The titular princess is a leader in humanity's Imperial Army during its battle against the demonic Hell-hordes. One day she, and her talking sword Excalibur, known as 'Ex', are captured. Now she will have to face the Hell Lord's chief torturer; Torture Tortura and her assistants. One might expect things to get rather unpleasant but this torturer employs rather unconventional methods... instead of inflicting pain she entices the princess to give up vital secrets by offering her delicious food! Her assistants use equally unconventional methods. Soon the princess almost considers them friends and rather enjoys her new life, much to Ex's consternation.
I really enjoyed this series. Yes it is all rather silly and a bit repetitive but it provides plenty of laughs in every episode. The characters are a lot of fun and one never really believes that anything unpleasant might happen despite the constant references to torture. I liked the character designs, especially the somewhat cute 'villains'. Overall I'd certainly recommend this to anime fans wanting some light-hearted silliness.

The anime seemed like a sweet story about a girl named Hime being pampered with delicious food and finding new friends. However, it turned out to be a total bait and switch! I was the one being tortured, not Hime, by the constant repetition that made finishing the show a chore. The first episode did a great job of drawing me in with its cuteness and lighthearted humor. Unfortunately, the jokes got old fast, and I regret sticking with it all the way through.
While the show recycles dialogue and scenarios, it lacks the wit to make repetition funny. I wish they'd focused on humor instead of just repeating the same lines. The characters are kind of boring. I wasn't looking for super complex backstories, but some more energetic or lighthearted personalities could have helped overcome the show's repetitiveness.
A shorter version, like 5-minute episodes, would have been great.

It's kind of boring, the same plot everything episodes the jokes become kinda boring after 4 or 5 episodes and that's s shame ok, overall it's not as enjoyable as some people think, the characters are not very interesting outside the sword and the two girls, it maybe needs a little more of sexual humor if you know what im talking about, overall looks good and sound good but that's pretty much all ok, its nit interesting, there is no real threat and its a very simple show tbh but in guess that's ok, people liked for some reason, the manga its somehow popular and maybe im missing something ok dont get mad with me.
Aight, so the entire point of this show is that a princess gets "tortured" some of life's pleasures, such as good food, amusement parks, and the Power of Friendship-and it works alarmingly well.
This one is a bit weird and formulaic to the point that you could crush this series in one sitting and call it good in terms of re-watching it. But it's not actually bad really. The characters have a bit of interesting depth to them and comedy hit on most parts where intended. The story line should be dull after a couple of episodes, but it's actually engaging sometimes and there is absolutely gorgeous backdrops in the show. Further, the series changes things up a bit here and there so the premise doesn't get worn out too quickly.
There are a few issues with the series in the premise gets recycled after a while and it seems there isn't much to engage the viewer if you aren't hooked in the few episode. This is one where you need to be invested to about episode 4 to get some variety. The animation is a bit weird in spots too in terms of character anatomy (sometimes the princess's ankles are a bit odd?).
All in all, it's not great, but it not bad either. Not by a long shot. I don't think it does the series justice to call it a "one-and-done", but there isn't much meat to revisit when/if you watch it. That said, there are far worse shows out there and I did enjoy this one.
