Honestly, how dare anyone who touched the creation of this series: the narcissism and disrespect of choosing to speak for someone who is dead. It feels macabre, it feels arrogant for people to be like 'Oh yeah that's totally what she would say lets put that': even with the family participation in the creation of the episodes it is WILDLY out of place and does nothing but sound contrived and feel gross. Some random voice-over person saying "It won't bring me back, but in a way I'm STILL here" in a sad voice just does NOT do any part of a victim justice and completely detracts from a pretty standard Real Crime docuseries. The crimes were FASCINATING, but every time someone chimed in like a weird ghost hanging out in the back of the squad car with the detectives, it just KILLED whatever was going on.
Thank you so much for creating this series. I found it to be such a beautiful way for the deceased to be remembered. I also thought that the families that spoke on behalf of their loved ones were very courageous in doing so. There is so much PTSD when reliving these traumatic and horrific events. I have worked in the funeral business and in production of films and to me the producers of this series hit the nail on the head when dealing with the sensitivities of death and the stories behind them. No one knows better than family and close friends what their loved ones would be thinking at those times then them. Thank you for creating this series, wonderfully made!
I started crying almost immediately when I started watching episode one of Me Hereafter - First, She Stole My Baby. I knew immediately that the ending was going to be heartbreaking. But the producers were able to bring a sense of hope after such pain. And that makes this an incredible series.
The premise of the series is one that was new to me. "Hearing from the dead" is something I've seen in a few movies, but never in a true crime series. That was incredibly powerful, But what made it even more powerful is how the producers were able to weave the testimony from those left behind. To hear them talk about the victim - someone who lived, who loved, who was as flawed as any one of us - was so impactful. It made the stories much more relatable by tying together the voices of those who were killed and those who were left behind.
These aren't easy stories to hear. But they are stories that need to be told. Stories of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and clerical abuse are often told with "kid gloves." The filmmakers for Me Hereafter told them with empathy and passion.
Watch this series. You won't be sorry.

If you like true crime as much as I do, you should watch Me Hereafter. It is 100% the most unique take on true crime that I have ever seen. It weaves the voices of the dead with the voices of the living. And it is incredible.
Two episodes that really hit me hard are the 1st and the 4th episodes. One dealt with the murder of an indigenous woman in Fargo, North Dakota. The missing and murdered indigenous women issue in the upper Midwest is not taken nearly as seriously as it should be. The producers of Me Hereafter realized the impact of this on the community and told the story that needed to be told.
The other episode that really hit home was "The Funeral Home Murders," which took a hard look at clerical sexual abuse, which is something that too many people want to ignore or justify. Me Hereafter didn't do that. They exposed it.

There's no spark of life in this series. It's just so slow that it is morose and melancholy in itself. 5 minutes *feels* like an hour.
It's like it's filmed and edited.. then slowed down to 3/4 speed and produced. All the speech from everyone is slow in nature... No one seems to speak with a normal pace. All the narration and "talking heads" just convey a sense of "sleepiness" - as if you want to tell then to "spit it out already". The scenes are slow moving... slow fades to black or transitions between everything... the soundtrack is slow meandering tones....
It's as if the producers were loaded up on sedatives, then finalized this.
This may be great for some, but honestly, it'll put me to sleep. It's akin to listening to a relaxation audio lesson. Shame.. victims will be lost due to the very poor production.
The notion of a victim telling their own story was interesting... but this is just the WORST way it could have been done.
