Plot
Film student Brandon and four friends play with a Ouija board, unwittingly opening a portal to the spirit world and a drowned girl's deadly mystery.
Cast
Unfamiliar with anyone involved.
Verdict
Oh dear, where exactly do you start with a film of this caliber?
To be clear yes the concept is friends use a ouija board, and before you can say "This is a stupid idea" weird things are happening and they're being picked off by an unseen force. The force unseen of course because they don't actually have the budget to show anything.
Full of unlikable obnoxious characters, a non-existent plot and a runtime featuring pretty much nothing happening this is an abyssal movie.
Rants
Would I use a ouija board? No, it's a childrens game.
Would I be worried about the supernatural risks? No, I'm an adult with a fully functioning brain.
There's no such thing as ghosts, nor demons nor anything else going bump in the night. Engage with reality!
Breakdown
Seen it all before Dreadful characters Nothing happens.

This is a new release on Netflix as of this writing.
At the very beginning of the movie it states "the film you are about to see is based on true events". If you do not know what that means for a feature movie, please look it up.
I gave this movie a low rating due to: -Atrocious acting from all main characters -No complexity or depth for any characters for you to build any connection or sympathy for them -Run of the mill horror film scare tactics, nothing new here
The only things I liked about the movie were a couple of comedic internet meme references and a "revelation" scene towards the end that was shot with back story characters. The actors in this scene performed much better than the main character actors and it was as if it was filmed by a different director and crew. Too bad that only lasted a few minutes of the movie instead of its duration.
I do not recommend adding to your watch list.

It's Friday night and I was up late and just happened to see this was available to watch on Netflix, unlucky me. Another found footage nightmare.I have watched lot of low budget horror but this one takes the cake. This movie has the worst acting I have ever seen, and the story takes forever to get scary. They spent so much time arguing and bickering about one guys cheating that the whole story loses focus . If you are looking for low budget horror fun keep looking this is it not it. I didn't get scared or jump once. You have been warned. Watch if you want to take a nap. You may get a few laughs out of the YouTube references and the character Lynette was the only one who was funny or at all interesting. I don't know what else I can say about this movie, except they made a part two and I won't be watching that. I've had it with found footage.

"The Ouija Experiment" is one of the worst horror movies ever released on DVD. The film is amateurish with awful and low quality camera work using handycam and boring. The screenplay is ridiculous, with a stupid story. The characters are laughable: one shallow young woman that shags her boyfriend that is a wolf and gives a Rolex to him; the wolf himself that only wants to shag women all the time; his sister, maybe the most reasonable character; his friend that wants to play with a Ouija board with the three previous mentioned imbecile characters; and the student of cinema that wants to film the group to increase his Blog traffic. The direction and performances are amateurish. If the viewer rent this DVD and watch until the end, the result will be waste of time and money. My vote is two.
Title (Brazil): "Ouija: Onde Tudo Começou" ("Ouija: Where Everything Has Begun")

Intolerable death-by-boredom that plays as well as a 1990s home video of your friends playing D&D in your basement, except you could actually stand listening to _your_ friends.
This is just one of those things that somehow gets on video because someone dug up enough money to pay for that. And it turns up on video or Netflix at just the right time to try and trick you into seeing it by having a title with one of the same words as the title of something that recently went to theaters (Ouija). That trick worked back in the days of VHS rentals my friend, but these days, we can hate you without losing $3 and move on.

I don't usually leave bad reviews because I actually like bad horror movies.
The first half is decent. I had nothing better to do this day in quarantine, so it held my attention.
I fell asleep after that though, because the second half has the same few jump scares happening over and over.
So I missed the ending due to sleep. But I'm fairly certain I'm not missing anything.

This movie is terrible. Please do not try to watch it even if you find it for free. Trust me, it's not worthy of your time. There's no such thing as a story, the acting is terrible and the directing couldn't probably be any worse than it is now.
Basically, this movie has no production value whatsoever. It's shot inside two apartments with a dslr or a cheap camcorder (maybe even iphone) and the visual quality is lower than a youtube production.
I wouldn't be surprised that much if I watched this on youtube but I can't understand how netflix said yes to this nonsense?
You could grab your Galaxy S6 or Iphone 6 plus and shoot a much better movie than this one, I guarantee you. Stay a million miles away.

This isn't just the worst movie ever produced by people this is the worst thing ever recorded in human history. Found film shaky cam no script acting or direction. Quite literally, there is no script or directions AT ALL. A red light camera has more artistic content. Russian dashcam video is more polished. Vines of getting hit in the nads is better. YouTube ghetto rat fist fights in the parking lot of Popeye's Chicken is better. If you gave a cell phone to any random 15 year old and told them to record whatever they wanted, come back tomorrow thanks, you'd get this. It's not enough that found film shakeycam should be beaten to death and set on fire
No. Something like this comes along and makes you hope for a meteor to hit the earth and kill us all.

