This is a love letter to the best script writers that ever picked up a pen:
Nando Abad
Alberto Caballero
Daniel Deorador
Julian Sastre
Araceli Alvarez di Sotomayor
Take a bow, all of you. Although the actors are all fine at their jobs, this script is beyond exceptional and deserves whatever writing awards there are. The detail in every joke is so precise that it takes this comedic concept to a level I have never seen elsewhere. Keep it up! Favorite example, Chemi pointing to his picture of a boat and telling his mother "we are at the helm" as he points to the stern.

I'm normally not into comedies, but this one is dark and absolutely hilarious, I was hooked after first five minutes. The dialogues are funny and do not slack, so they really keep you focused. Actors are all great, from main characters to those who shine behind them in each episode, their comic delivery is wonderful. Can only recommend it, especially to those who loves Spanish sense of humour.
Muertos, S. L. is not a comedy for everyone, but for those who enjoy dark humor, irony, and sharp dialogue, this series is an unexpected gem. The Caballero brothers once again prove their mastery in costumbrista comedy, but this time they take it to the extreme with a funeral home as the central setting. The concept itself is provocative enough, but what really makes it work is the fast-paced writing and the chemistry among the actors.
Carlos Areces is brilliant. His ability to deliver uncomfortable humor and say outrageous things with a completely straight face gives his character a unique charm. But he's not alone- the entire cast maintains an excellent level, making even the most absurd situations feel believable and ensuring that the gags land, even in the most surreal moments.
The series moves at a quick pace and achieves something that few comedies manage: balancing absurdity with sharp satire. Some episodes are weaker than others, but overall, Muertos, S. L. is one of those bold projects that eventually find their audience. It doesn't try to please everyone, and that makes it even more enjoyable.

This show is hilarious!!! I'm a couple of episodes into S2 right now.
So surprised there aren't enough reviews for it yet. It's perfect for anyone who enjoys dark humour.
The characters are so well done. And the writing is intelligent.
Only thing is they speak very fast, so for non Spanish speakers it takes a bit of effort at first to pay close attention to the subtitles. But I found it's totally worth the effort.

Through some mechanism of Netflix's algorithm (and my relentless selection of good comedy, regardless its origin), three excellent comedies were recommended to me overnight: The Hot Spot (Japan); Fisk (Australia); and this one.
I'm glad when something grabs me before the 10-minute mark; that's my first limit. Sometimes I extend it to 15, and if something upsets my scrutiny, bye, that's as far as I go. But this one, like another reviewer said, did it instantly.
I should clarify that my profession (and my life; I was born within this company) is closely tied to the funeral industry, and much of what people outside of this business consider "dark" humor is, to me, just humor, or sometimes just an anecdote. Many of the "crazy" situations actually happen, unbeknownst to "the outside world." Still, thanks to an impeccable script, top-notch production, and a cast of solid actors, I was completely hooked and can't wait to start watching it again.
There are characters to choose from, depending on the type of comedy you enjoy; my favorites are the Dámaso Carrillo/Pablo Morales duo, Nino and Chemi. Carrillo harshest deliveries with a straight face and ridiculous machinations are hilarious at least; the poor Morales, his intern, shows every thought in his face with a technic many older actors would envy. Nino's extremelly inappropriate (like another great japanese series) lines are outrageous and Chemi's disparate "marketing" ideas had me laughing for days.
Totally recommend watching this, with the exception of those who have lost someone recently.
