Friday Night Plan (streaming on Netflix) is a coming-of-age comedy film about two teenage brothers, Siddharth (Babil Khan) and Aditya (Amrith Jayan), who team up to attend the hottest party of the year after their mother leaves for a work trip. The film follows the brothers as they navigate the ups and downs of their first big night out, all while learning more about themselves and each other.
The film's strongest asset is its cast. Babil Khan and Amrith Jayan are both excellent as the bickering brothers, and they have great chemistry together. Juhi Chawla is also good as the boys' mother, and she brings a lot of warmth to the role. The supporting cast is also solid, with Ninad Kamat, Medha Rana, and Aadhya Anand all giving admirable performances.
The film masterfully balances humor and heart, filled with numerous laugh-out-loud moments intertwined with touching emotional scenes. It offers a realistic portrayal of teenage life, capturing the awkwardness, excitement, and uncertainties of adolescence through believable and relatable characters. Central to the narrative is the celebration of brotherhood; the bond between Siddharth and Aditya serves as the film's emotional core, making it delightful to witness their relationship deepen as the story unfolds.
The film's direction is also effective. Vatsal Neelakantan does a good job of capturing the energy and excitement of the night out, while also providing some touching moments between the brothers. The film's screenplay is also well-written, with plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments.
If you are looking for a heartwarming and funny film about the power of brotherhood, then I highly recommend Friday Night Plan. ...

Directed by Vatsal Neelakantan. Really good feel nice movie of brotherhood. All the cast are amazing. Babil Khan ( Irfan Khan's son) and Amrith Jayan will steal your hearts as the most amazing cunning loving brothers. It's about how Juhi Chawla goes out of town for work, and the two brothers go for a Friday night plan party. Babil khan being the new hero as he won the football match for the school, suddenly the party gets all interesting for the brothers. How they prank the other school kids, and all the brotherly moments, and how the real connection is what results in love, is nicely shown. Everyone acted really well.
I am extremely biased towards a good movie that narrates a story of a siblinghood and its small nuances. The story is uncomplicated and the narrative is pretty straight forward and essentially carries the essence of innocence both in dialogue, framing and overall flow of the story.
A huge reason why a lot of us (including me) watched this movie is because of Babil Khan, and the reminiscing memory and image of his wonderful extraordinaire father, Late Irfan Khan. And it's no question that despite of this immense pressure to keep up his father's name, Babil does extreme justice to his effortless acting legacy. Moreover the best part is, even if he was not the son of such great persona, the viewers would still love his performance.
Now coming to the movie it is a simple flowing story of an introvert overthinking older brother, Siddharth who has a stark contrasting younger sibling Aditya living with their single Mom (Played by ever gorgeous Juhi Chawla), and the chaotic story that takes place in a single day in their everyday life in absence of their mother. The chemistry of two brothers is a spitting image of everyday reality of many (if not all) brotherhood. It is warm, fuzzy, nostalgic and if you're away from your sibling, it will make you want to call them to reminisce your childhood days.
Special mention to the scenes where Amrith Jayan has given a spectacular performance of hyping his older brother up as a reflection of exactly how much he looks up to him.
A brilliant light hearted movie that can be rewatched more than once.

Agreed with some of other comments that this showcased Indian upper class school kids life, but that's also a part of India isn't it?
This is far better than a lot of high budget movies that are all bling and fail to connect at any level with their audience.
Even though not much happened in terms of story, but the depiction of emotions and a touch of complexity added to each character was a treat to watch. Indian cinema needs many more such movies.
Could have used some great angles to add some more depth to the story but not sure why they were not fully explored even though there were hints of something more riveting all over.

Again Babil Khan impressed me with his simple and stable performance. The character he played as a responsible and disciplined brother with an introvert persona, is quite similar to me. Also the relationship, fights, understanding between two brothers shown in this movie is very smooth for the audience.
Juhi chawla played a beautiful understanding mother role which we expect from our parents.
Overall Friday Night Plan or FNP is a one time watch for all type of audience. It keeps you engaged through it's teenager kind story and at the end also it gives you a lesson that, Not every responsible person is always right and not every prankster is bad from heart...