Actually got scared, not because it was scary but i always get scared when is first person camera, the plot was interesting kinda funny tho but the acting was kinda bad i have to say. I just wanted a cheap scary movie and that's what i got, nothing more nothing less.

Before watching this movie, I looked up the IMDb rating. I knew it was low, but I've seen movies with low ratings before and they were still fun to watch. So I thought, I should give this movie a go, even though it was bad.
Worst decision of my life.
This movie is the definition of boredom. Nothing happens, literally nothing happens. The only action I enjoyed watching, were the credits rolling at the end of this 'movie'. This movie rates a 10 on horror if it comes to acting. I didn't even know people were capable of acting in such a way, that my eyes hurt just watching it. But apparently they can. I would start about the bad plot, but there isn't one to begin with, so there's is no point going there.
I would say this movie is just plain rubbish, but rubbish, in some way, has value. This movie doesn't.
On the other hand, I'm very happy that I watched this movie. I can enjoy the little things in life now. For example, I can enjoy waiting for 40 minutes on the bus, watching the grass in my garden grow and waiting for my driver-license at the DMV since they don't bore me as much anymore, since I watched this movie.
So if you're easily bored, go watch this movie! You'll enjoy life afterwards, otherwise, stay away.

A group of friends experiment with a Ouija board while attempting to record their findings on film. Soon strange things begin to occur until they get more than what they bargained for.
The good in this movie was definitely the plot which was not great but had more potential. It is stated in the beginning that story is inspired on true events. The scare factor was there so that is a plus.
The bad was the acting. Said it before and Ill say it again. Cant expect top notch acting on low budget films but I've seen worse in studio production. In the end I would put this film on my low budget B-horror film list.

'The Ouija Experiment' drew me into seeing it, with a cool poster/cover, an intriguing if not particularly original premise and as someone with a general appreciation for horror. That it was low-budget, which from frequent personal experience is rarely a good sign due to that there are so many poor ones out there, made me though apprehensive as well as the low rating and poor reviews.
It is sadly however yet another film seen recently, hence some reiteration because the exact same strengths and flaws those films have are present here, that to me was incredibly disappointing considering its potential which it doesn't do anywhere near enough with. 'The Ouija Experiment' is terrible, with a plethora of problems (huge ones too) and doesn't do enough with its potential, which was hardly small. There is really nothing to recommend.
'The Ouija Experiment' does have a few nice references that people will have no problem getting. That is the only enjoyment value one gets.
Unfortunately, it's shot and edited so poorly, looking like a school project shot on a shaky camera or a phone by an unsteady hand, and the drab colour palette. It was very clear that the film was made in a rush with no care or enthusiasm. In particular, the camera work was a nauseous assault on the eyes with its excessive amateurish-ness.
Going on further to the negatives, the story does feel paper thin, disjointed and over-stretched and some of it feels vague, under-explained in the last third where the film especially became duller, more predictable, more senseless and less scary. Too many characters are too sketchy and with nowhere near enough to make one want to endear to them. Their annoying and illogical decision making and behaviours frustrates and are overdone.
Making the film feel bland and forgettable with not enough heart put into it. The effects are ropy at best, the sound quality is obvious and utilised cheaply (being too loud in the build ups and people's reactions) and it's best not mentioning the uniformly lumbering and histrionic acting that shows a huge indifference to the situation and what is going on and extremely awkward prolonged pauses.
Dialogue can be stilted and rambling, with lots of clichés, lots of unintentional humour that makes some of the film play like a really bad spoof and no depth whatsoever, while the pace goes to a standstill very quickly and drags on forever with very little going on worth caring about and useless padding, never recovering. Found too many the supposedly shocking moments not surprising or scary and the supposedly creepy atmosphere dreary, due to the excessive obviousness, a lot of dumb and vague moments and explanations and the lack of tension and suspense. Would not have minded the lack of originality (the film is extremely derivative and in a dumbed and watered down way) if the story and atmosphere were at least alright in execution, in reality they were both incredibly poorly done.
A lot of 'The Ouija Experiment' has underdeveloped plot elements and often nonsensical and confusing character motivations, while too many of the things to make you jump or shocked are far from creative or scary and are pretty tame. The ending makes the film finish on an incomplete and confused whimper and the film often fails to make sense, at worst it's incomprehensible.
There is not enough threat, and what there is of it tends to be used poorly, it is completely unimaginative and more odd than creepy, completely failing to show any sense of horror or creativity. Everything here is neither creative, suspenseful or nail-biting. Some badly sagging momentum too. The direction is leaden and like their heart was not in it or ill at ease, with the chemistry between the characters and actors coming over as constantly random and aggressive with the subtlety of an axe. This is very dreary and amateurish stuff that fails to be scary, interesting or easy to follow.
In conclusion, very poor. 2/10 Bethany Cox

When I started the movie I didn't expect a lot of it. But after seeing the first 10 minutes I couldn't be more wright. Some may say it is a "B" movie, I think it can't be in a alphabetical category. How could they rape the horror genre so hard and still getting on Netflix. Maybe it was the acting? No, it was horrible, horrible. Are those actors randomly picked on the street. I laughed a couple of times when the acting was so poor i just couldn't keep it. I think that was the only thing that was positive about this movie. Men o men o men, I've seen bad movies, but this one is taking the cake. I'm wasting my time by writing the review, but I just want to warn people. DON'T. WATCH. THIS. MOVIE. Even if you can live 1000 years and you have more then 750 million hours to do everything you want. Even then, even then I wouldn't recommend this to you in a life time.

