It's Kevin

Me and my brother look forward eagerly to this show all week, it's brilliantly funny, zany and completely mad. Some of the sketches are slightly less amusing than others, granted, but they all have this wonderfully crazy feel to them. From it's low rating, I feel like some people just don't get it. I think it helps to watch every episode as there are a great deal of recurring characters, which really add to the fun. Kevin Eldon is brilliant in it, the theme song at the beginning is possibly the best part about the show (especially in episode 4) because it is so Kevin central.

Brother says: It's truly irreverent rather than pretending to be so. It mixes that with a genuine warmth and exuberance down to the admirable talent of the man himself.

It's Kevin! is a long over due solo TV project by Kevin Eldon aired on BBC2. Not only is he one of the best comedy actors of his generation (Eldon is well known for his appearances in many renowned British comedys/ sitcoms, these include such greats as Spaced, TMWRNJ, Big Train, Brass Eye, Nighty night, Alan Partridge and loads more)his show benefits from his witty and clever comedy stylings. He has a marvelous skill for writing a downright catchy song that remains immensely funny throughout, I still often find myself singing the theme tune as I go about my day but as he rewrites it every episode it's hard to get the words consistently right. Highlights from the show include Adam Buxton's extra hairy record breaking attempt, the history of the sandwich and, also, the punk French folk singer Alain Dubois. From the, somewhat unfair, star rating on here it would seem to me that It's Kevin! may have just gone over people's heads.

If you need laugh tracks to remind you that something is funny, than Kevin is not for you. If you love the mainstream cookie-cutter comedies that are indistinguishable at their core, than Kevin is not for you. If you don't 'get' shows like Snuf Box, Comedy Bang Bang, or Mighty Boosh, than Kevin is not for you (maybe you should stick to the teletubbies).

It's Kevin is smart, quick, and an oasis from the heaps of garbage that executives bulldoze towards the masses. Granted, many people eat that garbage, like rats in a landfill, but I'm can't stand the taste of stale clichés.

I love It's Kevin because it's new and something I've never experienced before. It's slated for only 6 episodes but I don't think the novelty will have worn off after only one season.

There are some bitter people who feel inferior for not understanding this show. Don't let their ratings discourage you from trying it out.

Too bad this didn't get more attention. I thought it was rich, original and refreshing piece of surrealist comedy.

It's easy to just through absurdity at the audience (which is my main problem with Monty Python). But like Family Guy, Eldon was intelligent about the gags he chose and gave us a free-wheeling piece of frivolous entertainment where he hosts the show in front of white void and fun sketches are sprinkled in.

Some of the sketches I found particularly clever is one where an awkward dinner party conversation is stripped to the bare formula and a series where some strange parallels are drawn between the the rise of the Beatles and of Nazi Germany.

Unique, even when examined next to other counts of bizarre sketch comedy.

OK, there are two ways that this rubbish got on TV... Kevin Eldon asked if he could have a six part 'comedy' show and the BBC said yes right away without even a second thought, or... Kevin Eldon was offered a six part comedy show by the BBC because nobody else wanted to do one.

This unoriginal assembly of silly gags borders on unwatchable. It's just further evidence of how unaccountable the BBC is and how it spends all that money. From the narcissistic opening song to the stretched out terrible jokes, this is going to be difficult for anyone with a whole brain to sit through. (I sat through the first episode so you don't have to.)

Kevin Eldon is simply not a funny man and has no original ideas. He's actually capable as an actor and has put together an impressive acting resume... but this shouldn't be a part of it.
