I knew this was garbage as soon as I saw the butt ugly dude this African American woman was supposed to have a fling with. This garbage of a movie reminded my of those 70's & 80's Italian flicks which had gorgeous women and the ugliest male leads imaginable.
There is no way in Hell that she would even have thought about seeing this clown, much less having sex with it. He could have been the very last male on the planet and she would have opted for going lesbian instead, better yet celibate.
So these high score are probably from people associated with this movie. I can see no way that anyone who doesn't have their head in the sand or up their patootie giving this atrocity anything higher thana minus 1,000.

No pun intended - another low budget horror movie. For some that might be a red flag, but those who love independent horror will cherish this movie, that is slow paced, but never fails to deliver on the premise - to tell a good story and scare you along the way.
One of the things I love with movies like this: characters that are believable. Yes you may be able to guess a few things and not be too surprised by any twist coming your way. But the characters do have their reasons for acting (no pun intended once again) the way they do.
Not sure if the directors will do any additional effects work, but the version we got to see at Frightfest was pretty tight and good looking already. Cinematography was quite nice, again not sure if there will be some color grading or other stuff of that nature. The movie would warrant at least another viewing with the knowledge of where it ends up - endings can make or break a movie, I thought it was in tune with the tone the movie set out and had throughout.
Not sure when I will be able to post the review, since the movie currently has a release date in 2024 - but I hope it gets the distribution it deserves and am looking forward to seeing more of all involved.

An intriguing film and a great take on an age old issue. The camera angles are hauntingly magnificent and there is just enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. Character study doesn't disappoint and the actors play their role as they feel it with a great deal of conviction. The scenery is beautiful, but in the charming town all is not as it would appear. The director, writers, producer, and all involved with the production of CHEAT has provided a thought provoking movie through the story, music and camera angles.
You will want to be faithful to your partner forever after watching this one!

I had the opportunity to see this movie at fright fest this past year and honestly really enjoyed it. It has a characters that are actually likable(which i find hard to do in horror/suspense) and don't have you rolling your eyes at them every 5 seconds. This suspenseful indie film will hold your attention the entire duration of the film. I do believe it's the only time i've ever been on the ghosts side of a horror movie too(a pleasant twist)
I also had the opportunity to meet some of the cast/film crew while at fright fest and meeting them made the movie all the better. Each of them were so kind and really makes me want to see their film succeed.

Not a big horror movie fan, but I'm a huge sucker for a good plot. Gave it a shot... excellent . The horror wasn't over the top. The story behind the hauntings sufficiently prepared us for the appearance of "the Amish girl" (she's not Amish 😆) The setting made the story believable, livable as we travel through the town following the characters' steps and missteps as they desperately try to figure out what is happening to them and how to escape what appears to be an inevitable fate. I appreciate how the ending wrapped everything up nicely without leaving the ever stagnant questions of "but why...?"

CHEAT is an exceptionally well-made genre film. It has scares in all the right places and gets you carried away with its awesome cinematography, sound design and score.
Highly recommended for any fans of the independent horror scene. This is a movie that doesn't need big stars or a big budget to deliver what it promises. The performances are solid, and the story is engaging. It has genuine suspense built-in, and the confidence of the filmmakers delivers scares along the way.
I was excited to see this film after watching "Long Dark Trail", and I am confident it will make a fan of you too. See CHEAT!

"Cheat" is a well-crafted thriller with strong performances and a tense, engaging atmosphere that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The pacing keeps you hooked, and the cinematography adds to the film's eerie tone, enhancing the overall tension.
