Wow O Wow! What a great movie! I laughed so hard, I cried--and that was only the beginning first five minutes.Who The writing of this movie is incredible, the acting fabulous, and the comedy outstanding. I loved every creative moment. This takes the place of my first place movie, replacing "While you were sleeping" with Sandra Bullock. One of those movies that makes you think the rest of the afternoon and puts a smile on your face. I will definitely be purchasing for my DVD library in the future and several for friends birthdays. Highly recommended for a good "date" night movie or single females getting together for a "laugh" night.
This movie is now 12 years old, and it still remains relevant and funny.
Christina Marie Karis is refreshing. She and Jefferson Moore have an awesome chemistry as unwilling travel companions who are simply trying to get from point A to point B. Nothing could be more complicated, actually!
We know that the movie is going to go in a silly direction, since there's a clear humor about Lincoln (J. Moore) and his intense disdain for socializing. Alza (Karis) is brightly clueless - she has so much intelligence, but lacks self-awareness, at least for the first portion of the movie.
We see her go through a lot of disappointments, including dealing with a rat in a random motel room (hi, #1 fear). She also has a knack for seeming self-confident, but soon shows her vulnerable side.
I loved the weaving of humor (deadpan Lincoln staring at Alza while she over-talks) with the litany of everyday hiccups that - all happening at once - could make the most stoic among us turn into ugly-crying messes.
My favorite laugh-out-loud scene is when Alza spots the burglars and sneaks away from Lincoln's truck. Her 'duck walk' in high heels was so random and hysterical. Naturally, the joke is on us, because even in that awkward position, she still looks fantastic.
If you're looking for something to cheer you up, especially when you're feeling that old self-pity monster creeping up, this movie does an excellent job of resetting your mind. It helped remind me that things can always be worse, and even the most trying situation can work a miracle in our life.
I hope that Mr. Moore and his wife will continue to make more movies, or simply do what God moves them to do, for as long as possible. Our world is in crisis and longs for hope.

I was honored to have some songs used for this film. I had no idea how my music would be used, and/or how it would fit into the scheme of the movie...well, I was very impressed! The characters are earthy and layered, the scenery and cinematography are top-notch, and of the wonderfully restored Chevrolet pickup was a treat to see. Kristina Karis is immediately endearing, and I think she has a great future ahead of her. It was refreshing to see a movie that breaks many stereotypes, while at the same time lets us enjoy so many others! This is the kind of movie that "stays with you" and your appreciation for the film will actually grow for days after you first see it...and you WILL want to watch it more than once! Thanks, Kelly Filmworks!
PIECES of EASTER is a heartwarming, family-friendly film produced by Kelly's Filmworks. This movie is so appropriate to have been released around the Easter season. Jefferson Moore (The Perfect Gift, Another Perfect Stranger) shifts from his portrayal of Jesus to become Lincoln, a rugged "hermit" (as characterized by Alza Reese, played by newcomer Christina Karis).
When Alza's car breaks down in a VERY small backwoods town, she reluctantly hires Lincoln to drive her to her family's Easter reunion some three days away. The interactions and situations which follow are hilarious, thought-provoking and uplifting. Christina Karis is fantastic in her debut film and Jefferson Moore, always a solid lead actor, capitalizes on his resemblance this time to---sorry, you'll just have to watch the film. I enjoyed PIECES of EASTER and I know you will too!

My mom suggested that we watch this together. I found it to be surprisingly funny but not cheesy, and it had a great message!
