My wife and I watched this movie at home, we found it on Amazon streaming movies. It is faith-based, as such some viewers will either avoid it or criticize it for that but we found it to be a very worthwhile and pleasant movie with good messages about family and friends.
Very young actress Rachel Eggleston plays Hallie, just starting the 2nd grade. Her mother was a teacher and, while we don't learn much about her, she apparently died over some weeks or months because she was able to write letters to individual family members to be discovered after her death.
Dad is a working man, a dentist, who tries to juggle everything, including laundry and food preparation but he isn't very good at it. Young Hallie seems wise beyond her years, at the same time unwise about the ways of the world, so when her new friend at school has a dental problem that Hallie finds out will cost $92 she sets about raising the money. Some of her methods, like having a yard sale for all the "junk" in the garage, cause new problems. But Hallie always is operating from a good heart and the desire to help others.
The production values and the acting in general aren't up to the standard of big budget movies, but overall it is a satisfying movie and young Eggleston is really a fine young actress, very believable in all her scenes.

I found this movie on Amazon Prime. The acting was good, and Rachel Eggleston's performance was exceptional. It showed the struggles of being a family after losing a wonderful mother, and that healing comes from faith in God. I appreciate that they worked through things by relying on God and each other, rather than bringing in a new "mom".
I felt like the ending was very much rushed and it left me with unanswered questions. I would have liked to have seen their family life as they worked through their issues.
All in all, though, it was a great movie and I am very glad that I saw it.

This is a film about life and death-and also about love and kindness. Some might see it as a Christian movie. I'm not a Christian myself, but I still found it deeply moving. To me, what it conveys goes beyond religion; it speaks to universal values: love, compassion, and a gentle reminder of what truly matters in life.
At the same time, it's a beautiful family film-gentle, sincere, and quietly uplifting. There's no violence, no coarse language, no suggestive content-just clean, heartfelt storytelling. Both the dialogue and visuals are refreshingly pure, making it a film you can comfortably share with children around the same age as the girl who leads the story.
The closing stages of the film feel a bit rushed. Another shortcoming is the character of the older brother, who feels somewhat underdeveloped.

Summer Snow was truly an incredible film. You know how many of the non mainstream films look like second rate films with poor acting and videography; well not Summer Snow. It is one of the most well written films I have seen this year. The music was equally amazing. The cast was perfect. Everything about the film was absolutely incredible. I have seen some Hollywood productions that wasn't as great as this film. This film literally wowed me. I laughed and cried. I Felt as though I was part of that little family; completely taken in by the story of their lives.
Most of all however I was inspired. I loved the message of how we are to change when God changes us through salvation; even the smallest or most unlikeliest individual can make a world of difference in someone's life.
Kudos to American Family Studios and it's writers/directors Jeremy White and Kendra White for such an exceptional and inspirational film.

....but have a box of tissues nearby! I was very impressed with the writing of this story and the great acting. You really could experience the emotions with the characters. It's nice to see a story where a new wife doesn't show up to save the widower and the kids. Instead, they learned to lean on their faith.
