Grotesque 2 is a worthy sequel that is as funny as the original. The first Grotesque movie was an excellent Mildred Moyer origin story and the sequel builds on that character perfectly. Director Brandon Rhinnes brings back a lot of actors from the first movie in new roles which is great because the cast is excellent. Julie Whelan, who was a standout in the original shines again in the sequel. She is fantastic in these sort of roles, she's terrifying. She's scarier than Mildred Moyer. Whelan is really funny, as well, and her delivery left me in stitches more than once.
Elizabeth Chamberlain shines as Mildred again, of course. The running gag about Mildred's (slightly) new identity, and how she looks familiar is hilarious. The jokes are often corny but they land because Chamberlain is a great comedic actress, and I found myself laughing when I probably should have been groaning, even after multiple watches.
The supporting cast is great as well, with lots of familiar faces from the original, such as Jaime Hill, Tom Antoni, and many others. It took me a couple of watches to realize Jade Benoit, one of the evil camp counsellors in Grotesque 2, was one of the sarcastic homeless people in the original. She's great too. Everybody's really funny, they're almost a Canadian horror version of Broken Lizard.
The practical effects are very well done, as with the original movie the kills look good and they're fun. The movie is well lit, you can always see what is happening, and the sound levels are consistent throughout, so the movie avoids the usual pitfalls that often trip up low budget indie horror films.
Grotesque 2, as with the original, is my brand of horror comedy. Like Shaun of Dead, Tucker & Dale vs Evil, and Snatchers (2019), the emphasis here is really on the comedy and these silly, slightly goofy Grotesque movies are truly funny. This is a sequel that lives up to the original, like Godfather II and Empire Strikes Back. Fans of the original will definitely enjoy Grotesque 2. I eagerly await a third instalment to the franchise and if we don't get one I'm going to go full Mildred Moyer. Or worse, I'll go full Karen, Julie Whelan style.

I watched Grotesque a few years ago and enjoyed the story of Mildred Moyer. The way she got revenge on all of the people who wronged her was inspirational. I thought that was the end of her story and there was no way she could do more; boy was I wrong!
Mildred has grown as a human being. She has a whole new attitude and outlook on life but, whatever you do, don't make her mad! She can make you pay in creative and hilarious ways!
Grotesque 2 did an awesome job building on the original. Superb writing, directing and acting make it easy to cheer for everyone's favourite serial killer as she tries to build a new life.
It's a fun romp that will leave you wanting more!

This film is not intending to be great, everyone involved in the film knows what they're doing and hits the genre spot on.
They are not that many horror comedies out there and to be honest this one stands out as one of the best I've seen.
The plot is very simple and you can divide the movie into two halves for me the latter half was much more entertaining than the first.
For the first half of the movie we established certain characters, and I must stress that a lot of these characters have, well, character. In other words they're not just bland or generic, they actually have a personality, quirks, specific trades that make them different interestingly most of them are insufferable and that is a great thing because the second half of the movie the main character, the famous Mildred, spends every single second killing every single one of them in very creative and unique ways.
If you keep in mind that this movie is made for fun and doesn't take itself seriously, everything else will fall into place.
The kills in concept are fantastic, and though the special effects and make up sometimes is not super realistic, the ideas and the execution fit the genre very well and I must say I had fun watching Mildred dispatch every single horrible person that deserved their fate.
I am not the biggest fan of the music and the times it felt a little bit repetitive but they understand what a kill theme is and I understand why that particular theme was overused because, the main character kills, and she does so A LOT.
If you're looking for a serious or gory horror slasher then this is not the movie for you, but if you're looking for a specific type of comedy horror with levity and sincere fun then I feel you will enjoy this one.
This movie was probably not for me, but even then I found moments of enjoyment and you can see the people involved in making the movie had a lot of fun too.
