When I watched first episode, I was not that hopeful and it took some effort to continue. Having watched so many Sherlock adaptions already, this one felt unnecessary and KK appeared to be out of role and overacting. But as series progresses, you not only adjust to his style of acting, you also start to appreciate the background, the 90s setting and all the characters.
The stories are all adapted from original Sherlock stories but have that Bengal touch to it that still gives these stories some unique flavour.
The climax is good and though it starts to become obvious as end nears, it's definitely not entirely predictable and manages to throw in a good surprise.
I definitely recommend this series for anyone looking to enjoy a series during a relaxing evening.

Smart, quick witted and desi adaptation of the Sherlock series. While one constantly keeps the comparison on the back of the mind all the time, this is quite well written despite the tall standards it has to live up to. Kay Kay Menon does a phenomenal job. Though i would have preferred a younger lad to don his role. After a long long time one can really look forward to a desi sleuth series next edition.
The 90s setting, the Bengali nuances and the top notch characters written for the supporting roles as well puts this as an interesting one to binge watch. Each episode is quite different and yet seamlessly blends and transitions from the previous one. And the plots are well written to make it believable in the 90s setting.

Watched this series with low expectation.. And watched it for KK Menon and Ranvir Shorey and they didn't disappoint. Every episode has a different detective story except the last two episodes which are interconnected.
At first I thought it would be a adaptation of Sherlock Holmes series but it's not. I repeat it's not.
There isn't any big mystery or something in every episode but they were decent and it won't bore you.
Although there is a bit of shocker waiting for you in climax which gives this series a bit more breath of fresh air... Otherwise I would have given it 6/10 had it went on expected lines..
Enjoy 🍻

Rohan Sippy and Srijit Mukherjee's direction in Shekhar Home is a perfect blend of suspense and humor. They've created a unique atmosphere that feels both tense and playful, making the series a joy to watch. The attention to detail in the setting and character development is impressive, and their ability to balance multiple storylines without losing focus is a testament to their skill. I don't understand. Why we settle for cheap copy paste. Why can't we be original like Byomkesh Bakshi? May be stalwart like KK Menon needed money, but do we realise how all this impacts Brand 'Bharat'? Brand KK Menon? May be people who are going gaga over this haven't seen the original yet. Once they see the original they'll realise that there's nothing much to offer in direction, story line and even acting (as one needs to just copy the character). I started watching it and quickly realised the references from original are not just references, they are exactly lifted from the original show (Sherlock)
