I enjoy this show best of all the many crime shows I watch. It's difficult to understand why they have had a couple of very poor reviews, but as I read those reviews I can see that the reviewers seemed upset by the strength and confidence of our female investigators. Maybe they have some problems with strong women - who knows? I know that I watch each show from start to finish with interest and enjoyment. It's great to see that not only the lady investigators but the local police and DA's who are so interested in pursuing justice for the victims and family members. I'm glad they don't drag us through every detail of their investigations but go over the highlights in a rational and illuminating manner.
It is different in that you see the process of how they go about trying to solve cold cases. Most of the evidence is already known at the beginning of the show...because it is a cold case. I like when they go out to the crime scene and do their recreations. I guess I am intrigued by their thought processes. Of course, being from Harris County, where Kelly was a prosecutor, I know about her and Johnny Bonds. Kelly was a quick fire prosecutor and quite successful, so I like watching her in action. I do also like that they will at the beginning give an update on previous cases covered. If you're tired of the usual crime show, I think you will like this one. I hope TNT keeps the show.
This show has legs and Kelly Sigler is a formidable talent when it comes to putting the pieces of these unsolved homicides into a coherent and compelling narrative. As the brother of a homicide victim I would have given my soul to have had this team of detectives involved in the investigation of the murder of my brother. There are cops who are "detectives " by nature and there are cops who simply wear the badge and despite their good intentions they simply do not have the analytical skills necessary to make a case. This team of detectives follows the dictum that if it quacks like a duck .. it's a duck! No liberal pandering around issues that today might raise a few eyebrows. Great detectives, fantastic show . Keep up the great work!
+ Kelly Siegler & Yolanda McClary are exemplary women without any pretentious over dramatization as they take on their roles as hosts and investigators. They work well as hosts compared to many other crime programs. The fact that they are not always able to catch the perpetrator and being honest about it, plus showing the impact on the families, is a refreshingly real take on American crime shows. The systematic take on how evidence is gathered and reviewed, interviews are taken and suspects eliminated is very interesting for anyone that loves these types of crime series. Everything is very methodical and clearly put into view. - When handling real cases, showing real victims and suspects we as an audience will never know what is steered by editing and if that is morally acceptable to put on as a show which is in itself firstly for entertainment value.
W/o Dick Wolfe/TNT, and the ladies of "Cold Justice," all these aired cold cases would've never had any progression or motivation to solve. All would've fallen through the cracks. Suspects never caught and tried. Families would've never had answers for closure. The aired cases prove more into fowl play than missing/runaways. This show proves the majority of people don't run away. As adults, police tend to only have that answer when evidence becomes overlooked. "Cold Justice" transfers old cases extremely well to TV. Some crime do-cu-drama's can tend to be slow. Especially, when there's a lot of dialogue. Dick Wolfe has a way of making viewers tune-in without expecting filmed re-enactment's. Even cases that are w/o a crime-scene, body, or living suspect. I've been hooked since the 1st episode. I hope "Cold Justice" will make it to the 10 year mark!
