"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" - Daisy Ridley In "GQ"
"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" actress Daisy Ridley poses for the latest issue of  British "GQ" magazine:

Ridley trained in drama at the 'Tring Park School for the Performing Arts'. She began acting in minor guest roles on television and in short films, making her film debut in the independent horror film "Scrawl" (2015).

Ridley rose to international prominence for playing the lead role of 'Rey' in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy, starring in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015), "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (2017), and the upcoming "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" (2019).

She has also appeared in the mystery film "Murder on the Orient Express" (2017) and provided her voice to the animated film "Peter Rabbit" (2018).

"...'Rey' is a scavenger who was left behind on the planet 'Jakku' when she was a child, and later becomes involved with the 'Resistance' and their conflict with the 'First Order'...

‘Scrawl’ VOD Review
Stars: Mark Forester Evans, Daisy Ridley, Liam Hughes, Joe Daly, Annabelle Le Gresley, Nathalie Pownall, Elizabeth Boag, Chris Casey, Ellie Selwood, Morag Sims, Catherine Ruddick, Derek Jones, PennyJo Koviou, Alice May Ferngrove | Written and Directed by Peter Hearn

I’d say 99% of people viewing Scrawl are doing so because they heard it stars Daisy Ridley, who has since starred in couple of slightly more popular movies (Star Wars in case you’ve been living under a rock). I was one of those ninety nine percent.

The basic concept here is that a teenage boy discovers that stuff he writes and has drawn down in his comic book starts to actually happen in real life. Not a particularly original story but not a poor one either. Only Scrawl takes this idea and adds what feels like a million more ideas, blends them all together and then throws them about the place...

Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley Surprises Fans With Gory Low-Budget Horror Flick
For an actress who’s achieved global fame as Rey in the Star Wars sequels, Daisy Ridley probably has her pick of roles. It was a surprise, then, to see the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actress appear in a trailer for ultra low-budget British horror flick Scrawl.

The preview has Ridley appearing as a character seemingly brought to life from a violent comic book created by a pair of teenagers. Although not boasting slick visuals, Scrawl does appear to go heavy on the gore. Still, the presence of Ridley in the trailer has confused many Star Wars fans, who variously call it a “bad student movie” whilst wondering “Wtf happened?!'” for her to take the role. Was it a favour to a friend? A bet gone wrong? Or was it actually the career change Ridley was gunning for all along?

As it turns out, the reality is...

Scrawl Trailer: Daisy Ridley Fights a Killer Comic Book in Long-Lost Horror Movie
Daisy Ridley
Good news, everyone! Daisy Ridley is finally in a comic book movie! Kind of. A new trailer for Scrawl, a horror movie that was initially shot more than 4 years ago and hit the festival circuit in 2015, is finally getting released. It just so happens to star the aforementioned Ridley, who has since become a megastar thanks to her work in the Star Wars franchise, and it's about a killer comic book.

A little background. This movie was shot by director Peter Hearn some time ago and even played at several festivals, such as Fright Night Film Festival and Zed Fest Film Festival back in 2015. It has screened precisely nowhere since 2016 and has since been lost to time. There is also an argument to be made that this is actually the debut movie of Daisy Ridley. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was her first movie to actually be released, but she did,...

Daisy Ridley in New Trailer for Long Lost Fantasy Horror Film 'Scrawl'
"Do you like what you've done?" "No." Way back when, before anyone knew who Rey was and before The Force Awakens opened, British actress Daisy Ridley starred in a little indie horror project titled Scrawl, from filmmaker Peter Hearn. The film played at a few small festivals in 2015, but has never been officially released - until now. If anyone still cares. Scrawl is a fantasy horror about a boy who writes a comic book with his best friend, only to discover that what they show starts to really happen. Along with the appearance of a mysterious girl, he is forced to face the reality of what he has written, and begins a battle to attempt to rewrite death. Starring Daisy Ridley, along with Mark Forester Evans, Liam Hughes, Chris Casey, Nathalie Pownall, Elizabeth Boag, Annabelle Le Gresley, Joe Daly, Ellie Selwood, and Derek Jones as "The Caretaker". Not really sure...

Human Switchboard’s Punk Rock Classic ‘Who’s Landing in My Hangar’
Formed in Kent, Ohio during the late Seventies, Human Switchboard was one of a slew of bands who sprung up throughout the benighted American heartland in the wake of punk-rock’s initial explosion in New York and London — from the Gizmos in Indiana to the Embarrassment in Kansas to the Suicide Commandoes in Minnesota and on and on. And while they only released one full-length LP, 1981’s Who’s Landing In My Hangar, it remains an absolute classic — as this sweet vinyl reissue from Fat Possum attests. The band’s...

