I enjoy this interesting quiz show nice premise of them needing to qualify for their position fastest getting first and slowest getting last but it being the same three rounds then head to head and then final let's it down a bit. If the had a few different games they could mix it up thoughout the week which I think would make it more exciting also if the prize is not won they should consider adding to it between £250-£1000 pounds to add even more excitement. The hosts do the jobs the question master Roman kemp and facts and stats Sarah Greene not that overwhelming but do there jobs and make it a bit fun I hope it comes back but with a few changes .
Whoever devised this game show obviously was running out of ideas. No matter how hard the presenters try to make it interesting, it really isn't an entertaining show. The contestants have to answers questions before each round for "position on the grid" then answers question to get through to the next round. After the qualifying questions, Sarah Greene attempts at building excitement as she reveals each contestant times is cringe worthy. Hopefully Season 1 will also be the Final Season and it never see the light of day again. If there was any justice someone at the BBC would accidentally delete the entire series including any unairred ones.
Both Roman Kemp and Sarah Greene are thoroughly nice people but there is zero chemistry between them. No spark or wit or lighting fast ripostes. Roman has the ability to stand on his feet but not think on them.
His interaction with contestants is stilted and wooden as if he's forgotten what repartee is or even what to do with his hands without a clipboard. Puns peppered here and there help keep things light and airy but we are a long way off premium presenter territory.
As for the format it's as exciting as watching snails head towards lettuce. Sarah Greene has a rather teacherly role sat behind a desk explaining rules and desperately tries to inject excitement into the lane position. More tedium follows as each contestant has to appear up front again to hear the 'big exciting lane reveal!'.
You hope against hope there is a fully formed better version of this show that ex Blue Peter presenter Sarah 'made earlier'. But alas there never is.

The format is quite interesting to say the least and I particularly like the presentation of each of the three rounds before each race even though I am of the frank opinion that they are literally quite repetitive; and thus I get the feeling that the BBC kind of missed a trick here when it comes to shaking up the format a bit more throughout the game (sort of similar to the physical challenge representing the 4th round during Series 1 of Lightning).
While Roman Kemp and Sarah Greene are legit trying their best to do as decent a hosting job as they possibly could (and as much as Sarah Greene admittedly makes for an especially lovely bit of eye candy), it ultimately doesn't quite work as well as it had the potential to, largely due to the fact that the BBC are prepping them up to be the next Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman especially in terms of dynamic and chemistry.
In conclusion, while I do concede that The Finish Line has an interesting idea and concept behind it and as much as I can admit that Roman Kemp and Sarah Greene are absolutely trying their best with the uninspired material they've been given, the show ultimately feels too derivative of other, much superior quiz shows of its ilk to make itself stand out.
My overall rating for The Finish Line: 6/10.
