Rule Breakers is a true story told in a very engaging and heartfelt manner. The story focuses on a group of Afghani women and girls (and their families) as they challenge the attitudes, traditions, and culture that surround them by learning to write code, make robots, and compete as a team in prestigious, international competitions. The film does an excellent job of developing the characters of the team members and the woman, Roya Mahboob, who was visionary behind the team. While are some suspenseful moments, as you might expect with a bunch of rule breakers, the film chooses not to dwell on these incidents. Rather, it deftly focuses on how the team defied expectations, overcame serious technical challenges, managed needless bureaucratic delays, won over the international media, and won hearts and minds among their competition. In addition to presenting an engaging story with top-notch production values, the performances from the entire cast are superb. I was deeply moved by this film and am already look forward to seeing it again!
I had not heard a single thing about this movie but saw it was playing. I watched the trailer and it looked pretty good. I never expected it to be as amazing as it was! This story deserved to be told, and it connects people to Afghanistan in a totally different way than most are used to. I feel it's a must see, for the whole family. My heart hurts for the way they have lived for so long, even worse since 2021. Those children, women, people, deserve so much better! We can always be blessed that great minds can connect the entire world in a way that most people can never connect too. Thanks for making this movie, ill be suggesting it to everyone I talk too!

A good movie about an inspiring true story. The oppression, challenges and attacks from the Taliban that were endured and overcome by this Afghanistan girls robotics team is inspiring. This brought to life the difficult reality of life in counties like Afghanistan which we see in only snippets on the news. It's amazing that in this day and age women continue to be marginalized by cowardice sects. The fact that they received the major award so recently in 2021 while still being oppressed makes this movie timely. Very good acting and overall production. This is another Angel Studios movie amplifying light in the world!

The RULE BREAKERS movie was so good, so real, made me cry with joy! The passion of international competition is evident / the perils of woman in AFGHANISTAN is real, the acting is fabulous, the true story makes you realize we are so blessed to live in America. You need to see this movie. To understand the struggle women experience in another country will make you a better person... I thought robotics would be boring, but instead the writers bring science to life. You laugh, you cry you are inspired. Take your teenagers! Take your daughters! The reality of the story comes to life. I googled " robotic teams ".

Go and see this movie. It's insightful to know that we still live in a world where women are suppressed, but reminds all of us that do have freedoms that our freedoms were not easily won. Freedom requires a price and these girls from Afghanistan are a reminder of this fact. Today the Taliban now, once again, suppress the education of women in their country.
I would have loved it if they had included some small biographical info at the end of the movie about each of the women. They did do this for the organizer of the team,
The movie does start out a little slow. But picks up and you began to understand the risks they take and the courage required to pursue their dream.

This movie brings understanding to the world of what even in this modern age how women in beautiful Afghanistan are kept from personal success and their happiness is denied by male role. The casting is excellent, and the world competitions are brilliantly covered. I loved seeing the robotics competitions, and all the nations coming together to participate and support each other united in the love of robotics. The quality of the film is very good, the acting is honest and real, emotionally relevant and the subject is so important. This is a story that needed to be shared, such a wonderful film.

Atrociously cringe-worthy dialogues, but still a decent movie nonetheless.
Also the fact that it was set in Afghanistan, but every character was speaking in English with an Afghani accent felt silly. Nobody else but English speakers do this... where you make a movie about another country, then cheapen it by anglicizing (think even movies like Gladiator where ancient Romans speak English). Have you ever watched say, a Chinese movie about something happening in Brazil where everyone is supposed to be Brazilian but speak Mandarin? Or a French movie about Japan where all Japanese people speak French? I dunno, I would have preferred the same movie in Arabic to preserve authenticity. This just felt silly, and it's silliness that shouldn't have impacted an otherwise decently inspiring and heartwarming movie!

