Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl

Astoundingly bad. Stephanie Beatriz was the only bright spot. Every other role was overacted to the point where it felt completely miscast. Jessica Darrow? Awful. One of the worst, unauthentic performances i've ever seen. It's as if she had no idea what she was doing. And a purple sequined pantsuit? Really? Diana Guererro? If she were any more devoid of emotion, she'd have to be in a casket. As bad as they were, the lady playing Abuela Alma was infinitely worse. Thank goodness Carolina Gaitan is astonishingly gorgeous. The stage was cool, but the performances seemed phoned-in. Horrible, horrible production.

A strange headline I know but that is the problem with Jessica Darrows costume in this.

I really don't understand why, unlike the rest of the entire cast, she had to wear a sparkly purple pant suit that could not be further from her characters actual outfit in the movie.

This production is fantastic. They do bring the magic of the movie (which is one of the best Disney movies of recent years) to the stage. Capturing the magic of the family Madrigal on stage wonderfully. Accept for when Jessica Darrow is on stage. Her outfit detracts from the wonder of the show. Instead of enjoying the performance you're thinking Why is she wearing that?

A real shame as the production and performance is fantastic.

This is by far my favourite Disney show I'm writing this as a 37 year old guy who has watched it with his daughter 3 times, and hasn't got bored of it yet. It is brilliant. The costumes, the lighting, the graphics, the singing, the horeography, the music. Beautiful!!! I admire it from the technical side. To do such a concert, live, the back of the artists.... Also, all that integration with the Audience.... Such things only in the USA. Next time I will fly for such a concert straight from Poland :) after this account one wants to watch a fairy tale. Wow! Just wow!

This show was incredible with the showstopping number of course being "We Don't Talk About Bruno". Of course. But anyway, I also really loved "The Family Madrigal", "Waiting on a Miracle", "Surface Pressure", "What Else Can I Do?", and "All of You".

...Which is basically all of the songs. But really, if you like Encanto, then you'll love this!

My only problem with this is that it's so short. Forty-five minutes isn't really a concert.

It's not even that long because there's this thing in the middle about a chorus that was chosen to sing at the concert.

Their reactions were really entertaining, so that made up for it.

Anyway, I think you should give this concert a try because it's really spectacular.

The show was excellent, but there was one thing that distracted us the whole time and pulled us out of the immersion, the entire time! Very frustrating because the music and the show was excellent otherwise.

The distraction at every appearance ruining the whole immersion was the character of Luisa. She was standing out unnecessarily and was complety out of sync with the rest of the singers in terms of similarity to the movie characters and costume (or the lack of). The quality of the singer playing her character was also the worst in the whole show. Our child was dissapointed and was pointing that out the whole time, that she does not look like the character of Luisa in the movie.

Otherwise... a 10 Star show and for sure looks way better being present there.