Indie Spotlight: From Scrawl to Screen, Interview with Director Peter Hearn
Currently making the festival rounds, writer/director Peter Hearn’s Scrawl is a fascinating, micro-budget journey into the (dangerous) minds of a group of teenagers in England, including a pre-Star Wars: The Force Awakens Daisy Ridley. Daily Dead recently caught up with Peter for a chat about the film and the inspirational story behind its making.

Thanks for taking the time to talk to Daily Dead, Peter. As Scrawl is just starting to make its way around the festival circuit, could you give our readers an idea of what it’s about?

Peter Hearn: Gosh, where do I start? If I were to pitch it I would describe it as Big meets A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors by way of Phantasm and The Evil Dead. The story revolves around a boy who writes a comic book with his best friend, before finding situations depicted...

New Details and Preview of Scrawl, Featuring Star Wars Episode VII’s Daisy Ridley
When British actress Daisy Ridley was announced as being part of Star Wars Episode VII, many moviegoers responded with a resounding, “Who?!” As one of the principal members of the cast, she will likely have a major role in the J.J. Abrams helmed movie, but is very much an unknown compared to the rest.

She does have some impressive television credits though, and will next be seen in British independent horror movie, Scrawl. Written and directed by Peter Hearn, the movie will be featured at the Andover Arts Festival in June before being submitted to film festivals during 2014/15.

Written and directed by Peter Hearn, Scrawl was shot over a three week period in the South of England in 2013 as well as extra days throughout 2014. It also stars Mark Forester-Evans (The Cave), Elizabeth Boag (Metro 7 bis/Chasing Robert Barker) and Nathalie Pownall (White Box/Twin Suns).

The synopsis below is extremely interesting,...

Who Is 'Star Wars 7' Cast Member Daisy Ridley? Watch Short Film 'Blue Season'
After months of waiting and frenzied rumor-baiting, during which every living actor (and a number of people who do not fall into that category) was briefly said to be in, or maybe in, or in talks to be in, or auditioning to be in, J.J. Abrams' “Star Wars VII,” we finally learned yesterday who was actually in it: and the announced cast (aside from those returning from the original series) ranges from cinema legends like Max von Sydow to near-total newcomers like Daisy Ridley.Who's that, you ask? Well, you've come to the right place. Undoubtedly the least well-known of the new cast, even in her native Britain, Ridley seems to have beaten stars like Lupita Nyong'o for her role, but has yet to appear in a released movie, though she has two in the pipeline: a role in comedy sequel “The Inbetweeners 2” and a part in the low-budget...

Some thoughts on the Star Wars: Episode VII casting
Feature Andrew Blair 30 Apr 2014 - 06:07

We take a look at the announced cast for Jj Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII, at who's not there, and what it all means...

So the Jedi have returned again, as is their wont (they basically do it in every film), and this time they've brought some younglings with them. The cast of Star Wars: Episode VII - well, most of it - has been announced.

Accompanying Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker will be John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow. Oh, and John Williams is doing the music again, because Star Wars wouldn't be Star Wars without John Williams.

The New Faces

Of the new names, we have Ming the Merciless himself - von Sydow - and Andy Serkis. They're experienced pros and bring with them reputations for,...

Veteran Bergman Star, Coen Bros' Cast Members to Star in Sw: Episode VII
‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ cast announced (photo: ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ cast member Max von Sydow in ‘Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close’) Star Wars: Episode VII cast members have been announced. The world had been waiting with bated breath. Who will The Force be with? Well, not with humankind and its fellow Earth dwellers (apart from cockroaches and various types of worms) — if news reports about the eventual fate of the planet are accurate. But don’t despair. The End credits for Planet Earth should come after Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Studios (instead of former Star Wars film distributor 20th Century Fox) amass a few more billion dollars following the release of a whole array of new Star Wars sequels in the coming years. So, the announced (mostly European) Star Wars: Episode VII cast members are, to date, the following: Oscar Isaac (Sucker Punch, widely praised for his performance in Joel...

Who Is Daisy Ridley? Meet the New 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Actress (Photo)
Who is Daisy Ridley, aside from being the only other woman currently listed as a cast member on "Star Wars: Episode VII"?

Carrie Fisher is returning to reprise her role as Princess Leia, which makes Ridley the only female newcomer so far. Whether or not she snagged the part of Ben Kenobi's bad-ass Jedi descendant isn't clear, but so far that's the only female character we've heard about. That's the role that also-unknown Maisie Richardson-Sellers was in the running for, but she didn't make the final list of cast members.

Ridley only started acting last year, beginning with guest roles on British TV shows like "Youngers" and "Mr Selfridge." There's so little information on the newcomer that we've been forced to dig up her agent's website to get some details. So far, there's not a lot. She's set to appear in the sequel to "The Inbetweeners," a movie based on the Channel 4 sitcom.