This is the very inspiring story of an Afghan woman who faced unbelievable obstacles. In a war-torn country that devalues women, she showed the world that determination and chutzpah can work miracles.
The acting was incredible and the story flowed well. I was immediately pulled into her world. I celebrated each small triumph with her, and cried alongside her with each setback. I was reluctant to see the end of the film. I wanted more of the story!
The scenery is gorgeous. I particularly enjoyed seeing the sites along the way. I would have liked seeing more of the p places she went.
Overall, this is a strong story, and one I will not soon forget.

Movies about underdogs overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds often have a relatively easy time of winning over viewers thanks to their inspiring narratives. This is especially true for fact-based stories, as well as films that have a particularly strong family-friendly vibe associated with them. At the same time, though, these productions also run the risk of overdoing it when it comes to these qualities, and such is very much the case here. The film tells the tale of the Afghan Dreamers Robotics Team, a quartet of passionate, inventive high school girls (Amber Afzali, Nina Hosseinzadeh, Sara Malal Rowe, Mariam Saraj) who achieved wide acclaim for their ingenious mechanical creations. They were inspired by their coach and mentor, Roya Mahboob (Nikohl Boosheri), an Afghan computer coder who made it her mission to introduce the young women of her country to the opportunities available through a pioneering technology little known to them. And so, with the assistance of her brother, Ali (Noorin Gulamgaus), a generous computer entrepreneur, Samir Sinha (Ali Fazal), and other assorted benefactors, Mahboob built a team that successfully participated in a number of international robotic competitions. Achieving that objective wasn't easy, however, given the many challenges the Dreamers faced in terms of finding funding, acquiring materials to build their creations, and overcoming resistance from the chauvinistic Afghan male population who generally didn't believe that their country's women were worthy of being educated, let alone be allowed to engage in activities like this. Writer-director Bill Guttentag's latest feature manages to check off all the requisite boxes for a film of this stripe, but it frequently tends to go overboard in delivering its messages, stressing points that are easy to grasp without having to browbeat audiences. What's more, the approach taken in assembling this release is far from original, rigidly following an outline that's highly formulaic, predictable and by the numbers, leaving little to the imagination, even without having knowledge of the particulars of this saga in advance. To its credit, the picture makes some fine, uplifting points about commitment, determination and innovation, as well as the value of equal educational opportunities for women. It also features some clever cinematography, an eclectic soundtrack and commendable performances by a crop of largely newcomers. And, as evidenced here, the impact of Mahboob's efforts to foster women's academic and vocational aspirations was truly significant, having planted seeds of change to shift the culture during the years between the overthrow of the repressive Taliban regime and its subsequent return to power. Sadly, though, as undeniably important as this story is, it genuinely deserved a better film than what has been presented through this sorely underwhelming effort.

For many reasons, Rule Breakers, was tough to watch. The casting was just so off, and it completly ruined the experience for me. Nikohl Boosheri's & Ali Fazal's acting was unconvincing, and their accents sounded Indian rather than Afghan, wich was super distracting. What made it even worse was knowing that they are not even Afghan, and the same goes for most of the other actresses and actors. They all tried so hard to force Afghan accents, but many arent actually Afghan, wich made it feel incredibly inauthentic. It's frustrating when a film about a specific culture doesn't prioritize accurcy or authenticity in its casting. The pacing of the movie was painfully slow, and there were moments that were just cringy to watch. The cast overall was weak, and none of the performances felt genuine. It was a real missed oppertunity to showcase Afghan talent, and instead, it ended up being a mismatched mess. The concept had potential, but the execution was a huge letdown by the producer Samudrika.

Based on a true story, this movie tells the heart warming story of girls making great strides in STEM against all odds. I found the characters easy to connect with and we were cheering for them all along the way. Very inspiring, educational and also entertaining. Take your older kids/teens to help them understand life for teens in other countries. Beautiful story telling. We were quickly drawn into the lives of these young women. I came home and immediately texted a number of friends to tell them to go see it! It's a film to be enjoyed and experienced by people of all ages. You won't be disappointed !

