The Escort Wife

... well I reckon just plain cold! Not even sure I would call it a dish. No pun intended as always and as far as stories goes, I reckon this may have a bit more "meat" to it (yes there is nudity, if that plays a role for you one way or the other, softcore in case you are wondering) ... than other erotic movies, but it is so bland and predictable I am not really sure that it is a positive aspect of it all.

Especially because it may cut into the the main reason most might want to watch this. Beautiful people aside, the chemistry between the two main characters is weird - but I reckon that is what (movie) marriage can do to you. When I saw the escort next door (it was quite obvious what her occupation is), I thought "at least they won't be so brazen to put the husband there" ... lo and behold ... but even that takes way too much time.

The fact of the main female actress becomes unlikable during the run time of the movie does not help either. It's a shame too, because we have reason to like her ... and root for her. Not because of her looks (though for some it may help), but because of how her husband is dealing with her ... laying it all bare then? Well not entirely and no pun intended.

The Escort Wife was a film that was not one that I expected from Basinillo. It is undoubtedly a story that can easily evoke the audiences' attention - from the film's impeccable and convincing storyline to its wistful and rigid cinematography - they both work flawlessly and effortlessly, making the audiences become more captivated in each passing scene and frame.

The film follows the story of a wife who had a sudden miscarriage. Then, she discovers that her husband is committing adultery with an escort. She starts plotting her revenge by navigating the world of prostitution herself.

The Escort Wife is an immensely gripping movie that challenges the audiences' minds and perceptions about different subjects. The way it touches various topics that can spark discourse - from modern prostitution to the rampant infidelities in committed marriages - truly sets the seal that it is a film that's replenished with substance and depth.

This is not your ordinary sexy thriller film. The movie is undeniably unpredictable and sets the dreadful mood with its remarkable scoring that matches Janelle Tee, Raymond Bagatsing, and Ava Mendez's sumptuous acting and performances. Skin flicks are usually light on story and are more concerned about getting everyone's clothes off in sexy situations as quickly as possible. The Escort Wife does, however, do its best to inject a coherent and emotive story between the moneyshots. The cast is very attractive, and although the nudity is mainly restricted to upper-body exposure, it doesn't detract from the movie as a whole.

As it goes, The Escort Wife is quite an enjoyable little romp. The story may be a tad predictable but it remains interesting throughout nevertheless. It's only 75 minutes long, so it's a breeze to get through.

Janelle, Ava and Raymond are really the best fit for the roles they portraying. Their acting skills are breathtaking and phenomenal!
