This is a good series. I wanted most of episodes 1 -12 diligently then skipped to episode 18 or 19 and even then began following the plot but skipping along. Instead of providing high analysis I will just say, I wish the main characters embraced at the very end. To be correct I would have given it an 8.9 out of 10. Will definitely find other Korean movies to watch in future. Did not have the heart or time to thoroughly watch episodes 13-17 as it was more of the back and forth plotting and endangerment stuff. Definitely opened my eyes to some of Korean culture and historical drama. There are no outright make-out scenes, but some of the replay views of the past help to continually reinforce the bond the main characters have built up. I also wish more US/Western or UK stories were told from this perspective- not exclusively first person, always sticking the audience hearing in first person what the main character or characters are feeling.

Excellent cast of role for Lee Min Ho as a desilusioned captain surviving out of duty only and for Kim Hee Sun as modern day surgeon who loves life - and how both characters change in time , driven by trust/ faith, duty and love. Very good roles also for Gongmin king and his queen - there is a historic truth in the script. Take your time and enjoy - love to music / lyrics too..

Loved Choi young and Eun ho....the love shown and the acting par excellence done by lee min ho and the actress was a treat to the eyes...a little dragged in some episodes but loved watching every bit of it the love intensity emotions shown are soooo heart warming between the leads and silent yet intense love../the way they have shown how they have become each other's weakness and leee min ho I can keep going on and on...the side characters did their part well too...the costumes the back ground score to top it all with less dialogues lee min h's expressions could speak his anger, love, concern everything....

The characters, the dialogues and some situations are brilliant. And the main couple is one of my most favourites af all times. Their moments together are heart melting even if they just kiss once. And the OST is beatiful. Maybe it has some plot flaws and repetitive situations but the story in general is very interesting mixing historical characters and events with a bit of fantasy. There is also a great time paradox. Worth watching more than once because at second view you catch more details (specially when you have to read subtitles that pass fast)
