Repressed

I caught this short at Melbourne Underground Film Festival (being shown in the same block as my own short) and thought it was fantastic. MUFF, despite having underground content, exhibits many films at a high technical standard. This wasthe first film shown on the night and set a very high bar for the films that followed.

Without giving much away, the main character experiences terrifying visions while getting to the truth about her past. While the idea was not unfamiliar, the execution is excellent and the performances were top notch. Despite essentially covering an emotional topic, the director incorporates elements of suspense and horror successfully without ever feeling exploitative. Definitely a film maker to watch.

When last I checked the film was available for viewing online and is well worth tracking down.
