Damn good show. Entertaining as hell. Vince nails the surrealist vibe with this and tells stories the way they were intended to be told. No BS, crazy experiences, and at the end of the day you just go home and chill. The show is the real deal. Dialogue is absolutely on point, to the point you forget you are watching a show. Everything is very intended and adds to the episode. The weird unexplained characters and antics are exactly what I want in entertainment. I did not even listen to Vince staples before I watched the show and I still love it. This is one of the few shows on Netflix that is leaps and bounds better than anything else on the platform.
I gotta say, The Vince Staples show is a future classic in the making! To me, it takes inspiration from classic Black sitcoms like Martin and The Jamie Foxx Show in terms of its sitcom-like scenarios as well as animated series like The Boondocks with its quizzical deconstruction of the African American experience. Don't let the heavy subtext scare you though, even to a causal audience, this show is too funny.
Building on top of the YouTube miniseries, The Vince Staples show on Netflix acts like a sort of continuation of that random comedy we've come to know and love from the rapper. Being both socially aware and outwardly cartoonish, the social commentary is cool and thought-provoking, without being too preachy.
The show's, witty dialogue in this show is on point! It'll have you laughing and nodding along. The storytelling style is unique too, kind of like Twin Peaks or an anthology series. And Vince Staples himself? He's got that deadpan comedic timing down perfectly. Episode 2 had me laughing out loud and it's a great introduction to the show's comedy style.
I really hope they bring this show back for another season, because it's too good to miss and doesn't overstay its welcome. My only hope is that the second season (it goes ahead) is longer than five episodes.

The show is hilarious and believable, given Vince Staples's life story. It's a must-watch; its inspiration echoes Glover's show Atlanta, but this is for L. A.
I wholeheartedly hope this show gets renewed, as Vince is a very grounded entertainer in an age of digital and plastic facades.
The script is superb, and all the actors bring A* performances in each episode. Vince is Vince and each episode is compelling and amusing.
This type of show does outline there is a gap in the market for shows centred on black experiences submerged in humourous satire; if anything else it can aid in bridging cultural gaps and form understanding and appreciation that transcends audience demographics.
Take a bow, Mr. Staples.

This show is all I wanted from Vince and more. As soon as I heard that he was making a show I knew it was gonna be heat, but this is much better than I expected. The pacing, writing, humor, characters, theming, and music elevate the show to crazy heights. This not only proves Vince's chops as an actor, but as a writer and creator as well. I literally made an IMDB account just to write this review because I like the show that much. It really does portray an accurate look into the life of a lower-income nihilist rapper. Truly is one of the funniest shows to come out of Netflix in a while, so thank you Vince.
This is a tough review because there were aspects of the show I really enjoyed, and others I didn't. It's like it was trying too hard to be both funny and serious at the same time. Pick a lane in my opinion. Possibly it's building up to something but with the episodes available to me currently, I'm not super interested in another season.
I gave it a 5/10 because I do think it has potential. The funny bits were truly laugh out loud funny but it seemed like 30 seconds later we were tackling some serious social injustices and that's not what I signed up for.
It's trying very hard to be the live action version of The Boondocks but just not as funny (not even close).
