This film speaks to the millions of teens seeking affirmation from today's destructive social media universe. Through the creative storytelling of Kyle and Sean, WRWR captures the audience through raw emotion and serious issues constantly faced by adolescents. Go on the 2hr adventure with the talented cast and learn each and every challenge they face to ultimately serve witness as mental health advocates for all age groups. We all struggle, we all hurt. But no one has to struggle and hurt alone. There are resources and people that care who are willing to go beyond the standard expectation. Have hope.
This movie took the subjects of anxiety, depression and suicide and approached them in a way that teens can relate. There was a positive message about seeking help for any kind of issue and not being ashamed about it. Each character was dealing with their own feelings and mental issues that were caused by situations that were unique for them. Their friends helped them to confront those situations and emotions in positive ways after they finally opened up about what was actually going on in the minds and hearts. It also showed that not everything we see on the outside of a person lets us know what is going on inside. Overall this movie had some great moments of laughter, heartache, and perseverance.
Even as a Christian, I've never laughed (and cried) so much in a faith-based movie...because they're by-and-large terrible (besides maybe VeggieTales).
Pleasantly surprising, genuine, and heart-wrenching performances across the board. There's a long take monologue that had me in tears. Although there's a moment that a character literally throws a Bible- the film never beats you over the head with it. It's an authentic look at Christianity that doesn't give you all the answers. There are definitely some beautiful moments for the believers in the audience, but the majority of the movie is accessible and can be appreciated by believers and non-believers alike. The humor is sharp and the dialogue is current and raw while still being family-friendly.
Sure it's got some limitations as an indie film, but it has what most indie films don't: purpose, heart, and hope. Layer on top of that a great synth-y soundtrack, striking landscapes, and a cast with great chemistry, and I can't recommend WRWR enough.

This film, an evidently low-budget attempt at a contemporary spin on The Breakfast Club, falls short in capturing the essence of its inspiration. The dialogue and acting come across as contrived, lacking the authenticity needed to resonate with viewers. The issues depicted in the movie feel watered down and fail to reflect the complexities of real-life challenges faced by young individuals. In my sincere assessment, it seems like a production crafted by a group of church members, possibly from the youth group. If you have a penchant for such movies, you might find "What Rhymes with Reason" more to your liking. However, I wouldn't recommend subjecting today's teens to this film, as they are likely to critique it harshly and dissect its shortcomings.
I had the opportunity to see this film on October 10th for its one-day release and I was captivated by the storyline as it made me laugh and cry. Filmed on location across Oklahoma, the film does not just tell a story; it initiates a conversation, mixing threads of adventure, authenticity, and real-life issues that plague our society, notably among young adults. A journey through depression, suicide, and the monumental task of finding one's place in the world, making it not only a movie but a message. The movie deserves to be seen on more screens, provoking thought, dialogue, and, helping to make a perspective change about mental health especially among families with teens and young adults.
