The setting for this movie was perfect for a slasher, halloween and amusement park.
It actually had a solid plausible backstory, and I wouldn't say there was plot holes. Pretty good kills and great actors. I mainly watched after finding out Omar was in it, but the other actors were great and very convincing. Slashers are generally my favourite horror movies and this one was solid.
It had everything you could have wanted but the suspense could have been built up a little more, and maybe some good jump scares. But, overall really good. My new favourite slasher horror movie.
I highly recommend and don't think it deserves the low ratings that it has at all.

I genuinely loved this film. Discovering "Karusell" has been one of the highlights of my year so far. In Taiwan, the film title was aptly translated "Halloween" (with the last syllable cleverly playing on the word for 'catastrophe' in Mandarin, which is quite intriguing). It's the best horror film I've seen this year. There are no Visual effects, no CGI, and none of those cheap jump scares where some devil suddenly pops on the screen. Instead, it showcases superb makeup artistry!
The film's atmosphere is gripping, with the compelling storyboards keeping me on edge, as well as the escalating music (reminding me of "Resident Evil").
The plot, while not complex, was yet rational. "Empathy" in this movie contributes a layer of the gravity of bullying in schools. It diverges from meaningless killing as in "Final Destination" or the "Scream" series. I don't understand why local Swedish audiences rated this masterpiece so low.
I eagerly hope the filmmakers will make the sequel.

"Karusell" takes on a genre in the Swedish film industry thats risen the last decade. Its a genre that's growing in Sweden and that hasent had many tries before.
This film actually succeeds with being scary and bringing a twisted story. Just as the Netflix film Konferansen (2023).
Its a pretty good story, with a driven and realistic manuscript. It manages to mix the feeling of being trapped and loosing controll, while being followed in a small area by a haunting killer.
The actors is pretty average according to me. They aren't super good, but they arent bad either.
I really recommend it!! A good horrorfilm!

A typical fall slasher, designed to exploit the usual demand for horror movies at Halloween. The film was directed by a little-known Swedish filmmaker and the unusual setting was the Liseberg amusement park in Gothenburg, one of the largest in Europe. With no big mystery or gore and a somewhat misguided ending, it's a dull, formulaic and predictable slasher that will unfortunately leave the audience yawning more than creeped out. Not even the deaths caused by the "doll-faced' killer are something, because they're all disappointing and somehow lacking any spectacularity. Also, the young cast turned out to be a failure, especially since they don't have much material to work with either. To sum up, a mediocre slasher in a fantastic setting and nothing else.

- BlooperAt the end of the sequence on the Valkyria roller coaster, the character Sebbe has been killed with an ax lodged in his chest, but when the group gets off the car, the handle of the ax gets in the way of the safety bar and it can be seen detaching from Sebbe's body. Later, when the rest of the kids horrified observe the corpse, the ax is again embedded in his chest.
