Recensioni in evidenza
Apparently the makers of this production meant to come up with an original and (very!) unconventional approach to the well-known Cinderella fairytale: turning it into a supernatural slasher-/horror story. Now these old fairytales originally weren't as sweet and Disney'ish as the 20th century has re-invented them, but here they really went totally overboard: this version is nothing but one big blood-soaked gore-pandemonium! It's a Cinderella drowning in a hotchpotch of Hellraiser, Wishmaster and Evil Dead, all in one.
Even in the introductory scenes the violence of the terrifying stepmother and her evil daughters is of Saw-like proportions. But when, after the pivotal ball at the palace, Cinderella shifts into her revenge-mode, all fuses are blown and a hysterical killing-spree starts among all the guests, turning the party into a chaotic frenzy of screaming victims who are stabbed, amputated, torn to shreds and devoured one by one by Cinderella-turned-demon and her Cenobite-like helpers, amidst never ceasing fountains of blood. The VFX- and make-up people probably have had a real ball, but at home I watched in disbelief.
Okay, the acting was reasonable, Kelly Rian Sanson is pretty, Danielle Scott makes a fearsome stepmother, and sleek prince Sam Barrett was at least allowed to show some impressive skin. But that was all. Maybe, just maybe, it could have worked, when they had made it into some kind of comedy, but alas, not one laugh to lighten up the day. What remained is the overblown result of a writer's crazy fantasy, executed on steroids. It's not even camp, just bad. Avoid!

... it's just so poorly executed. I.e, the storytelling is s**t. It doesn't unfold in any good way. We're thrown into an action scene to start. It's a teaser. It shows us the kind of thing to expect in the rest of the movie. "This is what we're selling" the filmmakers are saying. All right. But then following that, instead of going into a proper beginning where everything is clearly set up, we meet the protagonist, we are given a reason to like them and root for them, etc, etc, we're just thrown into the middle of another bit of action, but it's just meaningless dramatics at this point because nothing has been set up. We're feeling nothing, nor could we be expected to because we know nothing yet about what's going on. The director's storytelling instincts just aren't there. Unfortunately this is a movie that starts off on the wrong foot and pretty much just hobbles along from there.
The movie is so bad, the make up looks great but other then that... the special effects are terrible for a movie from 2024.. the acting is not convincing enough and overall it's just way to much blood. I was hoping for suspense but I cringed more.
I really wished this was a better movie but I guess you're better off finding another horror if that's what ur into! Cinderellas curse is nothing I wished it would be. It's all over the place and the storyline is very weak! I hate bashing on a movie so much cause I'm sure they all worked hard to make it but it just didn't pay off whatsoever! But again props to the make up team!

Cinderella's Curse is a bold reimagining of the classic fairy tale, taking a darker and more twisted approach than Disney's 1950 version. Directed by Louisa Warren, this film dives into the horror genre, offering a fresh yet chilling perspective on the beloved story.
The plot follows Cinderella, played by Kelly Rian Sanson, who discovers an ancient book that summons a vengeful fairy godmother. This twist transforms the tale from a simple rags-to-riches story into a gripping narrative of revenge and dark magic. The film's atmosphere is eerie and intense, with stunning visuals that bring the sinister elements to life. While the movie excels in creating a haunting ambiance and delivering unexpected plot twists, it falls short in character development and pacing. Some scenes feel rushed because it is a 78 minute runtime so that js probably why, and the characters, especially the evil (karen) stepmother and stepsisters, lack depth
However, the performances, particularly by Chrissie Wunna as the fairy godmother, are commendable and add a layer of intrigue to the film. Cinderella's Curse is a decent watch for those who enjoy horror and fantasy genres. It may not reach the timeless charm of Disney's 1950 classic, but it certainly offers a unique and thrilling experience that stands out in its own right. If you're in the mood for a dark twist on a familiar story, this film is worth a watch.

This was nothing but a low rent Carrie remake with a hint of the Cinderella fairy tale thrown in. There really isn't anything good I can say about this. I only gave it a two because it killed an hour on a Saturday night. Not bad if you want to make a drinking game out of finding all the continuity errors.
Every one of the characters and the actors were annoying. The "effects," what there were of them, couldn't have been worse if they were hand drawn and animated by a three year old with a crayon. The flashbacks were annoying and made no sense whatsoever. The opening sequence had zero bearing on the rest of the movie at all.
Oh good.... Minimum character limit met. Thank God, because I could not talk about this trainwreck any longer.

- QuizMore than once we see modern lamps, shades and all, sitting on tables. After the ballroom scene, an electric light switch is also visible in a hallway near Cinderella's head.
