a refreshing experience. If you enjoy light-hearted, feel-good stories, this one is surely worth a theatre watch.

Hridayapoorvam Movie Review: A feel good film resting firmly on Mohanlal's charm.

Hridayapoorvam Movie Review: A feel good film resting firmly on Mohanlal's charm.

Story: Sandeep, who is living with a heart transplant, is coaxed to attend the engagement of the daughter of the colonel whose heart he received. Over a month in Pune, he learns about how some relationships go beyond traditional bonds.

Review: Hridayapoorvam firmly has in place all the elements of a Sathyan Anthikad film; with its very human emotions, sweetness and loveable characters. But is that a workable formula among today's audiences?

Mohanlal plays Sandeep, a cloud kitchen business owner, who has had a heart transplant, so he is always accompanied by 'home nurse' Jerry, played by Sangeeth Prathap. This is probably one of the best sidekicks we've had in a while in our movies. To get back to the story, one day, Sandeep is paid a visit by Haritha (Malavika Mohanan), the daughter of the colonel, whose heart now beats in Sandeep's chest. She insists that he go to her engagement in Pune, so that she can feel the presence of her father on this special day.

Sandeep goes, but in a fracas that breaks out at the function, he is injured and must stay back in Pune. Over a month of this stay, domestic and relationship issues come up, some of which he solves wisely. In other instances, Sandeep, who first felt that there was no need for emotional involvements over the donated heart, learns that everything need not fit into our traditional societal framework and some relationships can go beyond that.

Sathyan Anthikad can never go too badly wrong with his direction and Sonu TP's script, based on a story by Akhil Sathyan, is also not bad. But today, on social media, we get to see videos of a donor's family meeting the person who has received this valuable gift of a heart or something else, and it is one of the most sweetly emotional moments we can witness as humans. Here the emotion seems to fall short, as does the comedy, which is good in some moments.

Also, some of the characters feel superfluous, such as the colonel's friend played by Lalu Alex or Mohanlal's aspiring filmmaker friends. Mohanlal is perfect, and carries this film with his charm, and so is Sangeeth; added to which, the chemistry between the duo flows very naturally. Malavika Mohanan and Sagita are good in their roles.

Cinematographer Anu Moothedath has captured lovely breezy, feel good frames in tune with the mood of the film. Justin Prabhakaran's music is just right, with very hummable tracks.

On the whole, Hridayapoorvam is a nice, feel good, family film, and maybe, it is just what might appeal to Malayali audiences during this festive season.

Verdict:Super-Hit.

Nice Family watch

Hridhya Poorvam is a nice family movie that feels warm and fun. The actors do a great job playing their parts perfectly. The comedy is soft and pops up here and there, making you feel happy and calm after watching. It's a good one-time watch, but the songs aren't very exciting. Perfect for a cozy family movie night! 7/10 stars.

"A Breezy New-Gen Touch from Sathyan Anthikad"

Hridayapoorvam marks Sathyan Anthikad's first attempt at telling a story in a modern, new-gen style while still keeping his trademark family-friendly touch. The film has a fresh ambience and feels different from his usual work. The first half is light, fun, and filled with humour, leaving the audience fully entertained.

Since the plot is thin and predictable, most of it is already revealed before the interval. As a result, the second half feels flat in terms of story. The writing keeps it engaging with situational humour and everyday moments, but the second half could've been a bit shorter. The biggest strength of the movie is the performances of Mohanlal and Sangeerh Prathap, who make sure the film never becomes dull.

Overall, Hridayapoorvam is a refreshing attempt from Sathyan Anthikad - free of his usual preachy tone - and works well as a lovely, breezy comedy-drama.

FANTASTIC MOVIE

Sathyan Anthikad is one of my favorite Film. But Hridayapoorvam is Mr. Anthikad's directorial venture I'm watching first time in a Theatre. It was a Fantastic experience. Mohanlal was Awesome. But very much missed Sathyan Anthikad's usual ingredients Innocent, Mammukoya and KPAC Lalitha, and also bicycle. The Story was really Amazing and light hearted. Performance by supporting cast was really appreciable.

Expecting more like this from Sathyan Anthikad - Mohanlal combo.

Heartwarming experience - Typical Satyan Anthikad flick

You know what you're going to experience before even watching the movie, thanks to Satyan Anthikad's previous films. It was a nice experience, and I'm happy that the story was smooth and many elements, like the supporting actors, stood out.

Mohanlal was amazing as usual but it was Sangeeth Prathap who maintained the flow of this film. There were a few unnecessary things that could have been easily avoided, especially the ending scene(no point at all). Many scenes would have been cringeworthy, but somehow they didn't end up that way, and it was okay.

This is a typical Satyan Anthikad film and is slow-flowing. If you don't have the patience to watch it and prefer to fast-forward the scenes, then I don't think this one's for you.