I saw this via Netflix, on the off-chance it could be good for a few cheap thrills. I'm now wondering why people do this, and whether the whole thing is some sort of satire of the paranormal and of horror films in general, as even with Herculean suspension of disbelief, the film barely rises above the level of disappointing.
The plot is simple (as in 'simpleton'), the script exceeds the acting in terms of amateurish mediocrity, the atmosphere is cartoonish, and the effects are on a par with something out of high school extracurricular drama classes. I didn't check this production's budget, but 'shoestring' comes to mind.
I've given this 2 stars instead of 1, because it's not unimaginable that some people could derive pleasure from the occasional fright that announces itself several minutes in advance. Other than that, I'd call this a complete waste of time.

hello, greetings from Colombia.
This movie is very low budget ..
the point was not distributed and I could see on you tube .
Truth is an interesting film and good actors .
I'm tired of scary movies made with high budget hiring untalented curvy girls .
See that :P :P
It has a good script , camera handling , lighting and sound .
And an ending that is not predictable.
A proposal for independent film , low budget and well told.
__________ Would not see him so sick horror movie actors unknown actor whose only merit is the size of their tits?

"The Ouija experiment" A recent found footage indie film that caught my eye due to everyone's favorite spirit contracting element, the Ouija board. But will it be enough to set a good movie here? First off the plot / idea of the film, and where it goes. To be honest, we've all seen this before, the widely spread cliché of a group of friends coming together, messing around with the paranormal entities known as ghosts, then having to battle it off. In this movie however, the simple cliché is carried out not only through the story, but the characters as well. You have the tough guy, the smart guy that thinks he knows everything, the clueless girl, and the other bad "know it all" girl. Overall, the execution of said clichés in this film was quite poor, offering little, to no character development, and tasteless attempts.
Next, of course, you have your cinematography, and film work. Of course, considering this being a found footage, you'll have your "eh, eh's" for people, depending who the audience members are. In this case, the movie actually dose a solid job on the found footage technique here executing little to no shakiness, pleasing the audience with a small amount of disorientation. The lighten and sound is what it is, once again executing a solid performance with small elements to complain, and or hate about. So in conclusion, this fraction of the film was executed smoothly, pleasing the audience overall.
Finally the acting of the film, one word. NO! This film had a streak until this dropped the bomb! The acting was not good. It's as if these actors were students, still in the works of official acting! The actors, or in this case, characters overall overacted! They delivered they're lines in an unordered - like fashion that threw the audience off! On the other hand, not all the characters executed they're lines badly, but for the most part, half of them had they're part of which they did! And most of said overacting was visible, as said before, throwing us audience off, delivering a dropped bomb. Smashing the film.
In conclusion, this film was O-kay. It had parts of which threw us audience off, but for the most part it was a solid horror film that delivered. There were some parts of the film that showed off the low budget of the film, including sound, CGI, etc. the scares were plain, the story carried out and thought it was more then it could of been. In conclusion, this was a solid indie horror film, it was what it was. I'd recommend it toward paranormal fans, but keep this in mind, it's nothing THAT new, it's as if this movie is recycled.

I normally hate films where someone has any type of camera and carries it around making the screen bounce giving you a headache, but I really liked this movie. The story line is actually very good it's almost two stories in one if you think about it because you have the current story and the past story rolled into one cause and effect. I think what really would have made this movie better though is if you did not have any of those scenes where someone is "recording" with their own camera. I am glad I made it past those scenes though because the movie turned out to be quite enjoyable. It makes you really think twice about ever playing with those boards again. This movie teaches a lesson on why you should always close your session.

For starters I liked this storyline better than Ouija which actually made it to theaters I assume because of having a bigger budget. The main problem with the film like most low budget horror films was the cast. Some major over-acting going on here but that aside it actually had its' scary moments and I even screamed twice. I am a horror movie fanatic and supernatural films don't usually get me but some genuine good scares happened if you ask me.
This is definitely one of those films that craved a bigger budget for a better cast and better filming but I still firmly say they worked with what they had cause it was pretty decent, much better than I expected and I liked the twist they threw in at the end. All and all fairly impressive. The potential of this film was not lost on me.
