Alabama Dirt

Poor pretty boy wants to be a race car driver, and a rich girl's daddy doesn't want her running around with him. The annoying slow motion video effects & muffled audio with an overbearing soundtrack gives the whole movie an "Am I in rehab?!!" feel to it, even for people who have never been in rehab. Sprinkle every scene with posturing gesturing mug shots is just odd and frankly, boring and adds nothing. Obviously someone got someone in a movie putting up the money on this one, because I don't even know who exactly this movie was targeted to besides frat boys & sorority girls in the south as sort of a 'hick roots party scene' vibe that only exists in that economic sector. I'm being harsh, yes... Don't make junk and expect a flowery parade with balloons & confetti. See for yourselves. No, it doesn't get better after first 30 minutes!!

This is an underfunded movie about an underfunded young racecar driver who races off his paycheck and with the help of friends and family. I give this a high rating because it has something highly polished movies usually don't, pure truth, grit, and heart. I'm a racer in very much the same circumstances, trying to balance life, work, love, and racing . Ty's friends and family are just like the friends and family at all short tracks in all the little towns throughout North America, real people putting it all on the line to entertain the fans that come out to cheer, not for money but for a little trophy and the huge smiles from the little kids cheering for you and the Atta boy's from your friends and peers. So for all the shortcomings that are easy for armchair racers to sit and point out, for people who understand this movie there isn't much that a bigger budget could improve it took the same crazy spirit of most racers for the film crew to produce this movie. Checkered flags and High fives all around. P..S.
