Loved seeing huge, realistic trolls stomping around like they jumped out of Scandinavian fairy tales. CGI is fantastic, destruction scenes are fun, perfect dumb monster movie vibes. Story is super simple and predictable, acting is meh, script nothing special. Didn't see the first one but now I want to. Easy one-time watch, maybe rewatch if you love big trolls. Solid 6/10.
As a Norwegian myself I feel embarrassed both of the story and especially the weak acting in this film.
Story wise I belive it could be a lot more intriguing and should have more depth.
This whole movie is just a weak sauce of bad storyline, dry jokes, and really really bad acting!
I mean, come on, military would never act anything near of what you see in this movie.
With the beautiful nature Norway has, the romantic mythic nostalgia that trolls represent. So much wasted potential...

I wasn't very impressed, in fact the same as with the first Troll, Sure, the CGI of the creatures looks great and totally works, but to be honest, they look very much like oversized Chewbacca-clones, and apart from the size and the big teeth, they are hardly menacing, but mainly silly with these giant noses and furry beards. The story is paper thin and pretty cliché: the government experimenting in secret on the monster, the stubborn and eccentric professor know-it-all that is flown-in, and then somehow the monster breaks loose, goes rampant and the professor has to come up with some genius scheme to save the world. That this professor herself is totally responsible for the monster to break out, and another scientific lady thwarts the one possibility to nip the troll's escape in the bud, is conveniently overlooked in the rest of the story, as well as the hundreds of casualties that they both cause with their stupid behavior.
The action scenes are fine, like all the chases with helicopters, and the VFX are great. But in between, there are many moments that the pace sags dangerously, the editing could definitely have been more sharp. The dialogues between the main characters aren't razor-sharp either, and the many intended funny lines frequently fall flat. It didn't help that main character Nora (Ine Marie Wilmann) is extremely annoying, all the time behaving cranky and self-righteous and stupid (like standing frozen between the skyscraper-sized legs of two fighting trolls for instance, gazing up at them in almost infatuated rapture!). In short: as an action vehicle and a Godzilla or King Kong clone reasonably entertaining, but nothing more.

First one was way, I mean WAY better than this. This feels like a comedy movie rather than anything else. Writing seems so bland and lackluster. The characters are soooo unlikeable. She revives the troll but tells major dont do anything stupid :) I burst into laughter. Seriously these movies need far more better writing.
This movie is somehow worse than the previous one. The dialogue is so bad, it's like the writers have never participated in a real life conversation before. If aliens were to write a human interaction, this would be the result. Utter garbage, and an embarrassment of Norwegian entertainment. It's genuinely embarrassing that this movie represents my country. The plot and action is all copy-paste from Hollywood, and not in a good way. Very bland and predictable. The actors try their best with what they have but it's not salvageable. Please don't watch this movie.

- QuizAndreas (Kim Falck) calling his wife's unborn child a "nilbog" is a reference to the film Troll 2 (1990).
- BlooperWhen in Nidarosdomen one character says repeatedly that silver don't rust when they find a sparkling silver item. Where as Silver don't rust, it'll still tarnish and blacken over time. And definitely after 1000 years.