My daughter (20) and I watched this movie, knowing it would be good because of the previous movies we have seen from Angel Studios (Cabrini, Brave the Dark, etc.). With this being a story of pretty recent events, it made it even more a remarkable story of preserverance, boldness, going against the "flow," and courage at all costs. My daughter mentioned that the casting was incredibly done as well! In fact, next week during spring break, my daughter and 4 of her sisters will likely go see it together during a sister's Spring Break. Highly recommend! We are grateful to actually have family movies available again!

Angel Studio has done it again, bringing an inspiring, real story to the theater.
I loved this move and story about great young women facing challenges that seemed to be insurmountable.
Living in a country that has no value for women, and being able to use their talents, against all odds, and go to the heights in Robot Competition, was awesome! The acting was great, story line and cinematography beautiful.
Everyone should see this movie, especially young people, so they can see and understand the difficulties facing other young people in another country.
Inspiring, Happy, and Funny Highly recommend this movie!!

A true story told in a fashion that moved me in ways that I haven't encountered in some time. We saw both the young women's struggles and successes. I was both impressed by the women's courage and yet saddened that they had to even face the cultural restrictions for women in Afghanistan.
Angel Studios shows that they know what they are doing as they continue to create compelling movies that educate, inspire and entertain.
Definitely a movie worth seeing for young and old, both for it's content as well as to support Angel Studios. Definitely go get your tickets while it's still in the theaters and enjoy the show.

I took my 9 year old to this movie and it was both eye-opening and inspiring for him. It does a great job of communicating the cultural challenges that stood in the girl's way, but there's never anything shown that I was uncomfortable with him seeing. I would have taken my 3 year old.
It's a great movie for the whole family. Has something for parents and kids. Nikohl Boosheri gives a fantastic performance as Roya and the four girls were also great. It was fun to see Phoebe Waller-Bridge as one of the judges. All and all a worthwhile time at the movies. These are the kind of stories our kids need to see.

Rule Breakers is a true story plays to a wider audience. It goes beyond just a small story of Afghani girls. It is the story about overcoming issues. This happens to be Afghani girls, but it could be anyone who fights against well entrenched evil forces.
It's a solid, well-made story Afghani women weaving their way in a hostile environment. Everyone has problems in going forward, but these girls have more than most.
I, too, have been to and lived in this area of the world as a boy and then as a military officer.
The screenplay and photography ere beautiful and realistic. It was filmed in Morocco, a lovely and harsh area that gives us the good idea what these Afghani characters lived through.
Good story. Go watch.

I was gripped by the story of the Afghan girls and their team leaders. They overcome so much and reached dreams they could barely imagine. I loved the images of young people from many nations working hard to achieve their potential and supporting one another. There was a price that the Afghan girls and their families paid that was much higher than others in the competition, and they overcame time and time again. The movie was well worth the money and time. As a teacher myself, I left feeling inspired by their coaches' persistence and vision. As a teacher myself, I love this kind of movie minus the tragedy, and I left with renewed motivation to continue to help others learn and reach their dreams.

My husband and I just got back from watching Rule Breaker. What a phenomenal movie and so worth the watch. Such determination by all of the girls and their teacher. Was so excited for them and was rooting for them throughout the movie. Very heartfelt story and all did a great job of portraying their characters. Wish the world could be a better place for all to live peacefully and without fear of learning more to better themselves witbout always watching their backs with the taliban not being far away. It was nice to see an individual fighting so hard for those rights for others and hope one day that country can be a better place for them all to live.

