I do not know if the makers of Thanara has acknowledged the fact that it is an exact copy of the 2020 Marathi movie 'Choricha Mamla'. Even the names of most of the characters are the same.
The plot revolves around an 'honest' thief who steals only the exact amount he needs. He even keeps the change back!
Our 'honest' thief decides to steal what he needs from the farmhouse of the local MLA. He came to know that the MLA has gone to Delhi and would not be coming back for another 5 days.
What happens next is quite interestingly portrayed...
Overall, all the actors have played their role very well. Though the actor playing the main role of Shradha seems to get a bit lost sometimes.

Thaanara (Who Are You) is mindless fun, the kind of slapstick comedy that I sorely miss in Malayalam cinema these days. Looking at Shine Tom Chacko's overacting in the intro gave me false hopes but then it picked up as Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Deepti Sati came on board in the plot. The trio have good comic chemistry, thanks to Raffi's writing, which helped me giggle a lot. The story is somewhat predictable, with its comedy of errors crux, but if you watch it as a laidback late night movie, I'm certain Thaanara will make you laugh. The film elevates itself because of the actors and especially Chacko who delivers a few great retorts between dialogues. Overall, a great mindless watch.
