Pretty good movie with decent storyline but I don't know why Kajol's acting was way off , and obviously the plot is repeated the same logic to save the family u go out to somewhere else than one of your frnds call you back then something happens so your whole family have to come now at the end u face the enemy to be the ultimate galactic saviour ( obviously you will need god's power) you defeat the enemy and you be the hero I would rather recommend to watch SHAITAAN it's better than this m still giving this 5 starts coz other characters balanced the missing points but you can still feel the stretch again i dont have any hatred and this review isn't targetted to anyone this is my personal opinion.
Words can't fully capture what I witnessed. First off, Kajol was the perfect choice for this role-she brings a divine presence that no other actress could. Devgan Films is known for producing solid movies with folklore and mythology, so I was really excited to see this one.
However, as the movie progressed, it lost some of its initial impact. The introduction of modern elements like technology and AI felt out of place, pulling away from the traditional folklore vibe. Once a tone is set, it's important to stay true to it, and mixing in modern influences with ancient settings really disrupted the immersion.
Despite being marketed as a horror film, it didn't quite deliver on that front. Instead, it leaned more into a thriller-mystery territory, which is why I'm rating it a 6 instead of a 7. The plot had its inconsistencies-some character decisions didn't make sense, and certain characters were underutilized. The pacing was uneven, with some moments feeling dragged out and others rushed.
While I did enjoy parts of the film, I was left feeling a bit disappointed overall. It's not a bad movie and definitely worth watching, but don't go in with high expectations. Just take it for what it is, and you'll likely enjoy it more. I'm still looking forward to future Devgan films.

Vishal Furia's "Maa," starring Kajol in her first full-fledged horror outing, attempts to blend mythological horror with a potent tale of a mother's fierce love. While the premise is intriguing, and Kajol delivers a spirited performance, the film struggles to maintain a consistent tone and often falls prey to genre cliches, leaving it more muddled than truly terrifying.
The film's ambition often outweighs its execution. The narrative, while rooted in compelling mythology, becomes predictable. The demon, despite ample screentime, fails to evoke genuine terror, often resembling more of a mid-budget CGI creation than a truly menacing entity. The writing is a significant weakness; despite tackling powerful themes of patriarchy and female strength, the script feels bland and repetitive in parts, losing its grip, particularly in the muddled second half and climax extremely disappointing. Better to watch on ott rather than going theatres.
The film's connection to the "Shaitaan" universe is present but doesn't necessarily elevate "Maa" in a significant way. While it aims for a compelling horror experience with a beating heart of maternal love, the inconsistent pacing, reliance on conventional horror tropes, and a surprisingly weak emotional core prevent "Maa" from reaching its full potential.

This movie is dull and slow. The story is very basic and doesn't have anything new or exciting. It feels like it was just put together without much thought. The main cast seems to have been picked based on popularity, not actual acting talent.
Kajol, in particular, looks outdated and shows very little range in her acting. In the past, her weak performances were easy to overlook because stronger male actors carried the films. But in this movie, her limitations are very clear.
Surprisingly, the extras and background actors do a much better job. They feel more real and help move the story along more than the leads do. There are also some truly talented actors in the film, but their roles are so small that their skills go to waste.
The pace of the movie is another big issue-it drags on and on. It takes forever for anything meaningful to happen. Overall, this movie is a missed opportunity and a disappointment.

Maa had the potential to be a genre-bending experience, but it stumbles despite Kajol's stellar performance. She brings depth and emotional gravitas, making you feel every ounce of a mother's fear and desperation. Unfortunately, the film's uniqueness is undercut by its painfully predictable plot and reliance on tired horror tropes. The jump scares are formulaic, and the visual effects barely meet the mark. Worst of all, the villain looks like a budget Vecna knockoff from Stranger Things, more laughable than terrifying. Maa tries to be profound, but ends up being a stylishly packaged, hollow echo of better horror films.
