Billi Pig

The director José Eduardo Belmonte has made some good movies, and some bad movies. But this one distunes from all others in his career. Maybe he tried to make money with this movie, which will absolutely fail.

The plot is the main problem of the movie, but the edition is bad, the sound effects are poor and the Direction of the actors is terrible. Belmonte had good experienced actors such as Milton Gonçalves, Selton Mello and Murilo Grossi, but they all play anecdotal characters, far from reality.

The premiere of Grazi Massafera in the cinema can't be considered, because her character is too bad, and probably it was directed in that way. So we can't blame her for the odd acting.

The movie lacks cohesion and the special effects are also bad, especially the duck one. The original music score is good, and the cinematography is reasonable.

In the first scene I thought it would be a children movie, but it isn't. There are gunshots and curse words that makes it inappropriate for children.

Unfortunately this is a very bad movie, from one Director of the same city of mine. Don't watch it.

What a bad feeling, I love most of the actors here (except for some Bolsonaro supporters), and we have a great cast here, but I felt really embarrassed, or maybe I didn't have the depth and sensitivity to capture the art of this film, poor Selton, Massafera and Milton Gonçalves, what a fiasco, a shame, but almost nothing saves it, except the cast itself, which can't save a poor script and a bland little story, not even the little pig can be saved, it could at least be cute or funny, how sad...

Wanderley (Selton Mello) is a bankrupt insurance broker who tries at all costs to help his wife, Marinalva (Grazi Massafera), to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress, while she receives advice from her pet pig. Everything changes when the couple is kidnapped and ends up in the hands of the drug trafficking boss, who is promised a miracle to save the life of the bandit's daughter, who was shot during a party in São Cristóvão, a suburb of Rio de Janeiro.

I currently live in Brazil and always try to support the Brazilian cinema industry whenever I can. I always go to see Brazilian movies in the theater and I am happy to see the great increase in production quality of films in the past few years. There have been many movies that I have really enjoyed. This one, on the other hand, was a major deception.

The actors were all pretty decent for what they had to work with. What failed the most in the movies was the story. I think they were making the movie up as they went along. Very terrible story that made no sense.

None of the characters were very likable. They were all dishonest in their own way.

A lot of the story went unsolved. There were so many questions I still had about the story at the end of the movie.

Again, like I said, there were a couple funny scenes, thanks to the actors themselves. But overall, very terribly written.

If you are looking to give Brazilian cinema a chance, look elsewhere, because this film is definitely a step back in the progress they have made over the years.
