Yutaka, a solitary salaryman who prepares massive rice balls for his meals, has an encounter with brothers Tane and Minoru that leads to them bonding over the art of rice ball making.

Since the original plans to make curry were canceled because Tane suddenly got a fever, Yutaka nevertheless decides to go to the brothers' house to show he cares.

In order to make Tane's wish of going to the zoo and eating a boxed lunch come true, Yutaka seeks the help of a coworker to teach him how to make boxed lunches.

While at the supermarket getting groceries with Minoru and Tane, Yutaka runs into his brother, and Minoru realizes that things aren't all rosy with Yutaka.

When Minoru and Yutaka happen to meet each other in the supermarket, the two of them decide to make a special meal together to lift their low spirits.

Yutaka agrees to have a Christmas celebration with the two brothers, but on the day-of he gets a fever and is unable to make it.

After recovering from his illness, Yutaka and the two brothers have Christmas together. During the get-together, Yutaka talks about his childhood.

Minoru reveals that he actually met Yutaka a long time ago, leading to a slightly awkward situation between them.

With the New Year coming, Yutaka makes a trip back to his family home. Meanwhile, Minoru's dad seems to have realized that there's something happening between Minoru and Yutaka.

Yutaka tackles with uneasiness around Minoru, fearing their eventual separation. Meanwhile, Minoru's dad plans a special meal for Yutaka.

The Ueda family and Yutaka have come on a trip to celebrate Tane's birthday, but Minoru suddenly sees a message on Yutaka's phone in the dressing room and things start to get awkward between the two of them. They misunderstand each other's words and actions and interpret them negatively. Can they clear up the misunderstandings?
