It's weird returning to this little game, when you know what has come from it. It has a certain charm and clunkiness and ambition and stuff that never worked out. But even if it fault under it own ambition, it's still one of the best game of all time.
The gameplay is not really the smoothies, as in later games it almost becomes an action game in how flashed out it feels. But in the first one is more about being prepared then having good reflexes it's just a very different experience. It's an adventure game with ok combat.
It's slow, It's clunky, but It feels good in slow powerful combat sense, but it never really feels like a game where the entire point is combat. The reason combat works is because the developers are so good at finding scenarios and finding the boss moveset to be fun. There are a lot of boss that are not fun, but some of them are so memorable that they got repeated continually use into the later games.
But what really makes this Dark Souls game special is, the world is one big map, you can move from one end to the other end, and it makes sense in your head. The game world is so spaghetti like but it all makes sense and all the different secret corners that are not needed to complete the game but give it so much flavor.
The DLC is what brings it all together without it the game would have leg a real climax. Because the original four bosses in the later half are not that satisfying to beat, but the DLC brings it to a really satisfying conclusion difficulty rise and just cool fights.
I have played it so many times. It's practically my comfort game. If I want to just relax, I played this. It's second nature to me.
100 video essays have been made about this game, so let's just say it's good. It's one of the best games of all time and it's worth a play if you haven't played it yourself.
