"There's a very fine line between love and hate". Anna Bell, a successful English pop singer, retreats to her country cottage to concentrate on writing new material, she starts having an affair with a local young handyman. She has a drink and drugs problem but when a young girl is murdered nearby (in Giallo fashion) things get a whole lot worse. Anna is played by blonde stunner Debbi Stevens (pity about the mullet!), she looks looks very similar to real singer/model Sam Fox, only with a smaller bra size. Unfortunately her singing is as bad as her acting and I found this very amusing, at least she wasn't shy about stripping off in front of the camera. I am gradually working my way through a Blu-ray box set of the micro budget films of Michael J Murphy, so far I would say that this is the weakest one. However taking things into account I always find positives in his movies. My 4/10 is perhaps a little generous, if another reviewer rated it say 1 or 2 I wouldn't argue with them. Torment has bad acting, poor continuity, a killer reveal half an hour into the plot (which was pretty obvious anyway) and the print looks and sounds awful. On the plus side the plot is dead easy to follow, we have sex scenes, a few gory kills, a funny gay character called Guy and the knowledge that a lot of heart must have gone into making it.
