Deaner '89

Well, that was the best movie I've seen in a long time. I laughed my ass off. The characters were well developed. The humour was intelligent and relatable. I loved the sister and brother relationship. I had never seen the previous fubar movie before but i had an open mind when watching this film. It was so funny and laughed out loud a bunch of times. The music is soooo good. I think this is my new favorite movie and im going to say this is a Canadian Masterpiece. I really hope they make a sequel to this where Deaner lives in Calgary and starts a band or something. If you have time go do yourself a favour and watch this flick.

As a Métis person this movie inspired me to appreciate more my roots, as a metal head this movie inspired me to appreciate more my rooooots (blooooody roooooots) haha I know sepultura isn't the type of metal we're talking about here but it fits🤘🏼

But in all seriousness, this is an incredible movie and even though it outside the FUBAR world now it still has the spirit of the original movies with Deaners character.

This movie will be watched along side the originals by all of the old school fubar fans guaranteed as if it were a sequel to the originals, INSTANT CANADIAN CLASSIC 100%

Rent or buy this movie is worth every single penny.

Deaner89 is not just a backstory for the governor of givin'r, it is a love letter to so many of the best things the late 80s gave us; all wrapped in a heartfelt story with deeply developed characters. Deaner89 stands on it's own as a story of growing up, finding your roots and grappling with who you thought you were and who you want to be. The cast is an unbelievable group of Canadian comedy Royalty (Sasso! Mary Walsh! Kevin MacDonald!) and newer stars (Star Slade!) who were each rich contributors to the story, not just recognizable names with cameos. Deaner89 delivered on the laughs I expected from the lovable metalhead we've come to know, but the movie is a 10/10 for me because it surprised and delighted at every turn from the deeply relatable teen angst moments for kids of anyy generation, to the incredible way the movie touched on some often much brushed over darker moments of Canada's past that continue to leave its legacy on countless families. Congratulations to Paul Spence, Sam McGlynn and the entire production team for giving us something nostalgic, meaningful and just plain fun. Go check it out while you can!

What a great 80's style movie. This is exactly how good movies were made in the 80's and 90's. It's got such a feel good vibe and also is funny as hell. I will be watching this over and over for many years. If you're a fan of the original Fubar movie or 80's style films then this movie is for you. It's got lots of great Canadian humor and also that 80's rock n roll vibe. The casting is also pretty spot on and all the actors and actresses do a great job. It's been awhile since we've had a great Canadian made film that will become an instant classic and will bring new fans into the Fubar world. Turn up the good and turn down the sick!!! WHOO!! GIVER!!

Loved the two Fubar movies and loved this!! Nice cameos by Kids in the Hall's Kevin McDonald who plays a shop teacher, MadTV's Will Sasso who plays his dad and hockey coach and This Hour Has 22 Minute's Mary Walsh who plays Deaner's girlfriends mom who was in a punk rock band. Yes this may not be an intellectual masterpiece but it made me smile and laugh which is what the world needs more of. I especially loved the inclusion of old school rock/metal bands like Dokken, Judas Priest, Metallica, etc. And Dean meeting a member of Dokken as he was denied entrance into the concert venue. Reminded me of when Wayne & Garth going backstage to meet Alice Cooper & Aerosmith. Hopefully they continue to make these rock comedies in the tradition of Spinal Tap.
