'A Modern Energy to the Classic Tale': Robin Hood Gets Reimagined With Bigger Role for Marian
Image
MGM+ has greenlighted a new Robin Hood TV show that promises to deliver a sweeping, romantic retelling of the classic folklore. The series will depict Robin Hood's exploits and Maid Marian's critical role as his insider ally within the English court.

England's classic folklore is being adapted in MGM+'s upcoming TV show, per TVLine. The streamer has ordered ten-episodes of a new Robin Hood series, slated to start filming in Serbia in February 2025. Seal Team and Hatfield & McCoys producer John Glenn will serve as writer and showrunner alongside Librarians: The Next Chapter's Jonathan English as director. MGM+ head Michael Wright confirmed the show will follow the story beats of the English folklore, but with increased focus on the legendary couple's romantic adventures. "We call MGM+ 'television for movie lovers,' and English and Glenn's Robin Hood is the epitome of our brand promise," he said in a statement.

“The opportunity is massive. That’s what we’re having to address as a nation post-Brexit – we have to think differently,” continued the producer, who co-founded Wild Child Animation. Anderson stepped down from the company earlier this month,...

“You walk onto those sets and into those writing rooms, they’re very white places,” Lutz, co-founder and managing partner of indie banner Fela, told The Hollywood Reporter ahead of a Toronto Film Festival panel on Sept. 11, entitled Empowering Rising Voices: Advocating for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Through Film, and presented by indeed.

Training Black talent is required across the industry, in front and behind the camera. “We have a talent pool that’s been neglected. They haven’t had the experience they need.
