Immediately I noticed the similarities between this film and the TAKEN Trilogy with Liam Neeson. Enjoyed the plot but loved the twist for this Lead Actress was fierce and up for the battle. Really didn't need too much rescuing and the Villain in this was enjoyable, sexy and fun to root for and against! Overall a good film that I highly recommend. The Director I guess was best known for Music Videos, that explains the vibrant colors that were kinda distracting. I would've love to have seen more angles on certain shots. It seemed like they didn't do lots of coverage but once again it was a good film and a couple of the actors stood out. Lead Actress and Lead Villain. Robin Givens and Glenn Plummer did well in the short time they were on screen.
Absolutely loved this movie. Was glued to my couch watching. Love the story line was great. Don't see a lot of movies addressing how young girls and women are kidnapped against their will. The main character definitely played the role. I liked that she had a fighting spirit and was set on getting herself back to her family. I also liked how she wanted to make sure her friend was good too. It's definitely a must see especially for young girls that are off on their own. It brought a realization to how mindful woman must be in their surroundings and to the people they meet. Everyone is not your friend.
What I personally loved about this story is the character arch for Shana. She went from very cautious, sheltered and a little tightly wound to finding her individuality and becoming her own person. Realizing she's at the age where she can trust herself to make her own decisions. She decides to have her first drink, go out and live a little before going off to/back to college. But that first drink becomes a traumatic moment. She's learning to trust her own instincts. She recognized the jogger in the club later on, showing her keen eye and level of awareness which she learned from dad in the movie's first seen. He's also taught her some fight moves because when it's time to face these men she gives them NO lead way . Full of fear but also brave. By the end she's killed to protect the ones she loves and even has a smart ass line at the end of her and Brooklyn's fight to prove it. The journey is insane but whatever runs in her dad's genes definitely saved her life. Ultimately we see good girl gone SURVIVOR! That's always fun to root for! Reminds me Damsel or The Princess. Loved it! TRINA LAFARGUE.
