- New patients of Dr. Nauberger don't last long, quickly learning that he's the worst psychiatrist in the world. But when the doctor meets easy-going psych student Greg, the two go head-to-head in a hilariously messy, life-changing journey.
- Unlicensed and struggling with his own mental health, Dr. Nauberger is, quite possibly, the worst psychiatrist in the world. Desperate to attract clients, he turns to Groupon, offering "extremely reasonable" therapy sessions in his office-which just so happens to be located next to a literal dumpster. Unsurprisingly, his bizarre methods scare most people away. But when he loses his favorite patient, Craig, Nauberger spirals into a crisis of self-worth and anxiety. Enter Greg, a psychology student who reluctantly agrees to listen to Dr. Nauberger's problems. What starts as a chance encounter outside a Los Angeles furniture store evolves into the student becoming the teacher, with Greg diagnosing and giving advice to his erstwhile therapist. With a new perspective, Nauberger does manage to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Allie, who had blocked him out of her life for using personal details of their therapy sessions for his book. However, some habits die hard, as Nauberger shares sensitive information about Greg to social media. This blows up the relationship for a time, but the long suffering Greg agrees to see Nauberger again, but only as a friend, ending their therapy sessions for good. With newfound confidence, Nauberger begins to use his only friend as an emotional crutch. Their "hangs" become increasingly chaotic, and what follows is a roller-coaster of miscommunication, boundary-crossing, and ill-fated self-improvement schemes that will change both of their lives in ways neither of them expects. Hilarious, heartfelt, and packed with cringe-worthy moments, Bad Psychiatrist is a dark comedy about friendship, obsession, and the questionable ethics of discount therapy.
