Set in a time when there was few men and almost all women the men were protected and used for a game show to mate them with an ideal match which was corrupted in the way it was run. The lead actress is drop dead gorgeous and she can act on top of that. The problem I find with this is that if this was for real why not just let the men run loose and mate with as many women as possible to re-populate the country with more males. This doesn't make sense to me. There is probably going to be a season 2 in which they are hunted down by the lady who runs this whole sham and wants them bad. This should not take more than 6 episodes to wrap up this whole thing.
RSL continues a hot streak of Thai shows that I thoroughly enjoyed. It doesn't try to be too much, and you know what you're getting from the very beginning - an underdog story set against corpo elitism with some dark dystopian undertones. Nothing fancy. All of it easy to see.
What never ceases to amaze me is how these Thai shows end up far more enjoyable than their Korean counterparts who have 10-20 times the budget. But look closer and it is easy to understand why. In Thai shows, people act in harmony with their personalities. Not always logically, but consistent with how they are portrayed and how their history/up-bringing makes them as adults. In Korean shows, the never-ending illogical behavior, overly dramatic and nonsensical posing, and the martyrdom has gotten incredibly old. Just look at my reviews of Doona, Record of Youth, Castaway Diva, Welcome to Sandal-ri, etc. To see examples of how NOT to formulate a love story. K Dramas are trying to hard to be artsy and chic, that they can't get out of their way. Even Gyeongsong Creature features ridiculous choices by the lead characters.
RSL has none of that. It is simple, stays on message, and delivers an emotional ride.
So, why not 10 stars? Why only 8? Because I took off 2 stars for the completely unnecessary and pointless post-credits scene. It, a) Ruins all the good "feels" the ending provided, and b) Is an obvious attempt to tease a 2nd season. Though, this fails because the way the show ends does not lend itself easily to another season. It would have to be a drastically different show for that to work. (Think Hunger Games dark.)
So, do yourself a favor, and stop watching right when the first credit starts to roll. You'll thank me later.

I watched the whole thing in two evenings. Bright colorful and absolutely hilarious at times. The scenes were cut and directed beautifully almost like a choreographed dance level of getting the story and humor beats just right. However, the plot got kind of muddy, weak, and loses its fun whimsical quality at the last episode. It almost seemed like a completely different show with different characters. Also if plotholes bother you, this might not be the watch for you. There are a lot of things that are not explained that seem like a very obvious solutions. I don't mind because the story itself is so fun and doesn't take itself to seriously until the end. I also love the main character who (until the last episode) isn't just a tv quirky girl, but an actual hilarious mess. Loud, abrasive, has no manners, but still manages to make me root for them. If you love over the top, colorful camp, watch this show. You won't regret it.
This is an interesting dystopian series which mixes fun and sadness, real life and the dreamier version, friendship and love as well as hate and jealousy. The series has some resemblance to the Hunger Games, the Black Mirror, Squid Game (however not as brutal) and maybe even, to some extent, Bridget Jones. It was first time for me watching a Thai series. One should definitely watch it in the original language; please do not watch it dubbed, you miss out on so much then. I would say that this series is a salutation to freedom and equality, and mainly that one should be able to love whomever you want. I loved that it is queer and that it was simple yet deep. It was also wonderfully silly and goofy yet serious as well. It was about facing your fears and being able to do so with the people you love. To summarise, it was a surprisingly good balance! Thank you for giving me, a Swede, an insight in this quirky, yet with an important message, Thai drama.
It's a mixture of single inferno, squid game and a romantic comedy. It's funny and touching at the same time. If you have seen the bachelorette and you like it. Yes! This is a 6 episodes. I love the idea of what if the world have men as minority. Please watch it with an open mind and just enjoy the show.
I didn't know any cast and I didn't even expect anything from this show. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much. I never liked these type of show but this got me hooked on the first two episodes. Watch it straight from 1-6.
I hope there's a season 2. Please renew this Netflix. When the world is full of stress, this is what we need.
