But the series, which is available to stream on AMC+, features the strongest performance of J. Smith-Cameron’s career. Smith-Cameron plays Janet Talbot, the mother of the main character, Daniel Holden (Aden Young). Daniel has been in prison since he was 18 for the rape and murder of his high school girlfriend. At the beginning of the series, new evidence comes to light that allows Daniel to be released. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more impressive TV resumé than Melissa Bernstein’s since 2008.
The four-time Emmy-winning producer was right by Vince Gilligan’s side when he got Breaking Bad’s pilot off the ground in 2007 and together with Mark Johnson and Gran Via Productions she helped turn the idiosyncratic crime drama about a high school chemistry teacher-turned-meth kingpin into its own empire. Immediately following the staggering success of the Bryan Cranston-led Breaking Bad, Gilligan, Bernstein, Peter Gould and the rest of Gilligan’s brain trust spun the series off into the Bob Odenkirk vehicle Better Call Saul, which is now considered to be one of the most acclaimed prequels in any medium. Then came 2019’s well-received sequel movie El Camino, chronicling Jesse Pinkman’s (Aaron Paul) quest for freedom.

A decade ago, actors Aden Young and Clayne Crawford were pivotal parts of the much-underrated Sundance channel drama series Rectify. The show had a niche fanbase, and I was a part of it. Naturally, when I got the new assignment of writing about the Canadian film The King Tide, a new film starring both Young and Crawford, I was overjoyed. And the film just happens to carry the same moody DNA as that show, which is more than I could have ever asked for. It’s contextually and thematically much different, though. Part Midnight Mass (2021), part The Village (2005), this is an exhibition of “what if Mike Flanagan and M. Night Shyamalan had a love child” There’s an undeniable The Wicker Man (1973) influence as well, if you think about it. Yet, The King Tide, directed by Christian Sparkles, can very much stand on its own as a quasi-horror-drama that is...

Suits, a series that ended three years ago, experienced a resurgence on Netflix due to its quality and availability for binge-watching, becoming the second most-watched show on the platform for an eight-week period with 26.5 billion minutes watched. Actress Abigail Spencer, who appeared in 15 episodes of Suits, expressed her gratitude for streaming services for giving the show new life and bringing the cast closer together during a strike, and highlighted the importance of creating something good and letting streaming platforms do the rest. A new series called Suits: L.A. is set to start filming in March, with former Arrow star Stephen Amell playing the lead role. While it takes place in the same universe as the original series, there is no confirmation if the original cast members will make an appearance.

While House of the Dragon managed to continue filming abroad amid the SAG-AFTRA strike, Interview With the Vampire has been halted in Prague.
Deadline revealed Monday morning that the AMC vampire drama has paused production until the strike is resolved.
The news is a bit surprising in the wake of the House of the Dragon Season 2 shoot resuming, but Deadline notes that some of the cast filming Interview With the Vampire Season 2 are SAG members.
It's unclear how far the series based on the Anne Rice novels was in the production process, but it had been filming since April.
AMC had not announced a premiere window for the series, but it is expected to be heavily featured at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend.
While the cast and writers can no longer attend, it seems AMC is pressing on with its plans for Sdcc.

AMC Networks is planning to launch a cheaper, ad-supported tier later this year.
The new tier, which is expected to launch by October, will be pitched at the company’s 2023-2024 upfront, which will include a presentation in New York on Tuesday. Pricing for the tier was not disclosed.
“This is a big moment for AMC Networks and for our advertising partners, because it not only creates a fully-ad supported distribution ecosystem, it also allows advertisers to buy our shows, genres and franchises in a much more comprehensive and impactful way,” AMC Networks chief commercial officer Kim Kelleher said in a statement. “With our new series content, library titles and other targeted streaming platforms that are all bundled into AMC+, partners can move beyond individual shows and even series and choose to ‘own’ whole genres and franchises, and drive messaging to target audiences no matter what they are watching or where.

In Chad Stahelski's 2014 film "John Wick," audiences were introduced to an interesting piece of fantastical mythology. The title character (Keanu Reeves) is a notoriously efficient assassin, and he lives in a world where assassination is a commonplace yet well-moneyed profession. There is a strict code of conduct and a complex set of confusing rules and economics that all assassins must follow, lest they incur the wrath of the High Table, the ultra-wealthy guild that oversees the world's many murders for hire.
At the center of the "John Wick" mythology is the Continental Hotel, a posh residence and "safe zone" where assassins are not allowed to murder each other. In addition to the usual hotel amenities — and the booze is top-shelf — the Continental also provides assassins with their many weapons, gadgets, and high-end suits that also serve as body armor. Guns are presented by "sommeliers," who talk about the bullet...

But an incident on a Florida highway prompts a trip to Detroit, where he faces a new challenge in the deadly Clement Mansell (Boyd Holbrook), also known as "The Oklahoma Wildman."
