A complex story line

It is a little confusing at first, but toward the middle of the film i start to understand more about Julia. Is it a great movie? No. Is the movie worths to watch? Yes. It worths to discover a new pretty face, it worths to see Richard Chamberlain and Andrew McCarthy on screen again.

Couldn't figure if I shld give it a 1 or a10.

1 if it's meant to be a serious film but a 10 if taken as a comedy. It's obviously a vanity project by the star/producer/writer/addanyothertitletothishyphenate. I don't blame any of the rest of cast and crew (heck, I will more so give them all props for keeping it all together as much as they possibly could), it's a stellar lineup of talent in front and behind the camera for such a small film. The main story and actor fail so miserably that it's rather entertaining seeing it as an extended SNL skit. Move over Wiseau, this town isn't big enough for the both of you!!

Don't bother "finding Julia"

We could not find any reviews online for this movie. Maybe that should have been a forewarning. We were the only two in the whole theater for this show which would have been fantastic if only the movie wasn't so very very bad. It was like the main actress who can't act, had her super rich and powerful daddy funding the movie and everyone involved was afraid to say no stop the madness, this does not work. My wife wanted to get up and walk out of the movie many times but I made her stay as I hoped it would get better but it only got worse, much worse. It just seemed poorly executed on every level, sound volume was all over the place, weird camera angles and bad directing. This movie could have been so much more with a better actress playing the lead character. We felt bad for Andrew McCarthy and Richard Chamberlain ending their careers with this movie. This was our first review. We signed up to hopefully save some people their valuable time and money and avoid this movie. All the other reviewers are first timers too. Seems like a bunch of FAKE Reviews to us...be interesting if anyone who has actually posted more that once writes an honest review of this thing.

A Wonderful Experience

I originally went out to NYC cinema to see another film, but when it sold out I ended up watching Finding Julia... THANK GOD because I have a feeling this movie was even better than what I went to see! Best surprise I've had in awhile. I've been researching Ha Phuong since I left the theatre and WOW what a talent.

Glad to Find It

Finding Julia is a great, original, and well constructed thriller. Igor Sunara handles the script with a lot of love.

The Director provides Sublime Intensity to capture an intense subject matter

There was another review I read prior to writing my own and I strongly disagree with the "other " reviewer's perspective. The director was dealing with a difficult topic and yet managed to not only capture the deep rooted complexity with sublime intensity but also with visual cinematography that further demonstrated the riveting pull and tug that existed in the daughter's mind. My suspicion is that any reviewer who denigrates this award winning director, clearly has a limited and linear mindset and the point must have gone over their head!!!

Looking forward to seeing more of Ha Phuong in the future

This movie fills its scenes with the absorbing story of an incredible life of a woman who is torn between moving on and holding on. Kieu Chinh delivers a scene stealing performance, one of the best in her long career.

Lets'all wellcome Ha Phuong.

I'm in Los Angeles but I have heard some friends talk about a new Asian actress. I was curious and decided to see the film in Orange County. The film made me think alot and i decided to write this review. I am glad to see Richard Chamberlain and Andrew McCarthy are back on screen, i love them. After reading other reviews, i agree Ha Phuong is pretty and good at acting. She is definitely the new Asian actress in American industry.. Let's all welcome her ( Ha Phuong)

A mesmerizing film

Finding Julia is a confident and deceptively sophisticated celebration of a women who faces great adversity, but finds a way to make it through regardless. Everything about the lead character spoke to me on a deep and personal level. We feel her pain, we take her journey with her.

Great performances!

Finding Julia finds fresh perspectives in a psychological tale brought brilliantly to life by powerful performances from newcomer Ha Phuong and veterans like Richard Chamberlain. Watching these actors play off one another was a joy, and movies like this remind us why we go to the movies in the first place.

Big Fan of Ha Phuong

I am a long time big fan of Ha Phuong. She is a wonderful person in our Vietnamese Community. Wow!, the film is thorny. Viewers need to focus and deep thinking. I am so proud of her, Ha Phuong is my idol. A thousand of people at my gala in Los Angeles want to watch her movie. Hopefully her film will be shown in Los Angeles. I love you Ha Phuong

Definitely worth a watch

Deftly employing the power of suggestion and an emotionally potent music throughout, Finding Julia is a well-crafted thriller with some crafty tricks up its sleeve. Star Ha Phuong may be a newcomer, but it looks like she'll be around for a long time.

We love HP!

PLEASE believe me when I say this film is worth the watch! Easily one of Ha Phuong's best performances to date. I'm constantly surprised by her skillet, including how she produced the film herself. You go girl! I can't wait to see what she does next.

A new discovery of Asian actress in America movie industry.

I haven't seen Richard Chamberlain and Andrew McCarthy for awhile. Their acting is still great. I really enjoyed this movie because there is a new Asian actress Ha Phuong in American movie. She is beautiful and her acting was wonderful. The movie was making me think a lot and understood more about Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA). I am sure that i will go back to see this movie again. Great performance Ha Phuong.

This movie kept me on the edge of my seat and pulled my heartstrings!

Finding Julia is a glorious affirmation of both love and life that takes full advantage of star Ha Phuong's acting range. A dense roster of colorful characters makes for a feature that is equal parts moving and thrilling.

Thrilling!

Ha Phuong, a first-time film actress, especially gives an incredible performance in this taught psychological thriller. With this feature, Ha Phuong proves she should have a long career ahead of her. Finding Julia isn't for the faint of heart, but it will sure get your blood pumping!

Great film!

Ha Phuong and the rest of the cast were excellent. It's been a while since I've seen Andrew McCarthy on the big screen. His scenes father-daughter scenes with Julia were very relatable.

Ha Phuong is a star!

A film for modern women who know all about the messiness of human lives, which are rendered here with great detail. Star Ha Phuong clearly isn't afraid to dig deep and give the viewer insight into difficult issues.