An utter disappointment

The movie hrydayaporvam is an utterly disaster movie in my opinion. Positive response about the movie made me to watch it in theatre. I felt like leaving at each and every point in this movie.

The few positive about the movie is performance of the cast members. The characters played by siddique and Sangeeth was good ,the jokes they cracked in their own style and their character arc in this movie was nice .

Technically the movie is not bad . The performance of other cast members was also not bad , but the character played by lalu alex was unnecessarily annoying.

The main failure of this movie is its story. The problem with its story is that it doesn't h have one.

A story which would only need a screen time of a short film is expanded upto to a point where it broke the mind of viewers. The jumpcuts from a particular seen to another felt disturbing more than a couple of times.

Their is an unnecessary fight seen at the end , like even if it cut from movie nothing changes .

Yes the movie might be enjoyable to a couple of audience but waiting for a satyam anthikad film for 7 years and finally watching one like this in theater made me disappointed.

Another feel good entertainer from Sathyan Anthikad - Mohanlal combo

Mohanlal as Sandeep Balakrishnan a heart transplant recipient is slowly coming back to his normal life. One fine day Ms. Haritha whose father's heart was being donated to him visits him & invites him for her engagement in Pune. Sandeep travels to Pune & thereafter Sandeep's life witnesses a change.

When it comes to Sathyan Anthikad sir's film, it never fails to convey the human emotions & again "Hridayapoorvam" conveys the human emotion which we tend to hear & see in sathyan sir's movie.

Mohanlal as Sandeep Balakrishnan had flawlessly performed & hence the character's pain, the revealness of the untold loneliness of Sandeep gets connects to us. Malavika Mohanan as

Haritha & Sangeeta as Devika had given a notable performance.

Sangeeth Pratap as Jerry had created laughter & his screen space with Mohanlal had taken back to the Mohanlal -

Sreenivasan; Mohanlal - Jagathy era. Siddique as selfish brother-in-law of Sandeep had given a notable performance in his limited screen presence.

Overall, a decent & refreshing to watch the simplicity of Mohanlal in a Sathyan Anthikad's world.

Light-hearted, simple, elegant

This was a good, clean, lovely - family movie!

It is not a masterpiece by any stretch of imagination, has few logical flaws - but it is highly enjoyable to watch. All the lead characters are well etched out, relatable and realistic! But supporting characters (apart from the male nurse) looks either under-developed or a bit cartoonish or caricatures.

Had the pacing been a bit better around the middle and some of the illogical scenes in the pre-climax (which isn't needed in the story - injected just for 'mass' appeal and looks force fit )

Overhyped drama- the online media effect

Cinema often thrives on strong storytelling, convincing performances, and an ability to emotionally connect with its audience. Unfortunately, Hridayapoorvam misses the mark on all three counts. Marketed as a heartwarming drama, the film comes across as an overhyped, disjointed attempt that never finds its soul.

The biggest weakness lies in the writing. A movie without a well-developed script is like a ship without a compass, and Hridayapoorvam proves this point all too clearly. The screenplay wanders aimlessly from one scene to another without a central conflict or a convincing arc. Instead of weaving together a coherent narrative, the film relies heavily on melodrama, filler dialogues, and overextended sequences that test the audience's patience. By the midpoint, it becomes evident that there is no real story being told - just fragments loosely stitched together to give the illusion of depth.

Equally disappointing is the performance of the female lead. A strong protagonist could have perhaps salvaged parts of this otherwise hollow film, but her portrayal is grating and unconvincing. Rather than embodying the character with subtlety and sincerity, the performance leans into exaggerated expressions and awkward delivery that come across as unintentionally comical. Instead of inviting empathy, it alienates viewers. Her screen presence feels more like a distraction than an asset, which drags the film down even further.

Visually, the film attempts to dress itself up with glossy cinematography and a melodramatic score, but these aesthetic touches cannot mask the absence of substance. Good production values alone cannot rescue a project when its foundation is so weak.

In the end, Hridayapoorvam is a textbook example of style over substance - a movie that was excessively hyped but fails to justify even half of the expectations surrounding it. It is not just forgettable; it is frustrating to watch. If you value your time and cinematic experience, this is one best avoided.

Strictly one time watch!

The film feels long but has its moments that genuinely evoke warmth. However, the screenplay falters in places, and the movie doesn't have a clear story or message-it feels scattered across the narrative, making it seem out of place at times. It doesn't quite have its heart in the right place, but it is still a one-time heartfelt watch for Mohanlal's screen presence and his appealing attire. Try watching it in the original language to truly experience the essence of its warm moments!

Act done by Mohanlal sir and Malavika was of cute category. Best... And other characters acting in the movie specially mohanlal sir's employee was the best.

Malvika Mother's act was natural.

The direction was dramatically went which gave a natural taste while watching a movie.