Rulebreakers: The Story of the Afghan Dreamers is an outstanding and brilliant film that captures the inspiring true story of Afghanistan's all-girls robotics team. Against overwhelming odds, these young women defy societal restrictions to pursue their passion for STEM. The film beautifully portrays their resilience, intelligence, and determination as they fight for education and a place on the global stage. Emotionally gripping performances and stunning cinematography make every moment feel raw and real. The story is both heartbreaking and uplifting, showcasing the power of perseverance in the face of adversity. It highlights the importance of education and the barriers women still face in STEM fields worldwide. Every scene is a testament to the strength of young women who refuse to be silenced. More than just a movie, Rulebreakers is a call to action for equality and opportunity. It leaves you inspired, moved, and in awe of the courage these girls display. A must-watch for anyone who believes in the power of dreams and determination.
Awesome movie of good triumphing over adversity. Really heart-warming and uplifting! If you're looking for a some hopefulness amid the darkness, this is just the movie to see! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very inspiring! The acting was incredible. The woman who played the lead character was PERSISTENT in the face of many obstacles and the four girls on the Afghan team went through many serious trials in order to achieve great success in many competitions and finally achieved first place in Albuquerque, NM. Recommend your see this to fortify your faith in the ability of young girls to master math, engineering and science.

I was struck by the perseverance of the Roya Mahboob character to bring education and technology these Afghani girls who live in a culture where women's opportunities are severely limited by the Taliban. The actors portraying the girls did an amazing job of making me feel the emotions the characters were expressing, particularly a bright hope that they could accomplish what many, if not most men, in their society believed was impossible. On a completely separate note, knowing that the United States has now abandoned Afghanistan conditions will likely be even worse for girls there. This is important story about freedom, especially for women. I sincerely hope that feminists support this movie.

This was a great movie that clearly showed the oppression of women in a culture that would have rather killed those attempting to striving for a better life. A young girl, then into her teens and twenties had been told she could do what she desired. And she negotiated to use, then teach others about computers drawing her inspiration from others. As she learned her skills she could envision application it's future and challenge and they gathered a team and through adversity worked harder in less time with more heart and you find yourself hoping and cheering inside as you watch this wonderful movie leaving so many emotionally filled, some crying with joy. Go take the time to see this stunning movie. You'll remember part of its history and will leave you celebrating their joy.

I really enjoyed Rule Breakers. The story and the characters were compelling. It gave a real human face to the good and then bad guys. All of the characters are well developed and bring their personal outlook and the experiences that shaped them. It's nice to see a movie with a solid plot, whose hope, balanced with grave challeneges tell the story without a lot of gratuitous violence.
I was surprised that there was a lot more to see in the movie aftee what seemed like a generous trailer. The sets were well designed. It was well shot although the scenes that were intentionally shot as if they came from a cellphone wobbled more than I cared for. Otherwise. All good.

I took my robotics team to watch. They simply loved it. It is a captivating film that delves into the intense world of competitiveness through the eyes of a group of determined girls. As someone who has experienced the highs and lows of competition, this movie struck a chord with me. The journey of these young women, their resilience, and their camaraderie are portrayed beautifully, making it a film that resonates deeply with those who understand the spirit of competition.
The characters are well-developed and relatable. The lead actresses deliver phenomenal performances, bringing depth and authenticity to their roles. The passionate and dedicated leader of the team, who fights with the system to provide a basic education every girl deserve and whose unwavering belief in her teammates inspires them to push their limits. The underdog who overcomes her insecurities to become a key player. Each actress brings a unique energy to the film, making the characters' journeys all the more compelling.
At its core, it is a film about the power of determination, perseverance, teamwork, and friendship. The movie explores the pressures and rewards of competition, shedding light on the personal sacrifices and collective efforts required to achieve greatness. It also highlights the importance of support systems, both within the team and from loved ones, in overcoming obstacles and reaching one's full potential.

Love this movie. It displayed Persistence. Influencing a culture and norms. Resilience. Character. Integrity. Absolutely loved it and hope every child in the world sees it as the next generation emerges and there's global needs to support. The story was told with balance in detail/context at the right level to keep it moving forward. And also balanced with showing reality in a way that is appropriate for mixed age audiences. Great directing and acting. So grateful to the theaters who supported this important film to help educate and inspire others and share a necessary message across the nation.
